I've been watching a lot of his recent vods and he looks very scary indeed. I think the only way he doesn't win ASL 17 is if he's taken out by Light or some unfortunate ZvZ rng.
It's hilarious that late 30s/early 40s is still relatively young in terms of life expectancy, but in e-sports you might as well be in a nursing home LOL...
It could be micro optimization from Best to not send workers. While you transfer workers - you don't mining. So if you keep them in the main for a while - you can make Core faster
Nice comeback from JD, it was a good response after losing and early drone but I am amazed he managed to hoard so many lings and still have a large batch of mutas ready at the same time. Maybe Best got too greedy with tech? He had his zealots out of position, had only 1 cannon and his corsairs were scattered all over the map. I'd like to think that if his first corsair had also scouted JD's third then he could have realised there was a cheese.
that decisive muta target fire on nexus, not flinching and chasing the zealot counterattack. he knew exactly what he's doing. went for it. executed perfectly. a real killer instinct moment. Jaedong's play is so sexy
Jaedong as usual with the absolute commitment to murdering his opponent. It's somewhat understated, people often focus on APM, multitasking, and other mechanical feats but sometimes, RTS favors the person who simply decides quicker. It's why Jaedong is my favorite player.
Was not moving the probes to the natural in time really a mistake? It's not like the main was saturated at that point, so no mining time was actually lost, right?
I don't understand how those lings did any damage. Smhw the zealots left their post and the lings just went in, and then even during that disaster the zealots had every opportunity to clog the top entrance and they just didn't. Complete fumble.
A number of them have gone on to play poker professionally as well. Some of them make/made very good money doing that, and it's less punishing on the wrists/hands.
I know how stupid I sound, but JD does not seem to play well nowadays. Bisu came back after the military and regained his strength in a couple seasons but Jeadong is not his former self anymore. I do root for him because as we've seen in this game, his decisiveness is on point and that's what made him the best zerg, but his micro is lacking to win ASL.
The Dong has been carrying significant wrist/tendon injuries since after his pro run in SC2's first two xpacks, so at least around 2015. Back when Remastered launched, this was 2017 and before he did his military service I think, he was already complaining that his performance was no longer up to par, mechanically. IIRC he even had a small depression arc where he went off saying that his past successes were due to pushing his body and that intellectually he was a poor player (which is completely false, mind, but should give you a hint what his state of mind was at the time). So I'd say it's the other way around - he's playing extremely well these days, and he's in fact commendable as a guy who overcame a career-ending injury and returned to being an ASL contender.
Hey man, ever think about casting in real life? You've got the perfect voice and commentary for it. The only thing that could hold you back is if you have a co-host that doesn't have any taste for the game.
Or you can learn to not need it. You just need 90 IQ to realize that you can simply look a bit off to the sides when you click on the video or squit your eyes so things are blurry or simply put your arm in front of your eyes so you block the comment area for the 2 - 5 seconds you need to go full screen. You can do it! With a bit of training and discipline, you can use the above to even block yourself from knowing the video length (which is great, so you don't know just when an attack will work or not).
@@Winnetou17 LMFAO yes this is the practical solution for us adults in this Brood War scene. No reason for respect when you can squint your eyes!!!! I fell out of my chair laughing so hard reading your comment thank you for that.
That Assimilator play was the sickest early-game hit I've ever seen
Jaedong was playing lore accurate Zerg
Watching Jaedong being that decisive almost scares me. You can definitely feel a rush of adrenaline.

Artosis: "Are we getting old?"
A: Yes. Yes we are.

@@mediocrates1937It will be so much fun when people will be playing this in their like 60-s :DDD And I am sure they will!
Artosis would have been screaming "THE EXTRACTOR DIDN'T MAKE!!" 🤬
Whomever said would of instead of would have, I saw that. That is all 👀

Dude that probe.. Literal Chills
Appreciate that your titles highlight key interesting plays/aspects of a match while generally not giving away the outcome
Probe is the best unit in the game.
I don't know if it was because it was Jaedong, but this was one of the most entertaining games I've seen in a long time.

really hoping best makes it far this asl ,he is playing really well atm.
That play by best with the extractor was so sick. Not sure why he let the lings leak thru, that equalized the game but it wasn't over!!
I was really impressed, that was a novel tactic I've never seen before, I love seeing all the innovations in this game.
Great game and excellent cast as always. Do you have access to the qualifier games that Queen lost? That’s be great to see
Protoss and their greed of not getting a few extra cannons up ..
Loving these quick and action-packed games.
Another great cast! That drone kill was fantastic.
best ive seen from JD in awhile to be honest. That was his solid FORM. even that starting probe fancy kill didnt even phase him.

💯
Brilliant game. Very happy with the result. Good moves on both sides. And even pros can make mistakes.
That what you get when you make Zerg angry.
Was not moving the probes to the natural in time really a mistake? It's not like the main was saturated at that point, so no mining time was actually lost, right?
Can someone please elaborate on the purpose of grouping the probe with the corsairs?
Probes are the ultimate troll workers
Jaedong is such an assassin
What a game
2:08 OHOOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOOHOHOHOHOH OH my God, 1000000$ moment)))
Remember when you lost to a two-probe protoss?
Pepperidge Farm remembers
6:16 Why did he pull the zealots off of the wall?
We are getting old. I just turned 31 in February.
2:07 MVP and then downfall from there xD
That best prob was sick to start GG love your shit
Best raised to be a very good players in the last 7-8 years ... back in the days it was just a protoss like many others.
Where can i download this replay?
Highest quality on both sides
Poor decision by Protoss. Time to switch to Minesweeper.
amazing game
❤ JD

Well remember what Leta said...somehow Jaedong's lings are just faster.

I wonder if Jaedong knows that his name is a euphemism.
This game is a disaster for Protoss.
Why did protoss remove his wall? Most stupid mistake.
What would a retired starcraft pro work anyway?

You have to be REALLY tuned in with Zerg, especially Jaedong’s style of ultra-decisiveness.
wrist problems for years, he can't play too much
This comment won't age well. Jaedong is about to win ASL 17.
Tomorrow, you'll get a taste of his ZvP and ZvT. He's going to 2-0 his group.
