I love your videos man, you have a way of reaching everyone by speaking in such general terms, but in such a specific and detailed way. It's hard to explain but I can find value in almost everything you say because i can relate or apply it to so many different areas of my music and workflow. I'm 34 and have been making music for almost half of my life, I've gone through so many different phases. I've deleted entire catalogs that I spent years making just to impulsively move to a different city, change my name and start fresh in a completely different genre. I'm constantly learning. I think the best thing though is that your videos not only help me realize that I have so much more to learn, but they also help me realize that I already have the answers to my own questions, if that makes sense. Thanks for everything you do!
8:51 to highlight this point, maybe do a video where you take a sample that you made a beat w/ a long time ago and flip it how your ears would hear it today.
I believe firmly that since I started watching TH-cam videos that your are one of the best doing it on this platform. I Started watching this and was nodding my head going, yup, yup. I agree with so much of this. This is super helpful y'all! Pay ATTENTION! I mean, if you want to learn and grow and get better at this.
A video of yours popped up when I searched for MPC related content, and you seemed very straight to the point and down to earth. Checked your channel out.. I am absolutely baffled by your rollercoaster journey in life so far, and I’m in deep admiration of your attitude. Happy I’ve found another quality channel, thanks for putting out such great content mate! Needless to say I am a new subscriber ;)
Subscribed. Super helpful tips and straight forward which is admirable. I'm definitely gonna start layering my drums cuz it sounds like that's what's gonna get me the drums I want. Finding root notes is something I need to start doing cuz I've been putting it off forever.
I love your videos and have been following you for about three years now! These 10 I have printed and thumbtacked to my home studio wall. Thanks for all the great advise.
oh yea 100% on the last tip. ive had no inspiration or luck with a sample then ive revisited it mabye a few days or weeks later and ive created something amazing! ties in to the take breaks step also.
Ok right, I need to ask this because SURELY someone has but….please tell me someone has sampled your intros and made a tune out of it?!!! All those chown pops, could be made into a great track!!! If it’s been done, please link me up AB 😊
very valuable tips and great content, i like how u explain sometimes that a basic hat or not focusing too much on the details is the best, its not about black and white in music, bravo!
Few from me; Clean up your palette! Once you think you're done with the sample, lower the volume of it to zero and bring it back up until it blends in. It makes it a whole lot easier to level it correctly when you "reset" your palette 😊 And don't be afraid to delete the old samples if they don't sound right, usually your instinct is correct and the sample will never sit right in the mix. I agree with the reverb, but I'd extend it to "room". Don't create effects the room can and does create; reverb is the most dominant of those. Boosting sub 30hz frequencies because your headphones don't play them otherwise by 20db is another 😄
Good tips, last night I was getting mad frustrated trying to chop a wah wah guitar and make it groove the way i wanted. I'm an emcee first and foremost so sometimes I get lazy on the production and want to rush it. Especially with hardware lol 😆
Have you ever tried to sample CD's? I have hundreds of them and seems like a better idea than starting a vinyl collection. What do you think? I can't find any tutorial on how that could be done anyway, but I wanted to ask.
Tip 1, while all these tips ARE good, there are also a plethora of examples of beats made by producers we all listen to, who don't follow these rules. At the end of the day if the feeling is right go with it. Your music should express you. A good mix doesn't make a good beat. But it sure does help.
Your videos always help but I have a weird question. It seems like when I was using an Mpc at the store and also from when I had one years ago that when I performed drums the recording was more groovy than anything I’ve done on the Maschine. Have you found this true? I just ordered the mpc one because I’m feeling that way. Is there a trick to making them feel more like that on the maschine?
thanks for that. i think the frequencies thing will be most useful to me, becuase i often find sounds disappearing in the mix [ on playback] and being able to fix with eq may be an efficient solution.

Are you on Truvada?
What app was that on your phone to find root note.
What key detector app is that on your phone???
Very sound advice (pun intended !)
