    Hi folks! Few have been asking about sizing so, for ref, I'm a Mr Average 5' 11"/182cm tall with a 32"/81cm inside leg and found the bike a really nice balance of being big enough to feel of substance but still confidence inspiring and stable at low speeds, and easy enough to paddle around. There were a few taller testers on the launch event who commented they felt a little scrunched up on it, so if you're much over 6ft and like the sound of the bike it might be also be worth trying the Scrambler 1200 for size, on the basis it has a similar vibe but will feel a bit taller and more roomy, especially for the XE version. Videos on both on the channel, links here...

    Scrambler 1200 XE: th-cam.com/video/ij8dxZdZ7V0/w-d-xo.html
    Hope that's helpful!

    LOVE it, looking hard at buying one! If it had 15 more horsepower and dual clocks I would be at the dealership right now!

    Having a Trident as my previous bike, I just couldn't buy a bike this expensive with the same dash. I understand why they needed to add the digital dash to add an IMU. And creating a new dash would cost a lot of money. Personally, I think they should have used the dash from the Scrambler XE. It's still fairly retro and looks more premium

    I've got a trident 660 and the dash fits with the price point of that bike.
    Fitting it to this significantly more expensive 1200rs feels cheap
    I don't think triumph will sell these, there now way too expensive

    As soon as I saw the launch of this bike I wanted one (twin clocks dropped ball aside) so I've been eagerly waiting on an actual road review. So it's great that my old mate Dan, who seems to mirror my riding experience (mid life crisis) and objectives so closely pops up with the first ride review I've seen.
    You've described exactly what I'm looking for in a bike, but being impatient (and prudent) I've already PXd my ZX4RR for an older Thruxton RS as I was really struggling with the ~£15k price tag once I'd added the heated grips and Thruxton-like single seat.
    I'm in love with the Thruxton RS but will still be very keen to see this Speed Twin RS in the metal. I dare not test ride one as I really can't afford to trade up a second time.
    Thanks for the informative review 👍

    The only thing that irritates people who buy modern classics more than a digital dash is an offset digital dash! What were Triumph thinking.

      Really ? I even didn't notice it. I guess that the tradi dash makes more sens on the T120. Everyone has different tastes : I find this last version of the Speed Twin georgous

      @CHuzz7777 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@pierrelederrey6636 Yeah, I guess everyone is different. If it was overall the right bike for me it wouldn’t totally stop me buying it but I would have to, whether via a cheap bracket or an expensive mod, move the clock to a central location!

    I`ve got a Mk2 in Orange and love it. Was mildly interested in the new one, until I saw what they have done with the styling. Blake 7 headlight, the tank lines don`t flow with the new side panels and why they dropped the twin clocks? Going to keep mine...

    As an older rider who loves modern classics, has recently passed their test and worked up from a speed 400 to a trident I feel that this bike is aimed at me. It was my goal to end up with a Speed 1200 but now with that trident clock I will be looking elsewhere ☹️

    T120 rider in Thailand. Good review and test😊. In 7 years I have upgraded much and it gets to go in all conditions, everywhere. Speed twin is nice but not an upgrade to my bike, for me. I do appreciate it is great for your personal preference 😊. I also subscribed.

    Fabulous review…a really good perspective of a bike to be used by the ordinary everyday rider! ( with of course a nod to your obvious experience and competence in actually reviewing an assortment of bikes! 😉👍)…..dare I say, with what you appear to be looking for, then perhaps consider looking at the Honda CB1100RS which was dropped from the range in 2021…it has fab reviews and although lacking in more modern tech is still a good looking and now affordable classic racer style bike…just my tuppence worth matey…keep up the good work 👍😎

    Im suprised, you haven't mentioned even once the XSR900, which you liked a lot. I think it's still a competitor, despite the fact it's more on the modern side of the "retrometer"...

  • @DimaGT
    @DimaGT 14 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    SInce you tested XSR900...
    With your cash would you get this or XSR900? I am inclined with Yamaha more given price gap.

    • @midlifecrisismotorcyclist
      @midlifecrisismotorcyclist  14 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@DimaGT I was going to weave the XSR into the comparisons but, on reflection, it’s less modern classic and more just a modern with a round headlight! Still an amazing bike, but not retro at all.

    • @christianburger25
      @christianburger25 14 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I recently got 24 XSR900 and absolutely love it. He is right. It's more of a modern bike with retro styling. I'm 6'3 and 235 lbs and would say the XSR fits me much better. You are leaned forward more, but I like that as it gives a more sporty feel. And as it leans you forward you are off your tailbone which helps with numb bum

  • @telemaster

    Enjoyed the review. Problem is, bolting nice bits onto a universal platform won’t bring the speedy up to the specialness of something like the outgoing Thruxton RS. Same price, so much less bike :/

  • @Tommy-Atkins
    @Tommy-Atkins 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

    I’m curious about the posts that state they wouldn’t buy it now because of the single offset clock!…if one likes the look and feel of the bike as a whole then aside from the minor tweaks, if I wanted twin clocks I’d buy the outgoing model!!..maybe tweak it myself with the cash saved! ..🤷‍♂️😉

    I'm in two camps about this. One hand, it has mini muscle bike vibes. On the other hand, is it just a Thruxton RS? Which I would argue, looked miles better. Also, personal opinion. The graphics and colours are terrible. I had a Thruxton RS, that thing oooozed class. These. A swing and a miss...It has just moved to far away from the orginal Speed Twin.

    • @midlifecrisismotorcyclist
      @midlifecrisismotorcyclist  14 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      I've not ridden a Thruxton so I'll defer to your experience there. Nor did we get to ride one of these with the optional clip-ons, which should in theory be close even if the Triumph guys were at pains to point out it's still not as extreme. I get the impression the official line is they need to protect the Thruxton's legacy on that score and this with the Cafe Racer pack is pretty much a new Thruxton in all but name. With you on the graphics as well, fine that they do them for those who dig the look but I wish there was a plain option as well for those that don't.

    Also, I've never seen anyone using the connected ride on a video. Everyone says it's rubbish and it's a pain/impossible to set up.
