Good luck and hope it goes well. Many of us are in the same boat but still work in the same profession we currently work in to pay the bills and have benefits. Seen so many attempt to go out on their own and fail, that's just keeping it real. Plan out the next five, ten, twenty years till retirement. At age 40, 50, 60, do you still think doing the You Tube thing and selling swag will be sustainable to bring in a monthly income? What other avenues could you branch out to and make income? Start your own motorcycle magazine web site, do reviews, customization projects, start going to races and covering them, same for rallys and destination rides. PS - Get rid of the helmet, no need for it now.
Man you started talking about the idea of quitting your job doing youtube fulltime when you were reviewing the new softails like 3 years ago lol. Life goal complete!
Everyone saw it coming but you lol. Just like we all secretly have a pool going. Which motovlogger will take your helmet off at the funeral” if we outlive you 🤪
Its kind of scary how much i see myself in you, from what you describe. From college to serving tables, to losing interest, not fitting in. Thank you for sharing.
So currently work in a data center and have been in the Telco/i.t. field for 11 years now and feel what you said so much man absolutely no sense of fulfilment doing this work.
Congrats man I hope you’re enjoying it so far if you’re pursuing TH-cam as full time best of luck to you man you’re an awesome content creator (I’d also like to see some more vlogs but do what you enjoy man!) love the content keep it up
I've always believed there are two different ways should should approach your job and your life... 1. Find something that you love to do, even if your not becoming rich, you'll be fulfilled through the work. Nurses and teachers for example. 2. Find something that will pay you well enough to do what you love and you can find fulfillment through those things outside of your job.
That's the real dream. Here I'm stuck doing jobs that pay okay but make me so physically exhausted I spend most of my free time asleep or feeling like death. Get to commute on my bike at least
Exact SAME THING happened with me, man! Always been creative since a kid - drawing, building things, and writing - so what do I do? Went to engineering school! Where I also forced myself through far too much advanced math, graduated, then hated the work. So went back to school for some CG Animation classes, and it was like the proverbial duck to H2O. My engineering degree now gathers dust, and I having been making pixels move professionally for 25 years now. You never know what tiny spark may start a fire, and totally change your life. Good luck on this next phase, BH!
Oh man, this video speaks to me in so many ways. I'm a Full Sail Grad (right down the road from UCF) and spent aobut 10 years designing video games. I loved the job but not the crunch and fact that I had to move out further toward the west coast. So I left that job and taught myself enough C#/Javascript to get a web devleopment job back home. I like the work enough but it's not my passion. Starting a side hustle with Photography/Videography and trying to teach myself Photoshop, etc now. Love the vids, awesome to hear about your background, great motivation for folks looking to work hard and pursue other fulfilling ventures. Cheers.
You're one of the very first influencers I've ever been to relate almost perfectly too. At 20 I'm out of school thinking about going back to music school after studying physics for 2 years. And that highschool clique thing? Felt that in my mf soul
The best thing I ever did was dropping out of college at 20, living life until 26, and then one day deciding “alright. I think I’ll go back” and went into Trade school. Changed my life.
YOU WERE MAJORING IN COMPUTER ENGINEERING!!!! Im bout to graduate from early college high school with an associates in engineering, and im going to go into computer engineering. Wow you are really a pretty relatable person.
>Blockhead talks about his life. >Me realizing I probably could be doing more in my life. >Blockhead: OOOOOO Chevelle SS! >Me: OOOOOO Something shiny! >We're not so different you and I. The ADD is strong in both of us.
I like to hear people's backgrounds and stories to understand where there coming from, different outlook on things, i just found this channel a month or so ago looking into bikes, groms and harley 883 to be exact, and im sure glad i did, you seem to be a cool, calm guy, and the way you show and teach just clicks with me, out of the 100+ channels i follow, this is one i look for every day for new uploads, thanks for the videos so far blockhead, and bought my grom about 2 months ago now, and once its legal, itll get broke in good, but now im trying not to trade it in on a fuel injected 883 and put a 1275 hammer performance kit on it
Very cool, meaning that (I) we get to know a little bit more about you. I've only been following you for a little more than a year. I hope some day to meet you like I met Josh aka Shadetree Surgeon. Can't wait to hear the rest. Stay safe out there.
Congrats yo!! Does this mean you are gonna do the long anticipated face reveal now that the anonymity isn’t holding you back lol!??!!??! Eh, either way man, I’ll still follow and watch your videos!! Blockhead nation for life!!
, Congrats! Excellent vid. An, def. enjoy learning more abt Da Man behind Thee Name. This type of content is very cool of you. I look forward to hearing more. Cheerz 🍻 .
I actually followed a similar path. However, I quit my design classes because I thought I just wasn't good enough. Then a couple of years later my typography was at an event I was at and they approached me and ask why I quit. I explained and they told me they always use my self portrait as an example and that I shouldn't of quit. Lol I ended up with a degree in Geography and was a Planning and Zoning admin for awhile before I just couldn't do the stress at that particular job. The best part of that job is when I was able to design documents or flyers. I got to design magnets and stuff for advertising the Census there too. I really wish I could do back and change my choices.
I totally understand on the creative fullfilment point. I went to a trade school for my freshman and sophomore years of high school, to be a machinist. I absolutely loved it and excelled at almost every task put before me. By my sophomore year, I was exceeding most of the seniors capabilities and was getting job offers from major manufacturing companies, some with defense contracts for military aircraft. The problem is, in the real world almost everyone uses CNC today. You basically put a program in to a computer and push start. Theres nothing fullfilling about that, to me. I learned to hand draw blueprints and make projects on manually operated machines. It was 100% hands on in the manufacturing of a product and at the end of the day I could say that *I* made that. Not a computer.
Hard to withhold gratification for years. Most people take the small bag of candy early vs waiting for the mother load several years down the road. I completed 5 years college, 4 years medical school, 5 year residency in anesthesiology. Well worth all the years.
Block was a band kid back in the day?! I never would have guessed! It's great hearing a bit of your history. I did marching and concert band through HS playing trumpet.
Great story man, Im in exactly the same situation, just a couple chapters behind! I'm currently in a similar creative education and starting my minor in Film today. I have a degree in Mechanical Engineering and worked in that business for a while but it was just unfulfilling to my creative mind.
I assumed that this was already your full time job, so when I saw the title I was like "....again?" no hate tho, you are one of the biggest reasons why I am getting a harley
Hehe I remember your Lowrider was spoda keep miles off your Tacoma for work commutes.... 🤘👊 Good move man, keep on trucking er you know what I mean....😁
If your going to make us look through that mini-windshield, might want to Clean it! I did what you did, got college basics out of way, then went to teachers college! I loved teaching to bogged down with administration BS. So I started working in areas I love!
I'm a software engineer and JavaScript gives me the heebie-jeebies. I always feel like I need a shower :D I much prefer a proper, strongly typed language. But I've maintained my enjoyment of my career, so I've got that going for me at least.
I can't quit 😔 I unexpectedly bought a new orange street bob 114 yesterday 🤪 traded in my 20 ninja 400. Now I have to learn to tame the beast. As much as I love how this thing tries to throw me off the seat with all the torque, need to get a new seat soon. 5'7 160 lbs.
The quote was more relevant when wages got you further in life than they do today. Doing what you love often doesn't buy a house, afford a family, put food on the table, etc. Don't mind my jaded ass though. I'm in the West Coast of Canada where you need to make over 6 figures to buy a 2 bedroom apartment.
Love this video. My 10 year old grandson is you. He’s extremely creative. Loves Lego, Diamond point art, designing his own creations. I would love to pick your brain as to how I could help guide him.
Made up for you bro! Off topic mate, if you had to choose between the soft tail or dyna low rider s what would you say? Obviously you have the softtail but also had the dyna. There strangely isn’t much in difference in price here in the UK. Keep up the good work man
I love how early in the vieo "Man these artists would do whatever they wanted, didn't adhere to the guidelines I put out!" Later: "Man, these corporations put so many restrictions on the design, and I felt a bit too constrained!" LOL. Nothing but love Blockhead, but just thought it was funny.
This is awesome and the commitment have is inspiring! Hope to see some of your art soon! Question: when group riding like this, to keep with the ebb and flow of the pack how do you control your speed? Engine breaking and coasting or just light on the front brake?
Kinda felt like you had quit your job for a while. Hadn't really mentioned it in a bit. And if I remember right, you originally bought the low rider to help with the commute but it seemed to take a different route from a commuter to a power performer. I know others have mentioned it but it would be nice if this meant a face reveal but do what you gotta do
Talk about long winded, the just of the story is blockhead story is that of many a millennial. Went to school didn't like it dropped out, aka "soul searching." I knew a guy with a Parker Bows tat on his arm. Parker went under shortly after. For me branding isn’t the best idea. But you do you. I just worry about what that brand could represent in the future.

Us: waiting on Josh’s next vid like 🤤
Look at all these people quitting, that's not good....,
nobody likes a quitter 😂!!
Wow my favorite 3... Josh won't quit the dirty shame
Definitely don’t see shadetree quiting.
Josh: Sorry but I gotta go mop up pee from the men’s room floor.
Naw he’s too independent for that.

LMAO
Would be amazing!
…somehow get them and #CarTrek to intersect in Winslow, AZ!!!
If that shit don't happen I'll be bummed.
It’s been out out there. Now people expect it.
