Some older sights driving through Belleville, Shannonville and Deseronto, Ontario taking old hwy.2. and through Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory and into Deseronto.
Thanks for the tour! I was born in Belleville and my parents moved to Desoronto at an early age. I've been back many times to Belleville and each time I go it's changing a lot !
So much has changed and so much hasn't. Thanks for filming downtown, cool to see it before all the changes. Cool to see Jerry's market and Copperfields. The East end looked so dead then, like a ghost town
such a cool video remember going to belleville around this time before they had dennys by the highway we were the first few people at the grand opening in 1998. thanks for sharing
Nice video, thanks. I'm from the area, but moved away in 1973. I used to go back regularly to visit, though. You've included some nice scenes, such as the old BCI&VS, which got demolished later on. Nice music to go with this type of video, too. Thanks for posting.
I still have a brick from the school. When they were tearing it down, I was living in Toronto, but my step-dad hopped the fence and grabbed it to surprise me with lol.
1:47 The big house on the right (which was a funeral home) is no longer there -- demolished. 2:27 The Hotel Quinte (just past the traffic light, on the left side) is no longer there - sadly due to fire and demolition afterward. 2:48 BCI&VS - demolished.
@@RESmovies Yes, and in the photo that you see when you click on the link (cars going over the upper bridge), the taller white building on the left up ahead, is also demolished.
@@RESmovies Yes, apparently the City wanted the owner to do major repairs and they never got done. If I'm not mistaken, there was some structural damage so they decided it had to come down, no other choice.
interesting the business that have been around for over 20 years as well as those that aren't...and yes there was actually parking down town ...front street was one way south and pinnacle one way north and there was even traffic downtown in those days...so much for progress
Do you know exactly when this was taken? That guy pushing the stroller looks familiar, like my dad, i'd be the baby. and seeing where exactly that was, it's quite plausable
0:19 In 2019 that Taco Bell is now a combination KFC Taco Bell 0:43 The KFC on the right is now a insurance place 1:35 the Ultra is now a Metro 3:37 the glanmore house’s front yard no longer has a parking lot and is instead replaces with a nice white fence and some signs. The parking lot was moved to the back 6:59 that gas station on the right is no longer there
The nostalgia hits hard! Seeing BCI made me tear up a bit. I was in the last graduating class there.

You're welcome. I lived in Deseronto from 1980 to 1992. A special place for me. Belleville is a beautiful city.
@@RESmovies I moved away to the shore of Lake Huron in 1970. My daughter went to Loyalist College so we were in town a lot at the time.
Thanks for bringing back some memories. Would love to see one earlier than 1997 - maybe one back in the late 60s and early 70s.

I miss Belleville. So many memories back there. Glad you liked the video, as i remember it.
Front Street was still one way, Very cool. Thanks for sharing.
I remember when Belleville's downtown Front Street went one-way in the early 1960s.

@@lynnca1972 Nice souvenir!
The Belleville I remember! Thank you!

I was in disbelief when i heard about the funeral home being torn down.

@@sashineb.2114 I heard awhile back that white tall building was in really bad shape. I use to live in Deseronto.

Literally the only thing that's different are the vehicles, and a few stores
A lot less camping around the city then

That's not the Glanmore house. This is a house on the corner of Bridge and Charles.
5:05 the downtown theatre is gone
