What a brilliant facility, I love cycling in the UK, but the roads are getting quite dangerous now, to have a dedicated place like that would be brilliant. Love your videos!
The roads used to be way safer in the UK than they are now. I honestly think the bike lanes around central London has made it even more dangerous as they’ve now crammed thousands of cyclists into really tight lanes in central London and it’s only made traffic congestion in London worse. But the danger in London and around the UK is way more safer than BKK. If the UK were to invest in such a facility such as the skylane here, it most definitely wouldn’t be free… I’m seriously thinking about getting a road bike whilst I’m out here :)
Definitely adding that to my to do list for the next trip. Nice time to be out riding at dusk. Hopefully this means BKK is embracing cycling more and more. Have seen a few cycle lanes over there but the guys using them take their lives in their hands because they are only segregated from the traffic by road line markings. I don't suppose you recall what gate number this was near?
They’re now starting to put bollards along the cycle paths - but I really can’t comment on how strong, and also with the amount of potholes around bkk I would stay away from cycling around the city. The skylane is really a safe solution for dedicated cyclist. The skylane runs on the outer perimeter of the airport, and so there unfortunately isn’t a dedicated gate that takes you there. The only way to access the facility is by car or taxi.
Well if I was there I could still have gotten that discount. Unfortunately I've not made it to Thailand yet. Though your videos are easy research for places in bkk to look forward to.
Awesome stuff! I’ve not seen any lockers at the facility so only take what you really need - cash, phone & passport. Wearing clothes that have zipped Pockets would be ideal.
If you go there alone, Taking the Airport rail link (at Phaya Tai station) is cheaper than taking a taxi. (If 2-3 people, it will be cheaper to take a taxi)
