Two excellent guitar players - one extraordinary and the other almost his equal and capable of so much more than rhythm support. Bayliss can rip off some outstanding lead runs on that PRS while enjoying a fine cabernet in a crystal glass. And Jake - nobody can touch him - he's an encyclopedia of music and can play like his G & L is on fire. No bullshit jumping around and putting on a poseur show to demonstrate how hard he's working - instead he's all business like an open heart surgeon - killing it right from the jump. Keys - Joel is amazing and can play any genre.. And the perfect rhythm section: Stasik's solid bass that never misses or waivers, Kris' drumming of the snap-crackle-pop variety, and killer percussion from Andy. So much better the 2 drummers lineup, which can often be muddy and labored. Musical alchemists capable of switching gears faster then McQueen in Bullitt who, after years of playing together, communicate via telepathy. Nobody better than UM. I've never seen them have on off night. Like Roy Hobbs, the best there ever was, the best there ever will be.
They are a musical circus man. Been my favorite band for going on about 14 years. HUUGE influence on my own musical mind. Im looking to put a live project together to do what they do, as in no boundaries or limits to what we play. Run through every damn style of music in one set, hell in one song!
Fucking christ, the change at the 13:00 minute is without a doubt the most rocking, heaviest, fucking thing I've ever heard! And it has a Brandon solo too! Thank you Umphrey's, I'm in tears here watching this.
Umphreys will be recognized as one of the best jambands of all time in the years to come. They are such good performers and the UM light shows are so fucking good, better than any other band.

That you get it, and to what degree it moves your soul says more about you than them. I've tried preaching the UM gospel for going on 4 years now - most of my friends will have none of it. "It's too long.." "Where's the words?" I just want to pound my fist and tell them if you give them some attention and an open mind, they will reward you in spades. But it's a waste of breath.

Don't get me wrong phish is one of my favorite bands, but that's mostly nostalgia. UM continues to put out music decade after decade of different stuff.
