    Varun, I passed my PMP Dec 5 2021 and you are a huge part to that. You know your stuff and can also teach it really well. You were recommended by one of my friends who bought your course and he and I both are in your debt. It's not enough to know Project Management, but the value you provide which I appreciated is you made us understand PMI's perspective on Project Management and THAT is key! again, thank you sir, you rock!!

    Thank you for very nice video with crisp explanation. What key takeaway points from this video is -
    Predictive - well defined scope, up front planning, allow minimum changes
    Iterative - Prototype, refinement cycles, make it perfect, one final delivery at the end - making product perfect where scope is complex and changing.
    Incremental - time boxed iteration (sprints), go feature live after each increment, deliver the value customer in each increment - speed of delivery is goal
    Agile - when complex and changing requirements which needs to implemented as perfect also with speedy delivery then we use mix of iterative and incremental which is agile.
    In this two types -
    1)time based agile (sprint time with specific fixed time for all iteration) - Scrum
    2) Flow based agile (no fixed timeboxing , take next task from backlog once you complete current) - Here how many tasks you can work at a time is controlled (WIP- work in progress)
    Hybrid - Mix of predictive + Agile - Here project decides which activities needs to be done in predictive which to be done agile. This life cycle will be accepted by the team how are moving newly from predictive to agile.

    C : We are using an Incremental Life cycle, as we will be adding features or functionality one iteration at a time until the final product is ready at the end of the last iteration. A: In predictive we develop the feature as a single product from start to finish. B: Iterative could be but as we are adding features during each iteration and not refining the product at every iteration. D : Hybrid is not in scope as its incremental approach is fixed already.

  • @jvsurtida

  • @valmuk8089
    @valmuk8089 ปีที่แล้ว

    Q1. The answer is B. Agile planning is progressive. Waterfall planning is mainly done upfront and that eliminates A& D. As agile planning is not done upfront but progressively, that eliminates also A. And B is the correct answer though the just in time concept was not taught in the notes....
    Q.2. The answer is C. The question makes it clear that more functionality will be added in each iteration but that after every iteration you have a finished product.... I referred to the example you gave in the lesson😊

    Hi Varun, First and foremost thanks for all your efforts and support for everyone preparing for PMP, thats mind blowing. Last question I got it wrong, I thought it is Iterative with the rationale who mentioned in the question that to fully make it functional. I thought Iterative is fully functional only in the last. But your explanation gave me some clarity with the example " Building" . I'm worried that in exam I might quickly chose a wrong answer between Iterative and Incremental.

    Michelle Stillwell:
    A: Incorrect because waterfall is NOT iterative
    B: Correct because Agile is iterative and just in time
    C: Incorrect because in agile planning is done throughout, embracing change; planning is not done upfront
    D: Incorrect because waterfall planning is not done in phases, it is done upfront

    Hi Varun, for the second question on development life cycle, I chose Iterative (B) because I felt the question stated "making it completely functional" which signifies final delivery once at the end and I know iterative produces one single deliverable at the end.

    • @EduHubSpot
      @EduHubSpot  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thats an excellent thought process. In incremental also the final delivery makes it completely functional. I will give you a real example. PMP exam changed and I had to update my slides, videos and questions. I updated each one of them and I launched it one after the other but it was only after the 3rd iteration when I would call my product complete because it had all videos, questions and slides fully ready.

  • @DB-mk7zh
    @DB-mk7zh ปีที่แล้ว

    A - eliminate - predictive planning is done upfront
    B - eliminate - iterative a single product is delivered at the end
    C - Incremental - This is the correct answer
    D - eliminate - would still involve predictive along with agile

    Michelle Stillwell: The question identifies that you'll be delivering in iterations and doesn't have indications that this is any hybrid project. I believe answer B is correct: Iterative.

    Well, it depends upon the industry as to which approach to adopt. For construction projects, we go for Waterfall and for IT projects we settle with Agile. I have served a decade leading projects in Waterfall approach so I am comfortable with it :)
    In IT the projects are incremental and require a lot of iterations

    Q#1 the answer is B as agile is iterative and incremental, incremental means just in time/ speedy delivery. waterfall model is based on certainity/ lots of experience and therefore it 'doesn't' need iterations

    B: Yes, Agile planning involves iteration and in time as well. Good choice.
    C: In agile, planning can’t be done upfront. It happens through the life cycle. Not an option.

If you are thinking how I know that you have passed the exam because I know you will do great just believe in yourself and make sure you get a good night sleep. That is very important. Also remember 90% of the time your first instinct will be correct. Don’t overanalyze the situation. Also make sure you are picking the speed right from question 1 because we have to complete the test on time. This is very important and finally if you have time then watch this video as well

    Option A: In predictive, we don't have iterations so this option can't hold true - Wrong choice
    Option B: This could be one of the answer as it's talking about Iterative approach here but perfection is missing - Wrong choice
    Option C: Definitely this is not incremental because final solution will be ready at the later stage only - Wrong choice
    Option D: This option looks like correct choice because one side we are saying we will follow iterative life-cyle by dividing the work into no of iterations but we are adding more work in each iteration i.e changing the scope of work which is kind of agile. So this will be my best fit. - Correct Choice

  • @nicojudd212

    Question 2: Answer is B because the deliverable is delivered at the end, but the development and work are done in iterations. This conflicts with A, where planning and development is done sequentially, conflicts with C where the deliverable is delivered early on in chunks after each iteration, and conflicts with D, because there is no mention of combining Agile and predictive.

  • @nitesh_gthead8772

    Answer is B 'Agile planing is iterative and Just in time' because by elimination technique: waterfall is not iterative. We do planning at the start, planning is not done phase wise where as in agile we do iterative or flow based approach

    Q1 - B Exp: A is not correct since Waterfall is not iterative ( eliminated) C is not correct since PLanning is not done up front ( it's actually waterfall so eliminated) D is not correct since planning is done in the beginning. So the answer is C since Agile planning is done through out the project - not up front
