Walking to Pike Place Market At Night From Westlake Center | Downtown Seattle Christmas Lights 2021

In this video I explore Westlake Center and Westlake Park in Downtown Seattle and check out the Christmas lights. Afterwards I walk to Pike Place Market via Pike Street.
This is a night walking video that will hopefully give viewers a feel for what it's like to walk around in these areas of downtown Seattle in the evening. Some people say 3rd Avenue and Pike Street is one of the more unsafe or dangerous areas of downtown Seattle but I'll leave that up to the viewers to decide.

I lived at Green Tortoise hostel back in the year of your video. Right near Pike Place Market. Saw plenty of sketchy people. I felt fine walking in daytime only. I took the busses found my way around. Then I watched Seattle is Burning documentary and whoa...mind blowing

I have been homebound in my downtown Seattle condo since January 21st last year when the 1st covid case broke out here. This video makes me feel like I am out on the street and enjoying downtown Seattle holiday festivities. My son lives in Seattle for 21 years now, so I recognize a lot of these places since I have visited many times. However I am from Chicago and find the lights here in Chicago very beautiful compared to Seattle. You just have got to know where to go like any city and keep safe. Happy Holidays!

Ride the Duck is long gone. Do Pike Place, Space Needle, maybe go 30 minutes out to see Snoqualmie Falls.
Amazing how much Westlake Center has CHANGED! When I grew up in Seattle, Westlake just consisted of a 2-story Bartel Drug Store, with the Downtown Monorail Station next door. The first Nordstrom was across the street to the South as a single story small Woman's Shoe Store that later expanded to a large multi-storied Department Store. Then a Seattle's Best Coffee came in just in front of the Bartels!

@@LaoOcean Yes. Boris Johnson tried to light it today, but didn't push the button right. So it didn't light up. Westlakes one is more impressive.

I will be arriving at around 9:00 pm at the Westlake light rail station and have to walk to Green Tortoise Hotel (almost in front of Pike place market) with a big suitcase alone. Is that safe?

So I took the day off, just exited the Seattle Street car on Jackson across the street from BofA and there you were on your walk in the International District. I commute through (under more like) Seattle twice a day but it's been years since I've stopped and walked around there and even longer ago at night when I had to pass through at midnight on the buss. It's really pretty this time of year.

We were just there from Salt Lake City this past thanksgiving weekend and enjoyed the city downtown and the surrounding areas as well. We also took the drive down to Portland to visit some family. We love the PNW now that we've experienced it. Chinatown was my favorite place lol thanks for sharing

I live just South of Seattle, with all the homeless and crimes in the area I don't go downtown anymore, Westlake looks so empty, it wasn't like that before.
I agree. It’s sad what has happened to Seattle. But people get what they vote for.
Work down there during the day and would Only do this lock and loaded at night. Too much crime and mugging

I stay downtown when I visit from the U.K. normally jetlagged I’ll wander around pine and pike corridors in the early hours and there are sights to behold 😂

THAT'S ONE THING ABOUT SEATTLE DOWNTOWN THEY REALTY DECORATE THE AREA WITH THE LIGHTS AND EVERYTHING.ITS REALLY FESTIVE. I LIKE WHEN THEY HAVE THE SKATERINK AND THE CAROUSEL.

Would you ever do a walk down Pike from Cap Hill to Pike Place around 11pm on a Friday or Saturday and then on a Tuesday. I would like to see that, as that is a route I walk for so many years until I had to go back to Canada after the pandemic started

I think the unsafeness was do to the fentanyl epidemic, that's winding down and we are moving into better time, optimistic seatle is getting safer

Seattle is much safer than California cities like Oakland and San Francisco. These two cities in California are very dangerous where you are more like to get robbed or your car broken into at anytime of the day. Car break-ins and smash & grab robberies in San Francisco are very common and you just have to file a report online because the police will not come at all. San Francisco has became a a playground for criminals where crime and taken over the city along with growing homeless population. Now Oakland is on another level where someone is killed by gun violence every single day. Bullets fly in all directions in Oakland than the police officers are quitting faster than they can hire new ones. Bottom line is state of California has became a lawless state where there is barely any consequences for crime here. People are scared to walk on the streets these day because at any time you will get robbed or car jacked no doubt.
