The pride of the Michigan panthers who connected on a handful of 60 yard field goals at Ford Field has spoken to the Lions according to the Detroit Free Press. I can not believe how good sweat is. If you had an award for traded player who makes the biggest impact it'd be all montez sweat. I was so hoping Detroit would get him. He was traded for a second rounder which I'm sure Detroit would have done but Chicago's 2nd would be 33 where lions were 61

Sweat is very good and ya would have loved to have him on the Lions. But the Lions didn't really have a chance like you mentioned, unless they gave up a 1st. That and having to pay him, while Hutch is the next to get a huge contract, just wasn't in the cards.
Yup. Perfect RDE. I think the only thing that prevented a trade was the fact Chicago had a higher pick. I think this team would have been unreal with a natural RDE working that side. Davenport will be good as long as he’s healthy. But sweat might make all pro this year.

I hope so. As far as tryout, Bates has been auditioning for the last 11 weeks in real game time play nail 50-60 plus field goals, whereas the other kickers on the Lions roster have never been able to duplicate.
Why is Baltimore looking at him when they questionably have the best kicker in the game right now
They might be thinking of getting a "cheaper" kicker that's just as good than the $6 million a year salary they are paying Justin Tucker.
The bears fans said how they would be battling the Lions for the division last year.. their dreamers in this city
it would definately be nice to have bates even just for the new kickoff, because he would have more experience with it than any nfl kicker.
