This song, which has been used and abused far too much for advertising purposes, at least here in Italy, ought to be declared holy heritage of the human soul. For it has the immense power to touch some deep areas of our soul that can't just be described. As early as in my 22 years of age I used to weep a lot every time I would listen to this song - I am now nearly 40. It was just able to get me into touch with the deep abyss or void living within ourselves, of which, under normal circumstances, we are afraid. And still now, at my age, I feel tears flowing down my eyes each time I listen to it. Such a perfect, precious masterpiece. Thank you so much for posting. When Gladiator was in cinema in Australia I went to watch it with some friends. There was a lovely young Danish lady there all alone in the foyer. I asked her if she was waiting for anybody to see the film with. She wasn't as she was backpacking alone around Australia. I invited her to join me so she could have some company during the movie as it didn't seem right for a lady to sit all alone with nobody for company. It was an emotional movie and it was wonderful to share it with another person. I dropped her off at the bus station afterwards and never saw her again. Strangely enough, I think about this moment I shared with a complete stranger so many years ago. Despite not even remembering her name, she has a permanent place in my memories. This song reminds me of a snapshot in time when I was a younger man, sharing a beautiful moment with a beautiful woman who I would never see again.
And there a news that Ridley Scott and Joaquín Phoenix (Comodus) are going to create a New movie about Napoleon. Hope Hanz Zimmer's creates the BSO, can't wait for this to happen.

This is one of the best songs I have ever heard. Hans Zimmer and Lisa Gerard nailed it. I think Russel Crow hit the jackpot when he got the part of unforgettable character of General Maximus. He was never able to perform in any other movie like in this one. And not forgetting the brilliant performance by one of the best villans of all times - Joeqin Pheonix. He was amaxing in this movie.

When I was a kid, I'd draw scenes from people's everyday lives - women going shopping, teenage kids getting angry at their parents, meals, vacations... When I heard this song in Gladiator, it shook me so deeply that I drew people listening to a woman sing it at a music venue (cafe or whatever). I still remember that drawing and I'm glad I found the song so many years later.

I was 9 when I saw Gladiator. My eyes were glued to the Tv till the song ended. That night I kept wondering, If we'll too hover in the air like Maximus did when he was heading towards the 'Light.' xD I badgered my mom with so many friggin' questions. Definitely one of my favorite movies from that year.

This is one of the best songs I have ever heard. Hans Zimmer and Lisa Gerard nailed it. I think Russel Crow hit the jackpot when he got the part of unforgettable character of General Maximus. He was never able to perform in any other movie like in this one. And not forgetting the brilliant performance by one of the best villans of all times - Joeqin Pheonix. He was amaxing in this movie.

When I was a kid, I'd draw scenes from people's everyday lives - women going shopping, teenage kids getting angry at their parents, meals, vacations... When I heard this song in Gladiator, it shook me so deeply that I drew people listening to a woman sing it at a music venue (cafe or whatever). I still remember that drawing and I'm glad I found the song so many years later.
