I have a lot of high end boutique guitars (Tom Anderson, Gibson, PRS, Heritage, etc..), and the Music Man Luke 3 can hang with all of them. The feel, tone and playability is off the charts!

would you say the same with the luke 1 and 2 ? Those are a lil cheaper used and the III is too much for my wallet.

@@vincentdelmas2792 I'm way too late here but I have a Luke 2 and an liii 2020. They are both great, I got the 2 after the liii and I gravitate towards it a bit more. The neck takes getting used to though, it's even smaller on the 2's but it suits my playing. Can't go wrong with any of the Luke models!

love both, but the luke is more warmer, and more melodic specially on clean, the perfect 80s style machine! and for me I like more.

How hard is it to adjust between both guitars, since the JP has a wider nut, wider string spacing, flatter radius, and thin neck? Which one fatigues the fretting hand quicker?

    • @ACMusicland

Prof Z thanks for the reply. I've got bigger hands, so Luke felt more comfortable with the V shape neck profile. Felt like a little more to grab on to. Might be different for someone with smaller hands.

thx for your démo ! i would like to know your opinion bout the size of the guitar, looking for the smallest body possible but with " a real deal " guitar, not headless modern weird or kids guitar 3/4.

Hi, sorry for the late reply. Both of these guitars are on the smaller body size. Smaller than a Fender Stratocaster for sure. The necks are also on the smaller side as well.

Am a fan of BOTH Musicians as well as Music Man(s)! However, The LUKE 1 (Not shown) is imho actually the best sounding. In this comparison though I'm surprised I chose the LUKE 2. What can I say I'm an 80's child :)

You can find a detailed guide to doing it on the Music Man website:
Just scroll down to post called:
"How do I set up my Luke or Luke 3 with the floating tremolo?"
The short version is, two springs in the back, and 3-semitones up-pull on the g-string :)

I came across your video whilst looking for a comparison of an EBMM Luke vs PRS DGT as a potential 'Swiss Army knife' guitar to cover everything from Les Paul to Strat or Tele tones.
To me the Luke is able to carry off the more vintage LP-ish and Strat tones far better than the Petrucci. It has far more warmth in the lower mid-range, whereas the Petrucci's push is in the upper mid-range.
I guess it's horses for courses but the Luke is definitely more of a Swiss Army knife contender. I just wish that someone had done a DGT-vs-Luke comparison.

i just bought a used luke 3 and im returning it. the bottom e string is way lower than all the other strings but the string height is maxed out. ive tried everything but cant get the strings at the same height without the action being too low. so its a $1500 used guitar that is kind of a POS. im returning it this week. doesnt stay in tune very well either. looks nice tho....

Trango Fast That is not how the guitar is designed. Yours must just have a bad bridge saddle or it's not set up right. I have a Luke III and it's perfectly balanced for string height.

Reason these guitars cost 3 to 4 thosuand dollars is they are made in the USA. For musicians who are not pros or making money gigging, just get a import guitar. Remember EVH made his own guitar for like 300 dollars and became a world famous musician, rock n roll HoF and multimillionare w/o crazy expensive gear to start.

Each time I hear a Luke played I can't help but notice the unmistakable sound (tone) of Toto. Toto Rock, Toto Blues, Toto Jazz, Toto Fusion, Toto Metal... With the JP6 you can color the tone your way. I have a Music Man Reflex and an Axis Super Sport. Although the pickups are the same, tonally the guitars are different. Simply great sounding guitars. My next guitar will be a JP6.
You play very well and gave an excellent demo. Effects did nothing to hide the guitar's tone. Better to find this out now then after you drop $2K on a Toto only guitar.

    • @BernardoMattosBattifora
      @BernardoMattosBattifora 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Really? Most famous Toto albums were recorded with a Les Paul.. i think there must be something wrong with your ears. JP and L3 are both very high quality guitars, but the JP has cleaner highs doesn't mean the L3 isn't able to get a wide variety of tones..
