    This is for my Upcoming project which is a vehicle with track and a fpv camera so stay tuned for that video as well in the near future.

    Thank you for this. I was going to add an outside yagi point towards the outside 2.4ghz solar/UV station that I made. I had an old wireless print server that had the pigtail for the ext antenna.
    I did the mod today and signal went from -80dB to -53dB. Distance from router to device approx 125'. I am very pleased I did this.

    I completed this mod to a couple esp32s. So far I have seen a noticeable difference in wifi capability! This definitely works!
    My esp32 is in a shop ~50 ft from my home, behind 2 walls. It monitors my solar panels. And it's acting as an access point for any device in my house that wants to connect and see the panels stats.
    The solar panel controller does come with bluetooth, but we all know what the range of bluetooth is like. :(
    So - I read the data with the esp32 then broadcast it towards my house.
    Before this mod, I didn't have a signal in my house at all. Couldn't even see the AP.
    Now, I'm actually able to get data - most of the time at least.
    I'm going to make a DIY biquad antenna for the esp32 and a raspberry pi in my house to see if I can increase both ends of that signal really well.

    feel free to remove the antenna outer cover, just the wire enough will give you better range than before ofcourse less than full antenna but might be just enough for your purpose, this is helpful for tight spaces and gives you more flexibility

    Are you sure the antenna wires are touching the contacts on the board? If it is only touching the solder, then it won't work because solder is not very conductive.

      @@INOVATRIXBut it can't work as well as if all was property impedance matched.

  • @guntherschadow9383
    @guntherschadow9383 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Did you match the impedance? The cable and antenna you use has 50 Ω impedance? Because I think that this PCB antenna is a 50 Ω antenna. And you are soldering to the antenna section, not the feed point. So you can easily screw up the performance to be worse than if you just leave it as it is. Although, I don't see any matching network, so perhaps there is no matching network needed because the PCB antenna might be 36 Ω? But you need to match the cable and antenna hardware to it.
    I checked your antenna link and there it says 50 Ω, and that would be fine if there was a CLC π-network to match the ESP32 pin impedance with the antenna impedance of 50 Ω, but there isn't, so I think they used a PCB antenna that is matched to the pin, not 50 Ω, which means you should be putting in a matching network!

    Way too much work and can't believe you don't know this but Espresif with their ESP32 boards did some cost savings which lead them to remove any external connectors they didn't see users utilizing its range...and maybe a few cents but if making hundreds of thousands maybe millions of the boards it adds up. BUT, what they did do....sure they removed the larger sma or ipex...but you don't have to do all that cutting/ scraping. Possibly getting cancer from breathing the dust(you did wear a mask while scrapping right? That black protective coating is highly carcinogenic)... but that black layer actually peels off leaving behind a couple small glue spots... all you need is to buy ipex connectors. The little ones.. and peel the black off- be care full...it's also very thin and difficult to do...once you do, just place he ipex connector on the glue spots...no need for solder either. Just take care with attaching the antenna and try not to have to disconnect reconnect too many times. Hope that helps.
