  • I have lots of videos on how to change your hot tub's water, but even more important is WHERE to drain your hot tub's water when it's time to change it. And how to avoid killing your lawn due to chlorine.

After all, that water is not only hot, but highly chlorinated with other chemicals too. And done incorrectly, it could kill grass, trees, flower beds and more!

Hi Jeff, another informative vid. I pump my water out, which is treated with Flushout prior to draining, onto my paved patio that has a gully drain down one side. It gives me a good oppertunity to give the paving a good brush down.
Just as an aside, a girlfriend of mine, we worked together as police officers (English Bobbies), runs, I think its called, Yellow Rose, horse carriages in San Antonio. Her name is Stephanie. It would be a great suprise if you looked her up when you are in town. Cheers, Big Steve, East Yorkshire, England.

Well, now I am stumped. I don’t have an open area to drain to in my yard. I will admit I ran the hose to the curb. Is it possible to run it down my kitchen sink like the other person suggests?

You can totally drain to a sink. The best spot would be the lowest height drain in your house, maybe a basement utility sink or bathtub. If the level of the sink is below the bottom of the hot tub, then you don't even necessarily need a pump, and can let gravity and siphon action do the work. But if it's a kitchen sink you'll likely need a pump to move the water uphill. I use woodworking clamps to hold the hose in place in the sink, and you'll want to watch things carefully to make sure the pump doesn't run faster than the sink can drain the water.
I use a smart plug adapter together with my pump, so that I can switch the pump on and off while standing by the drainage sink.
