- Another Hikoki gun NR1890DC nail gun is in for repair. Another new problem was diagnosed and repaired.
This is a new one for me, havnet seen this fault before, so anyone having a problem like this, here is the solution.
This problem was the magnet on top of the contact probe. I only dismantled the gun yo find the fault. But if you have this problem, there is no need to dismantle. You can easily replace or repair the magnet with dismantling the gun.
If your gun is not firing like this.
Turns on, will go into service mode, is not showing any fault light, but will do nothing else. Then the problem will be one of only a few things.
This magnet on top of the probe.
The trigger switch.
Or the pickup sencor itself on the top.

Nice to watch someone who knows EXACTLY what he is doing.
Thanks man that’s my gun and glad to have it back and running again
They are a great gun I rather them over padlode. They have far more power slot quieter and faster to shoot nails 👍🏻
Ha, that's handy.
No need to ring on Monday to let you it's ready then.
Yea, seems every one is onenthe same page with the hikoki guns. Good power, cheap to run and you get your moneys worth.
If only had 3 so for that were beyond repair. But customers didn't mind as they had so much work done.
Cheers. Fixing one for a customer at the moment and thanks to you i went directly to the probe sensor and the magnet is missing. Many thanks Dean
Enjoyable to watch you diagnose this for the first time. Love your customer service ethos too - breaking down a new machine so you have spares on hand. I wish all shops did this rather than push you to dispose and buy new.
I haven't had to repair any of my tools in a long time... Your videos are great...just love watching you work and learning what I might need to do should I ever need to do the work myself. 😊
Thanks for sharing. 👍
Another great video Dean I’m sure it will be of use to anyone who owns of these guns. I enjoy watching you problem solve Thanks
Impressive repair. Nail guns can be dangerous when primed. I am amazed that from a seemingly random scatter of parts you keep track of what part goes back where and in the correct order.
That’s the bit that gets me every time lol he just fires the part’s every where lol
Done it so many times he can probably do it blindfolded 😂
Great gun
Made me lotsa money
I've just brought a new hikoki first fix nail gun 👍👍
Thank you, sir, for sharing your hard earned wisdom and knowledge. You have saved me well over $1000 US since I found your channel. I just opened my $576 metabo cordless that I thought was toast to find a blown fuse.😊 Before that you taught me how to repressurize it when it quit sinking nails all the way. That's just one tool the many your videos have helped me keep on the job, not in the trash. I too get great pleasure out bringing tools back to life. Bless you from Georgia USA.
Glad to help
You are a amazing man for repairing power tools
great video what a set of hands this man has nice one
always enjoy watching another great video thanks
His experience is evident in every repair, watch closely & learn.
Love your videos. Very knowledgeable on almost any tool!
I appreciate that!
I think when the test nail board gets full it should go up for sale on a online auction 😀
A fakir would buy it as a cushion!
I’m a carpenter and I have this Hitachi cordless nailer as well as the gas Paslode framer. Both great guns but I reach for my Paslode 9 times out of 10 because of the weight difference. Plus I actually enjoy servicing the paslode. Buying the gas is just the price you pay to be light weight & hoseless.
Thank you for making videos of your work.
I have repair my milwaukee fraiming nailer by filling up air with a 5 $ piece now work fine these footage are good to diy
I fixed my 18G nailer watching him repair Hikoki guns. Really should send it in but figured I'd give it a try to recompress.
What did you use. Refill it. Seem some others use a air gun refil pump.
@deandohertygreaser used a hand pump and made an adapter for the schrader valve with a gauge. Tried to pump it to 90 but lost a touch of air everytime I disconnected and I think the valve itself made line pressure higher than tank pressure. I put 110 on it and it works fine now, it isn't perfect especially 2" nails into hardwoods but for everything else it still works. You're much better with these things than I am or ever could hope to be so I'm sure you'd find the golden ticket
Recently found your channel love it im watching everything just because i like to know how things work....when you take things apart and fling the screws across the bench makes me laugh i do the same thing when fixing stuff and my friends freak out about it! Keep it up i dig these long videos with multiple fixes!
This video was posted for an hour. CET is 3:40 AM here now. And you have 500 clicks. Nice!
Another great video Dean .
Nice trouble shooting Deano 👍 interesting video regarding the complexity of this technology vs the Paslode. 🤔🤔
Nice job Dean.
Great work Dean always interesting 🦘
Thanks Dean, another great video!
Where can I buy the adapter for re gasing the gun
I am also curious where you can buy that regulator at to repressurize the gun??
Or a part number would be cool
❤ the way you repair ❤
Hell of a fkn jigsaw puzzle that one was! Nice one - another one done!
He’s good.
He must have taken apart thousands of these it’s amazing how he remembers where everything goes lol
Likewise waiting for that new Makita nailer. They showed it in Las Vegas. I'll propably wait for the XGT monster.
Dean, do you know a good resource for the repair of the Metabo guns, got a different model (NR3675DD) but tries to shoot then blinking lights for error and shut off, then reset and does the same thing, you video was helpful in the taking apart, but looking for more diagnosing,
Nice repair! I would have dignosted this one at the start as being an electrical problem as it didnt even show any sign of life at all. But well worth taking it all apart and finding the magnet to be the problem.
Do you ever get any of the Makita DBN600 brad nailers for repair ? Those are spring based and a bit more complex then these Hikoki nailers. We don't get to see a lot of these Hikoki in the Netherlands it's mostly Senco nailguns here, the old ones worked with a closed nitrogen driver assembly like the Milwaukee, but the new ones have the same working principle as these Hikoki nailguns on air presure.
Yea, I see that. They were around showing them of a few weeks back. But spare parts for them are only becoming available now.
The Makita isn't spring based it also uses compressed air. But it built like the ryobi gun. Basicly uses a piston and pin built inside a large piston for compression.
Not a very good gun, no one like them and they can be a torture to work on.
@@deandohertygreaserHi Dean, I am a repairer in Australia and I'm having trouble with a hitachi/hikoki NR1890DBCL, and I'm wondering if you have ever come across this problem I've encountered. I replaced the pushing lever (B), reassembled and re-filled the chamber with air and the motor will not drive the piston back under any pressure, but when I release all the pressure the motor drives the piston back no problem.
I have read through the service manual and haven't found anything that addresses that particular fault, and hikoki Australia don't have a service/technical department any longer. So I'm kind of stuck and would appreciate any tips you can give. Cheers, Neil
Nice
Is it possible ro refill the air without the gas regulator and the compressor? Can it be done with a bicycle pump?
Hagi kamera kullanıyorsunuz acaba şuandaWhich camera now?
I have this gun. Yesterday after a shot with a 90mm nail, there was a click, and it stopped working. Both yellow lights are blinking, and it doesn't allow me to enter maintenance mode. It neither helps to swap batteries. I recently refilled the gun with air. It's 2 years old and has run maybe 10-15 000 nails.
Could have broken a pin on the pin wheel inside
Wow how do remember where the screws going there r so many.x
How does the little air cylinder regenerate air to keep the pressure up?
It dosent. It's a sealed system. The air never gets out. It is simply compressing the same air each time with the piston.
I have a Schepp variable speed Pillar drill with a speed readout but the readout is not working do you have any suggestions.
👍
Ive been searching for those wee regulators online where could i get one Dean?
🤘😎🤘
I would be so lost with all the parts everywhere.
any Holloway’s out there?
🧘👍
What about loose qubic part at 7:30? 😮
26:40 😉
Do you rate these nailers?
The best battery only nailers on the market so far. Or something like that, is what he's said in earlier videos
Yeah because all the spare parts are available to buy
My metabo does not shoot upside down....
They really should give the brand more names. And maybe change Metabo to MeKoki MTB but only in Germany.
I would have started by removing the nails first if it’s under pressure…
New Dewalt version on the way
Watched another vid of a re gas, the guy took the air line off the reg and slid a deep reach socket on the line loose to reach into cavity to hook up
I think you didn't connect the air to it
