I really felt that is was a complete re-tread. In my opinion, pixar is getting good reviews for mediocre feels based on how good their films used to be. Did appreciate finding dory's themes about disability though
You're completely right. Finding Dory is a frustratingly mediocre, emotionally empty cash grab. But I disagree about the theme about disability, and think it does more harm than good. The audience is meant to sympathize with Dory and her condition, but then we're *also* meant to laugh at a mentally unstable bird and a mentally challenged sea otter. The message is inconsistent.
I didn't even see the first and could sense it was a copy. Dumb fish causes trouble again and again for the sake of adventure. Liberal message of accepting Dory for her issues, yet laugh at that seal (think it was a seal) who seems slightly retarded and is constantly bullied and not allowed on the rock. Nice job Pixar
I really liked this movie, to me it didn't feel like a sequel leeching off of the first movie's success. It felt more like its own movie. The storytelling was nuanced and clever, swapping between past memories and the present and fast paced timeline. It takes unexpected turns, and I found myself being really engaged by this movie - much more than I thought I would be, as the story changed and the motifs introduced finally started to come together like a puzzle. In a way, the viewer feels like dory; they are discovering her past with her, and it truly is quite a wonderful story. Add to that the wonderful animation and characters, and this movie feels like it's own.
Hank is not a septopus. He is a heptopus. Losing a leg doesn't mean switching from Greek to Latin suddenly. Even though Octo is found in both Latin and Greek, the pus bit means it has to be Greek. Otherwise he would be a septopede (as in centipede or milipede). On the other hand he is also completely amphibious so maybe he's not your typical cephalopod and is entitled to a weird hybrid name. I found it uncomfortable to watch him spend so much time out of the water though. Apart from that the film's really good, and the version of Unforgettable performed by Sia rounded it off very nicely.
He had it in his best of 2015 www.theguardian.com/film/2015/dec/13/mark-kermode-best-films-2015-girl-walks-home-inside-out-carol-the-falling-brooklyn and actually thought it should have won the best picture Oscar. No full review though sadly.
yet, you saw the title knowing it isn't mark reviewing the film, but you clicked on the video anyway and commented. yeah, looks like you really don't care 😂

+doody magoob Just noticed what you said. I agree 100% that the otter was a target for jokes yet we must feel sad for Dory.
Special Snowfake I'm glad someone else felt the same way! I generally love Pixar, but this was a major disappointment

Robbie is a strong fill in for Mark
Yeah he's good int he.
I personally prefer James King.

Robbie Collin looks like Bob Mortimer's character from Vic and Bob's Mulligan and O'Hare :)
Is Mark Kermode not responsible for reviewing Pixar films or something? Because he didn't do 'Inside Out' last year, either.
He has the school holidays off, which means he misses all the big kids films
Ah. That makes sense. Still a shame, though!
Inside Out was his favorite film from last year, I believe.
In spite of being on holiday, he ends up reviewing the prominent releases anyway.

Robbie Collin rocking the 70s Paul McCartney look
Robbie is a much better critic than Mark... 7 minutes of actual analysis... Mark would have spent 4 minutes telling us the plot
To be fair, there weren't many films to review this week so they were able to spend more time on each one.
I'm not going to let any reviews stop me from seeing this film!
You realise his review was positive, right? And if you don't care about reviews,, why watch a review of it?
She said there was a where's wally scene during the credits. At first i thought she meant Wall-E, this being Pixar.
Really don't care what he or anyone says I AM seeing this movie!!!
😄

Then what are you even doing here?
I'm entitled to my opinion. Just as you are entitled to disagree with it should you want to, as you did.
Provided not "providing" in the context you used it.
what kind of accents are these?
Scottish
If its not Mark Kermode, then I don't care.
Okay
