My hubby Gerry loves your filming and info he's same age as you and fished since 7 years old he says bravo for what you do it's brilliant . All the best
that's not only good for you not having too spend all of your money in leads but also helps the environment greatly! it's always a good thing to take a look around and take some tossed or lost line and hooks so they can't harm anyone or anything
ialways find some nice stuff when i go fishing, leads, line, swivels..hooks, lures... you name it.. the spot has it... dont even need to take bait... will always find some left over bait squids, shrimps, sardines etc..
Hi Graeme, Some good tips there, good to see you clean up the potential snags as well, less chance of hooking up on them as well, doing yourself and others a favour. Just be very careful on spring tides as they do come in at a rate of knots, don't get cut off from the incoming tide, wondering around the beach with no escape from the beach. Please don't use any damage shock leaders, you're end up adding the crack off lead to the water or someone will get hurt. Great video TAFishing cheers Colin.
Graeme, That grey stretchy leader is 100% Drennan Greased Weasel Shockleader. Next time you're in a tackle shop have a look for it. I have used it tying 5-turn grinner knots on my traces; I find it has best seated knots from the various brands I've tried. Keep up the top-quality videos 👍
one time i managed to fish up a whole fishing rod, looked like it had been laying on the bottom of the ocean for years. but the sinker was still usable :)
I've totally done the same thing when the city drains the canal. You can find some nice lures if you look. A great way to save a couple bucks on tackle
The stretching leader could by power gum Gardner made it,usefull as a shock leader but is funny stuff to tie knots in also good near the hooklink to stop the carp using the lead to pull the hook out
Winters a good time to scavenge as there is a period when the lows coincide with darkness or unsociable hours so no one is out looking . Also after any matches as you get the pendulum casters breaking off. . Perhaps a video on float fly and spinner retrieval from trees and bushes. I have a handy little hook thing on a string that you put on your rod tip and push up into the offending branch and hook the hook on. Take your rod down and pull on the string --often brings the branch within grabbing distance. Great vid again .
Tackle hunting used to be a favourite end of session activity in my younger years, usually after the mackerel bashers had departed........starting now and ongoing through until Autumn. I think you might just have revived the pastime. Certainly made me smile. All the best Graeme.
Bloody hell Graeme! Well done for finding all of that tackle! I have to say you probably found more rigs and weights on that day than i do in a whole year! Your tackle box must be quite heavy now i bet!
as someone said earlier , the grey bait clip is called a breakaway imp, they r fantastic , as the name suggests they our made by breakaway which is a company in ipswich UK , for people outside the UK , they our designed to hold work baits for distance casting to make the rigs more streamlined , it also means you can use leads with just grip wires on or leads with no grip wires on called bombs , breakaway tackle also make the impact sheids which our made for bigger baits : ie bluey , mackeral or large squid baits ......have a look online at breakaway tackle .both bait clips our used to make the rigs more streamlined so you can cast further ...with a pendulum cast and a clipped down rig some uk anglers can cast these rigs 200 yards ...hope this helps .......
*Hi Graeme, the grey plastic impact clip that is near the weight is called an "Imp Clip" they are very good i use them on my rigs.* *Another favourite of mine are Gemini Solo Bait Clips but they are very expensive (£2.50 for 5), you can get around 50 imp clips for £7 on eBay, have a look, all the best*
If you ever come down porthcawl pier in porthcawl at low tide there is loads of weights, swivels, clips and beads and hooks down there which I reuse but not the hooks as there rusty
Great fun. Here we cast out a grappling device for them and it's as much fun as fishing seeing what you get. Best time is after a competition where people are using 15lb line for long casting which is unsuitable for the area. People who collect this stuff are doing a great service for wildlife and also for other fishermen. We also get kayakers grappling and getting tons of gear because when a line cracks off it goes out further than it would have as the momentum is released. It is sickening at times seeing the litter fishermen leave. I would join with Greame in asking people to please tidy up after yourself. I buy supermarket brand pedal bin liners and take some with me they are really cheap.
Brilliant video as always, just noticing the beads you found. As i am more of a fly fisherman and not sea i was wondering what they were for, attraction or just as a stopper ? thanks and tight lines!
Beads can help to construct a rig and as you say act as a stopper or buffer, however they are also brilliant attractors for many fish, cod, bass, rocking but most of all flat ties love the colour. Hope that helps. :)
I have found a lot while fishing. A fishing rod., a reel, some spinning lures very nice ones, leads, all sorts of tackle. even an inflatable fishing boat..never found the owner of the boat.. :/
and, I don't know if someone already said anything about it, the imp rig really isn't any good for carp. we actually tried something alike over here and got tangled every single cast with the usual carpfishing leader material! Normal carp rigs fly just as far for my concern
Agreed, I looked at the idea a while back and it was very difficult to make both functional and fish safe. When functional it performed badly in terms of hooking properties and so rarely landed in an effective manner
There is a big log in the middle of my local river that all of the new people cast over and lose their lures on. If it was ever to be pulled up there would be 100s of dollars of gear stuck to it. Too bad it would be impossible to do without a crane
Great video, although if you do metal detecting as a hobby as well it makes this a lot easier. I find lots of fishing gear and other metal objects which I could use as weights :p
If you are fishing off the pier use pulley rig with mackerel or squid or if you get the tide right go to the land mark where you walk round to the pier there is a place there they call flat rock same way of fishing good for bull huss and the odd smooth hound with the crab. There is a tackle shop by the pier the guys name is John and he is a very helpful chap.
So true, our beaches get you so few fish one finds very few anglers on them... However, binnenkort zitten er met hopen bakvisjes op het strand. (too bad it is a wordplay that cannot be translated to English.)
I live in Scotland and enjoy hill walking and I really get annoyed when I see an empty beer can lying under a ledge surely if you can bring a weighty full can up a massive hill you can bring a light empty one back down
I don't litter but I don't worry too much about other peoples litter. That fishing line degrades very easily in the sun. The line might last thousands of years in a landfill, but it will only last a year or two in the sun.
it's called saving the wildlife. cleaning up all the lead and dangerous to wildlife manmade plastic garbage.. spark plugs do not contain dangerous lead.. good job dude.

At my local beach, I always used to scout about looking for balls of line. In the middle were always rig components. Kept me going for years ;-)
that's not only good for you not having too spend all of your money in leads but also helps the environment greatly! it's always a good thing to take a look around and take some tossed or lost line and hooks so they can't harm anyone or anything
This is how Graeme gets his fishing tackle!!
lol
Nice video
can you do more river fishing
+Zak Penton look at mine
+Zak Penton was u saying can u do river fishing to me or not
ialways find some nice stuff when i go fishing, leads, line, swivels..hooks, lures... you name it.. the spot has it... dont even need to take bait... will always find some left over bait squids, shrimps, sardines etc..
One man's trash is another man's treasure
facepalmfishing tackle is never trash :)
bit of a late one but i think finders keepers would be more appropriate here
I love collecting free stuff!

Never seen such intricate weights and rigs here in the states. Very intriguing.
I always looks for free tackle and take my kayak to piers and bridges when no one is fishing. Found all types of lures and tackle
I just take my dads gear, he never notices.
Haha brilliant
Johnny he noticed 🤐

I take a metal detector find the leads and remould them into Gemini's 👌
Your knowledge and excitement reminds me of my Father. Loving the videos

That hook loop is genius. Next time I make a batch of leads, I think i'll make a few

What a great guy can't help think he looks a bit like Bruce forsyth 😊
love going down to llandudno beach at low tide and finding free goodies

It is like going on a scavenger hunt. Nice haul on that scavenger hunt!
more great work graeme! always puts a smile on my face!
Brilliant vid shows you don't need to buy tackle to go fishing I respect u mr pullen tight lines
I wish everyone would do this. There would be so much less crap in the sea. You reward was some lovely free gear and rigging tips :) Great video :)
the leads at 8:30 , the ones with the bait clip are commercially made. I have a few i got from a tackle shop on the sussex coast.
They do grip leads here at least here in Maryland we do the bay is muddy so we need them to get out of it sometime
great finds, just about the first thing I do when I get to a spot is scavenge about for stuff.
Brilliant video as always, just noticing the beads you found. As i am more of a fly fisherman and not sea i was wondering what they were for, attraction or just as a stopper ?

Yes that's an imp, another great video. Keep up the awesome work
I found a carp weighing mat at my local lake 😄
i found a bedchair it was damaged at the hinge but a couple of nuts and bolts fixed it
Nash do a carp hooklink that stretches like that once submerged in water, think it has pva in it !
just around the 9 min mark, the little grey thing, i think is called a 'clever little devil / imp'
I have found a lot while fishing. A fishing rod., a reel, some spinning lures very nice ones, leads, all sorts of tackle. even an inflatable fishing boat..never found the owner of the boat.. :/
He Dead
Nice haul!
Have you or will you ever been fishing in the north east a lot of species mainly big cod
No,I have only fished up that way once.St.Abbs I think it was.Cod.
Swivel is the clip thing and the sliding thing is what the hook goes on to slide
and, I don't know if someone already said anything about it, the imp rig really isn't any good for carp. we actually tried something alike over here and got tangled every single cast with the usual carpfishing leader material! Normal carp rigs fly just as far for my concern

that strechy leader is probably titanium
Doubt it's any kind of metal... Unless it's a very small spring, but that just seems weird.
Perhaps , but considering the color I still think it's titanium
Titanium leaders do strech as u can se in the link. I use it myself for pike fishing and alot of other people do here in Sweden
very helpful to know, do you sell any gear e.g tops, jumpers , massive fans of u guys!
Hi Nathan, yes we do! Link to our clothing website in the video description
Awesome guy!
uk anglers use very complicated and expensive rigs lol. you can use car's spark plugs as weight, free and do the job.
Most people fish commercial lakes around here, If you pull up with a Spark plug as a weight, you'd be thrown out as quick as pulled in.
I used a padlock yesterday xD
Who has time to gap a spark plug when they're fishing?? ;-)
hahahahahaha
no you wouldnt, its sea a sea fishing vdo derrrrrr
Great video, although if you do metal detecting as a hobby as well it makes this a lot easier. I find lots of fishing gear and other metal objects which I could use as weights :p
Hi taf I'm going beach fishing in ilfracombe next month just wondering what bait to use
Crabs if you are wanting to catch smoothounds
Ok thanks :)

That first one in the USA is about 5 dollers
Where is the location ?
@7:14
grey thing is known as an imp clip.
do u sell any tackle
Turn over your ankle in a jiffy .. boots / strong footwear needed ... those boulders look very roundish/slippery
I've found free tackle thanks
Did this today at my local lake... Got 30 dllrs worth of crankbaits!
Pozdrawiam serdecznie i życzę miłego dnia
i call this natures tackle shop
People do the same crap in the states. Bring a giant trash bag and leave it in the damn bushes😠
it's called saving the wildlife. cleaning up all the lead and dangerous to wildlife manmade plastic garbage.. spark plugs do not contain dangerous lead.. good job dude.
pulley rig £1 ready made any tackle shop
hi guys, I have an idea. using small RC boats to free snagged fishing lines. Can you please make such an video
There's one thing worse than leaving your rubbish in bags in a hedge....dog walkers who pick up the dogs poo.....AND LEAVE THAT BAG IN A HEDGE!
I'll 2nd that one !...Seems absolutely pointless to take the trouble to bag it then expect it to biodegrade in 50 years.
I'm a great scrounger myself. Why pay for stuff when you can find it for nothing 😊
Exactly...there is an old saying.."A fool and his money are soon parted"...still true today.
👏👏👍👍
👍👍👍👍
Eighth
