- In its first ever Final Four appearance, Arizona put on a defensive masterclass against UConn women's basketball, winning 69-59 to advance to the title game against Stanford. Aari McDonald had 26 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 steals to lead the Wildcats. Watch the full game replay here.

i have watched this game many times - each time i watch one player most of the game - this time it was bendu yeaney - great defense - always on the point guard coming down - very active - always in position - played hard the entire game - not allowing uconn player to get settled. excellent game bendu
experience and maturity prevailed in this game. superstar senior mcdonald and the mentally tough captain thomas set the pace

Uconn coach confused about in what position paige is set to play. She is a complete player. She has the ability to play in all possible positions. From her school plays notice that she were every where. She is player who set players to score as well as herself. No other player uses her. Again 3 point shooting win the game for arizona.

Happy that the Pac-12 finally got one after a serious championship drought! UCONN is used to getting the top recruits but they play against teams in a weaker conference. The parity has shifted and more teams are getting top recruits. Even though UCONN has the winning consistency like a well-oiled machine, they are playing against stronger teams in the tourney that aren't intimated anymore. The best record just says that a team is favorite to win "on paper" but they still have to play the game. Even with questionable calls, UCONN couldn't handle the defensive tenacity that 'Zona took to them and the better team prevailed.
Exactly!! I agree with everything you said! In any sport you can’t go by record. Record determines who wins on paper. It’s a sport anything can happen on any given day.
its a tale of how the smaller team dominated the boards point blank uconn was too complacent. this will definitely be a teaching point for this young team
not uconns best game but them stafford and baylor should have been top 3 this past szn.

i think uconn should get more in the paint because when uconn missed a shot arizona gets the rebound easily because they’re always in the paint
Yeah UConn took this game too lightly. Arizona simply outplayed
the Huskies for the entire game. UConn has got a ton of talent
coming in the 2021-2022 season .. they are going to be tough to beat.
CT didn't take this game too lightly. Are you kidding??? Taking a Final Four too lightly. Arizona went on a great run for the tournament, and it continued through CT right to the championship game. CT tried their hearts out against Arizona, but they were the 2nd best team in this game. They probably didn't even deserve to be in the game in the first place.......

@@robertfeightner5354 She doesn't necessarily need "meat on the bones". Cameron Brink is extremely slender, but is still a good post player. It's about foot position and balance, not just weight and mass. :)

Who cares if uconn gets cheated out of 1 "phantom call'' as ryan ruocco & rebecca 'uconn'z fav analyst' lobo called it ? Look at all the other calls uconn have benefited from over the years. I just don't have any kind of sympathy 4 a coach like geno who is 1of the most arrogant 'butt-spaces' self-righteous & narcissistic human beings in women's sports. Great coach but not a good person. * Bravo 2 the refs in this situation...but let's not pretend like Arizona wasn't goin' 2 win...call or no call.
The ref who called that foul on Williams should not be a ref. Retire. The refs in this game was terrible. Should not ref games of this magnitude.
I mean the same could be said about the no-call against Baylor in the elite 8 :/

It seems to me that the refs really let this game be physical and Arizona has the advantage there as they have bigger, stronger, more athletic girls which really mattered for their defense. There was, I think, also some inconsistent calls against Uconn.
Glad UConn and Paige lost! Paige is great no doubt but all that talk about her being the best UConn player in history can stop! Breanna Stewart and maya moore are still the best UConn players

paige is still a freshman. i mean you can considered one of the greats in uconn history when she moves on the wnba. but until now, she’s still learning the game. but still a terrific player; but you better watch out for upcoming years. paige + azzi= dynamic duo.

Arizona played very good, yet UConn is still better... consider:
- When UConn plays other teams, they typically trail their opponents in the 1st Q, then catch up by the end of 2nd Q and steadily plow ahead in 3rd and 4th Q's...
- In this game with Arizona, they still trailed behind, as usual, as far as 14 pts behind in 2nd Q, but gained on Arizona towards the end of the 4thQ to only 5 points behind...
- Arizona is good, but UConn still gained on them... UConn fell back behind by the end of the 4th - by 10 pt's... the point is, they could've gained on Arizona again,
if given enough time.
- Before this game, UConn total games won was 28 and only 1 loss ... and now 28 -2 after tonight's loss against Arizona .... very impressive still...
- Arizona total games won was 20 with 5 losses, until their win over UConn, and now at 21 - 5... though their next loss with Stanford, puts Arizona at 21 - 6...
- Sure, Arizona "broke UConn winning streak" in this game, but UConn has still won more games than Arizona... and Arizona has had more losses...
Arizona is good, really good, but UConn is better; Tonight's game, UConn was just not shooting well - they were having a bad night.... it happens.
Luckily for Arizona, they were the " good" team on this day. Because the "better" team doesn't always win...

There’s always what ifs and “only if they had more time” give Arizona the credit they deserve they played amazing defense and turned it into offense. No one could guard Aari and the right team won
