This girl is amazing especially when it comes to tricks / tips like this bc she doesn't just do the normal things that most beauty gurus do, she has a more scientific approach to it (not the best description but y'all get it?), playing with lights and shadows etc... This particular tutorial is great for taking photos, for daily use I think you need to blend the lip liner a bit better into the lips, but all in all wonderful job!

You really grasped the idea of creating dimension. What you've just done was contouring and highlighting the lips to render depth and dimension. Nicely done. I can tell that you're an artist, aside from a makeup artist.
I think part of what makes your tips/ tricks so fantastic is because you approach them the way an artist/ painter would. Your tips end up looking so natural, beautiful and never overdone as we see so often nowadays. Just beautiful♡
I love your videos because it goes over what I've already seen other people do, but you explain why you do certain things and how each step makes it better. You also give different options for different shapes. Especially for makeup, a lot of styles depend on specific facial structures that many people vary in.
i like how wearable is this. most of youtubers that do this either have huge lips already (from birth or surgery) or over do it and make it look cartoonish. you make it simple and realistic! ps: a suggestion, could you do a video on nose and face contouring anytime?
I've seen a lot of videos on youtube about contouring your lips but I've never really tried them because the youtubers who were making the videos already had big lips or the lips just looked too fake. But your tutorial looks really natural and I even think it would suit me because of my thin lips. Please continue what you do because you are one of the few people on internet that I actually learned somehing from.
you really are an artist... knowing how to use the light and dark, knowing the right levels of matte vs shiny and placement of those contrasting things. I really enjoy the way you explain the different techniques - very well spoken and with simplicity. finally someone who doesn't waste her words, and gets right to the point. great tutorial!
I think the reason you are so good Aly, and the reason the best MUAs are so good, is because they are artistic to begin with. You seem to look at a face from an artist's perspective and see how shade and light and subtle colour changes will work to create particular looks. Rae Morris is the same as is Wayne Goss and the Chapman sisters - I don't know if they are artistic but I'd lay money they are. Not me, I can follow directions but I can't picture how the technique will turn out, wish I could. Your analysis of how light falls on the mouth and is shadowed by the nose etc. is incredible. And spot on.
I will never look at any other makeup tutorial other than YOUR'S ! YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT WOMEN WANT TO HEAR ! Also, other tutorials have too much talk and not enough action on the real issue or topic...you get right down to it. Thank you once again :)

omg!! this is what i do with two differences. 1) i actually use bronzer powder under my bottom lip to make it look heavy,as if it is leaving a shadow. 2) i go over my liner with 24 hour lip product so it does not smudge. People always ask me how i look so different and that's it! it really works. although i normally don't pay as much attention day to day on my top lip and often only shadow the bottom lip as it is so easy and works.
Omg amazing as always!!! I've tried this but wasn't using a lip pencil darker then my lips and it looked ridiculous, i just tried it your way, the right way, and it looks great....thanks again Aly for the confidence you have brought out in me

So the lines you drew with the white pencil is an amazing idea to bring the lips forward and with detail. Ive seen this done before but with the colored lip pencil, not the white. 😘
Great tip and tricks. Usually when you see someone over draw their lips it looks fake. The way you did it was very realistic. You look great with large lips.

U can also but a bronzer or a shadow shade under ur bottom lip to make it look like its soo big its forming a ahadow
