@@AnimalToast The main reason the equator is warmer is due to the difference in concentration of sunlight hitting the surface due to the earth's curvature. Being closer to the sun technically makes a difference, but it is insignificant due to how far away the sun is

I KNOW NOBODY CARES BUT im a physics student and proud of my knowledge.
Yimit asked if gravity would change if you crossed earth's core.
To answer that question, you have to understand where "gravity" comes from. Gravity is a force between masses. So any mass attracts another mass.
When we are on the earth's surface, there is a huge body of mass beneath us, pulling us toward it. That is what we call gravity in common parlance.
Now if you went INTO the earth, you have a different situation. Now you can analyze that problem by splitting the earth into 2 spherical parts.
1: The sphere that is "beneath" you now, which is basically a sphere with a radius smaller than earth's radius.
2: A hollow sphere that is "above" where you are.
Combining those 2 parts would make the whole earth again. It's kinda like an onion where you peel off a layer.
Now, the hollow sphere that is "outside", doesn't actually produce any force. That is because there is mass all around you. So when you get pulled, you get pulled from every side equally and that results in no force. So the only thing that actually creates gravity is the inner sphere that you are "standing" on.
This inner sphere is basically just a smaller version of earth, so you would experience lower gravity.
Now look at the extreme case, where you go to earth's core. If you look at the hollow sphere again, that now encapsulates the entire earth. So all of earth's gravity is now cancelled out. The sphere "beneath" you doesn't exist (or is very small), assuming you are right at the core.
So when you "go to the other side of the core", you wouldn't actually feel a drastic change. That is because the closer you get to the core, the lower gravity gets. And when you reach and surpass the core, you just experience very low gravity again, but now from the other direction.
