Back in March (2024) when I visited (explored) The Philippines for the first time for a month... I flew into Cebu... then flew to Borongan City / Eastern Samar.. and I rented a car and drove around Eastern Samar and Leyte (Tacloban City) .. The San Juanico Bridge in Tacloban is awesome/amazing. I actually saw it from the airplane while I was flying to Borongan City. It's a beautiful region of The Philippines.
Nice. Seems a lot more tame than Manila. I get what you mean about the beggars in the church. They're just trying to pull a guilt trip on the parishners. Usually churches help these people out, like they have programs to help them out with food and shelter. Anyways looking forward to more from Lay's home province.
Perhaps even Lay thinks she is Thai or Malaysian after being mistaken for a local so often. To be fair she doesn't really eat pork so that would make her less aware of the ingredients of pork sisig. You two were feeling romantic, booking the Matrimonial Suite 💕
Hello Tom and Lay ‘ After Tacloban You go headed to Ormoc city ‘ because it’s beautiful and clean City ‘ Gorgeous couple’ Go around there , enjoy I am amazed your you tube all the time
Hello From USA! My sister married a guy from Tacloban Waray maupay Lay mahusay, meaning good and beautiful, we’re from Cebu originally but Tacloban is always nice to visit every now and then, my sister lives there now, they own pharmacy internet cafe’s and copier machine shop and refilling stations, say hello to them from me now living in the USA.
Wow lovely church, we always visit the churches in every city we visit even tho we are not religious 🫢 love the province vibe and the different reactions you get from people compared to Manila
The dried fish from Tacloban, Leyte, is delicious - not too salty. A care package of dried fish from Tacloban, Leyte. I like the kind Filipino expressions such as, "I smell delicious dáing (a type of dried fish. Someone is cooking delicious dáing." However, if the dried fish tastes too salty, sometimes, Filipinos might say, "This dried fish is from Hell."
Sisig is my favorite I ate it several times when we were in the Philippines in June. That's a nice big 🌶 on it and yeah gotta have the calamansi. I have two calamansi trees growing in buckets here in the USA so I can bring them inside for cold weather.
Everyone says Leyte has the hottest women with black hair and black eyes. "Backpacking with banger"s gf and "Tim K"s wife are proof of that and Lay as well!
Nice to see you two in Tacloban, my asawa is from Abuyog, she is Waray and our daughter is at Medical School there in Tacloban. Now I am guessing where is Lay from if three hours from there? I am also guessing you are already back in Manila but if not Tom you might find Palo interesting with the MacArthur Memorial where he famously returned. My asawa's grandfather was in the resistance movement during the Japanese occupation and assisted the American forces when they landed along that coast. Hill 120 at Dulag near there is interesting and includes three memorials remembering the Leyte Landings on October 20 1944; it was the first high ground taken and looked inland. If you want to visit Imelda's former luxurious beach property at Tolosa it is possible if you ask around but not on any official tour.
Where are you from lay. When I’m there I spend my time south near sogod. Tom if you guys head down that way I know a place you can stay and my bike is also there that you guys can use.
May i comment on toms ecounter to people begging inside the church ...of course it should be one thing that the church authorities should watch also i agree with what tom says that people going to church are not all rich mostly are vulnerable and went in to pray for help financially...but i disaggree on toms remark generalsing all filipinos...here in ilocos u can t see beggars inside churches...there may be few on the streets but they are the one singin and with dis abilities..
@Tom & Lay. Am the same as you Tom i love my pork ces cig. Would be one of my favorites and had it quite a few times in Makati. Seems nice there tacloban.

Sorry i am a geek with no life but I think this would’ve been a little bit better with the DJI Action 5 pro, and the DJI mic 2’s. So easy to film not needing a receiver. And there’s backup recording on the camera and microphones . $800 investment but it’ll be worth it maybe . But I guess the sound is good enough already
Before the pandemic there where many good places to eat lots of seafood,I used to have GINGER Wok resto in Robinson's we were the first to introduce thai food to tacloban its still operating but I have heard it's not the same.

You have to pick up some chocolate moron before you leave! And go eat at Giuseppes for dinner. So if Lay is from roughly 3 hours away….. would guess Gen McArthur. Southern Leyte is very nice and alot less people so it is still very quaint and the development hasnt ruined it yet. You two should go down to Padre Burgos and go swimming with the whale sharks.
It's funny you mention German because if Filipinos have any European blood from 400 years of European and European-American colonialism it will likely be German or Irish because of the American influence and nearly 70% of Americans having German ancestry. The Spanish didn't really mix that much. In the US a darker skinned Mexican-American will be told by their grandmother that they are related to some great native chief and when they take a DNA test they are 60% German and the rest Mestizo. Filipinos are told the same about the Spanish but learn very few do after a DNA test. It's estimated that 5%-10% have German or Irish blood. Some Filipino scientists claim it could be much higher. Like 30%. Get her a DNA test. Might be interesting. The greatest level of DNA testing for Filipinos occurs in the US but it's only been under 10k total. In a country of over 100 million there is plenty that is still not known about their current ancestry.
OK Tom years back I was at a party and my brother and his friends came to ask me for some money. I asked what for I was drinking and having a good time and they thought hit me up while I was drinking. I wasn't drinking that much yet lmao. The party was lame so I was about to jet anyways. I told my brother no because the only reason he wanted money was to have his own party. However I had an idea I thought well I have my brother and a few of his friends I will buy a couple cases of beer and they can carry it. I am one smart cookie. On our way home and the guys were carrying my booze with hopes I will give them some 3 old ladies stopped us. One old lady looks at my baby brother and said you are a sinner. My brother said you are f an a right I am. The lady said again you are a sinner. my brother said look lady I just agreed with you now move on. The lady would not leave him alone and I said hey its time to jet. The lady then looks at my brother and said you need to be healed. I started laughing and said lady nothing is going to heal us. Just as we start walking off the lady screams out sinner sinner you need to be healed. I said man this lady is wacked. My brother told the lady again listen I don't have time for this. The lady did not give up and said you are a sinner you need to be healed. So my brother had enough of her crap and said ok lady heal me. She said a couple words and then smacked him so hard on the head he almost fell on his butt. He said that damn lady hit me. Then he said lady you are crazy. The lady walks up to me and said you are a sinner. I made a fist and said I dare you to try that and heal me. She said you would hit an old women I said you bet I would and she left. On the way back home we all talked about it and started laughing. We still to this day talk about that night and laugh. The funny thing was the lady really did almost lay my brother out with that hit to the head and she looked like she was 1100 years old.
