Knife from the trenches: WWI TRENCH ART

Trench Art is a genre of folk art comprised of items created in wartime, or from war materiel. Paper-knives like this one were beaten out of the copper used to make the driving-bands of shells.
It is a testimony of what we, as a species, are capable of. Even in the worst of times, something beautiful can be created. Something that should remind us that peace, compromise and a little bit of beauty are the only solution.
