I think Ding should seriously consider playing Ruy lopez-morphy defense or Marshal with black pieces like he did against Ian in tie breaks. The french defense yielded him a victory but it has constantly given him bad positions

I am a beginner in chess so please don't blast me for asking this question, but can someone tell me why development of pieces is so slow in the classical games, like even after move 20 some pieces of both sides are still undeveloped, whereas when I watch rapid or blitz everything develops so quickly?
The so called principles of chess are not absolute rules, what matters in the end is the positional advantage and that can be had in some positions without fast development.

French defense gives you a bad bishop
Cause they play at the different level then us. Between moves the try to analyse the whole game, playing multiple scenarios or games in their brain.
