Northeast Ohio weather forecast: Nasty rain on Friday

Your 6 p.m. Northeast Ohio weather forecast for March 2, 2023: Today has been a seasonable yet quiet day as far as the weather forecast is concerned.
Tomorrow, however, is a much different story.
A fairly strong area of low pressure is making its crawl northward into the Ohio river valley region. Here's what we need to consider: location of the low as it tracks northward, temperatures at the surface, temperatures aloft, wind speed, and wind direction. All aspects of these conditions will play a part in which areas of our region receive more rain rather than a rain-snow mix and the possibility for sleet.
What is clear in the forecast, is the impact of how much rain will be received and how much this poses a threat for afternoon and evening commutes. We have to be mindful of where the low tracks and how much cold air will cling closer to the surface and the inflow of ambient conditions.
Once the low has passed, colder air will filter in behind and produce mainly snow in the overnight and morning hours for Saturday. High pressure returns to produce enjoyable sunshine for Saturday afternoon and even Sunday. A colder insurgence arrives in the long-term forecast...however, we will have more details on that as time passes.
