  • A magic week among the arctic fjords of Northern Norway (Skjervøy area). A liveaboard free diving trip with the purpose to swim with orcas (soft encounters as certified by USEA). We also had the chance to be in the water with humpback whales and a fin whale. Amazing experiences and orcas now fascinate me even more. Professionally hosted by Orca Norway, the pioneers who have developed Norwegian orca encounters since 1992. Filmed in November, 2023. Boat: M/S Sula

Дуже гарне відео, дякую ! Фантастичні краєвиди, дика природа, неймовірна краса ! Це було безпечно, адже косатки хижі тварини ?

Hi, yes, it is safe to be close to orcas. They are highly intelligent and sociable. There are no recorded orca attacks on any human anywhere in the world (in the wild). The company Orca Norway has very experienced guides who practice a method they call soft encounters which they also teach their guests: how to observe the orcas and their activities before deciding to get in the water, in order to not disturb them and increase chances of curious/interactive encounters. It was a beautiful experience.

Amazing! What did you use to film your underwater footage?

GoPro Hero Black 12 in underwater housing (same camera was also used above water)

This is DEFINITELY on my bucket list !!!! I heard it’s pretty expensive? I’m sure it’s more than worth it I’m just wondering so I know how long I have to save for !!! I’m ready right now !! Also, we’re you extremely cold in that ice water ?
Thanks for sharing your amazing experience!! 🐋 ❤ 🐋 ❤

Water temperature is about 5-7 degrees thanks to the gulf stream. They kit you up with warm undersuits for your dry suit. When you are in the water all is good. Sometimes sitting in the speed boat the wind chill can be tough but it is worth it :)
6-day liveaboard is about 65,000 NOK, then you need to add your travel to and from northern Norway. This is the booking site with prices. stromsholmen.trekksoft.com/en_GB/tours/list?referral=STROMSHOLMEN

How long was the train ride? I'm going out with USEA this November and am going to fly from Stockholm to Alta, but maybe I'll take the train if it's cheaper.

From Stockholm to Narvik is 18.5 h on the train, from 6 pm to 12:30 noon (night train). From Narvik it is 4 h bus to Tromsö - not sure how to get to Alta but check fylkestrafikk.no . For trains it is vy.se
I don't think the train will be cheaper but for sure a much nicer experience :)
