- The title says all - today I'll be talking about the Kaioken. This isn't a long discussion as you can tell by the video length, but that's just because the Kaioken is pretty simple and straightforward.
Also, one thing I didn't touch on in the video is its pronunciation and name meaning. Its most direct translation is "Fist of the King of Worlds," or "Kaio-sama Fist." In other words, it's a technique named after Kaio-sama/King Kai, with "fist" slapped onto the end for whatever reason.
The fact that it's named after Kaio-sama means it's pronounced KAI-o-ken, not KAY-o-ken, by the way.

The truth is adrenaline doesn't increase your durability and in fact make you more vulnerable and open.
Well adrenaline acts more like a natural drug, in the short term you feel unstoppable and your body is in overdrive but after it’s over your body feels like it’ll break at any moment and can’t do things properly. Though that’s an extreme example and won’t happen often, unless your trying to push a train with anvils in it
It's different. One can have an adrenaline burst without having any knowledge about ki control.

Nah there are plenty of key differences between the 8 Gates and the Kaioken
The main thing about the 8 Inner Gates that sets them apart from the Kaioken is that using the gates have unavoidable consequences no matter how good you are at using them, whereas with the Kaioken, if you're good enough at controlling your Ki, you can pretty much spam it without any repercussions

Eh, in a sense. But using the eight gates leaves unavoidable and will certainly kill you if you open all eight. Unless you're Naruto and can heal people. Kaioken can be used without consequences as long as it's used in VERY short bursts.
To be fair, I think using all 8 gates would be way more of a boost than the Kaio-Ken. The reason I say this, is because when Guy used it against Madara, he went from not being able to even touch him, to destroying him. Then again, Kaio-Ken can multiply it's user infinitely, so eventually it'd become more powerful, but still

I always figured it revolved around how honed your body is, especially since ki revolves around building up physical power.
The better trained, the less drawback is where my mind went. I could also be overthinking it. Still it's appreciated this video came up because I've had a curiosity behind the Kaio-Ken for the longest time.
The funny thing about it you would think that since kaiosama was technically a god that goku already had a very small sample of god ki. And also wouldn't that kind of make kaio-ken a god-fist almost like it's the fighting style of the gods and that would explain why super saiyan god is first seen as red...

I got to say I’ve seen many many you tubers try to explain how the Kyle Kmart so negative drawbacks and etc. but you are the only one who is ever truly gotten it perfect. Kaioken in real life is like flexing all your muscles and trying to move at the same time which can be very difficult to maintain for a while

Explain the 8 Inner Gates. There's a LOT of unknown stuff about it despite being used by multiple characters in the Naruto Universe, and how seemingly many people know about it. How's it even activated/learned? How can one open more gates? Can the 8th Gates effects be stopped by regenerative characters or be stopped if the Gate is closed early?

TheCatkingproduction As stated in Super's Manga, SSBlue is based on one's Stamina. As the fight goes on, your stamina is reduced, decreasing one's power.
God Ki is VERY VERY Compressed Normal Ki, SSB is just them combining their Mastered Super Saiyan Forms + God Ki which is why they are able to hold it.
god ki is very hrd to explain as they work differently in the manga and animé....in the manga the god ki is just a transformation and even ssg can be done, but the anime suggests that the ssg was more like a way to evolve, as his power was completely retained deep inside and his regular super saiyan form became just as strong, if not his base form itself.... and ssb is a transformation that allows oneself to use that power in its purity....

+Lin Yen Chin Well the faults in dbs are not to be blamed upon Akira. Akira has always remained the same- extremely f**king forgetful. If there is anyone to blame, its the fans. not the true ones, but the narrow minded dumbasse assholes made up their own bullshit interpretations of dbz and became popular, eventually poisoning Akira's mind. Thats exactly why the new show is childish (in terms of visuals, no blood etc) (western assholes made Akira believe that dbz was originally a kids show), and also why Akira thinks that dbz character base forms never got stronger after Namek saga. Further poisoning includes krillin being an absolute weakling and short and stupid etc, showing his current nature of getting easily frightened (by friezas soldiers) and also becoming over a whole foot shorter than he was.

klayten jensen but, he stated himself. The dbz anime counts as the series time line. So written by him or not he counts it as part of thr story. Alot of stuff from the anime has been counted as canon for a long time like bubbles n Gregory, u saw them in the movie bog and in super. He stated he thinks of the movies as events that happened in another dimension or timeline same with GT, if the creator says so then it is true. Look at how xenoverse 2 used what he said to make a fun story combining everything
I really wish I knew why he did Super Kaioken in the first place. It's not like he had to or anything, and iff it's just the same multiplier as regular kaioken, then he should have just gone SSJ2 since the power output would probably be the same. It was cool to see though so I cannot complain.

It's actually specified in the Freiza saga that Goku used the Kaioken without onlookers being shown (until King Kai saod other wise).
Goku when he combined SSJB with KK explained that it puts similar strain on his body to SSJB and his mot sure if his ready for the combination..

...then we jump to the buu saga, where Vegeta was supposed to NOT die again because he is still dead...where Goku mentions that if Vegeta loses to Buu, he will be erased from reality as he will die again.

Ηey I know that this video was released a long time ago but i have a question. Since Kaioken doubles someone's power level, Kaioken x2 doubles it as well or makes it 4 times greater?(2x2)

When goku uses kaioken he is x2 his power. Anytime he says "kaioken x2" in the dub is just wrong bc it wouldn't make sense. So essentially its "kaioken" "kaioken x3" "kaioken x4" "kaioken x10" and "kaioken 20". The multipliers also only affect his BASE power . The multipliers don't work exponentially.

That was filler. And no, Lonewolfstar Entertainment, the filler is determined by the author’s input into a story. Toriyama had nothing to do with that filler arc and didn’t write it, therefore it is not canon. At that point in time he had only been involved in the manga.

The reason I asked that is because they trained with King Kai and in the manga Piccolo when he's fighting Android 19 states that they have learned to increase their key dramatically at the point of attack. Is that not at least a type of Kaioken? Also which one doubles your strength regular Kaioken or Kaioken times 2?

Kaio Ken is the same technique as the genki dama except you absorb the energy internally. Which is why it's hard to control.
The genii dama is the external version you create into a dense ball of energy easier to control except it takes time for a beginner to build up that outside nature ki.

If Goku goes Kaioken x50, I think it would be equivalent to that of a fully powered Super Saiyan, since SSJ1 has x50 power multiplier.
But... At the cost of his own life. Since he hasn't mastered full Ki control, Goku would literally shred his own body if he goes Kaioken x50.

If you watched the debut of Kaio-Ken at the Vegeta Saga, You'll know this informations.
Izuku Midoriya Swagkage has said that the Kaioken has no limits to it's multiplier... Also, Toriyama never mentions anything about the limit. In the Kaioken's debut, Kaio-sama warns Goku that he shouldn't go beyond the Kaioken x2 because one has to have an *EXTREME* amount of ki control before Namek Saga came along in the DBZ series.

Okay man I know this is an older video but I really need your clarification on something. So base form Kaioken I always believed was to double your power, this would mean that there should be no such thing as a x2 Kaioken. If there is a x2 kaioken, then what is the power boost of Kaioken's base form? It obviously has to be lass than doubling your strength.

I would also add that the Kaioken is also limited by how much power the body can withstand, not just by the user's ki control. Ki control is definitely a factor, but even if the user has perfect ki control, there's only so much extra power the user's body can handle. The reason why Goku's Kaioken threshold increased from twofold to tenfold between his fight with Vegeta and his fight with Freeza had less to do with an increase in skill and more to do with a change in Goku's physical limitations. After being subjected to 100Gs and recovering from near-death about a half a dozen times, Goku's body became far stronger and more durable, which allowed him to better handle the strain of the Kaioken.

So I wouldn't say there are no repercussions to using kaioken.
I alwase guessed that Kiaoken gave the user greater access to their energy, as well as a strong adrenaline rush instantly, all of this stress on the body causing strain and muscle failure. Frankly I think my idea of it made more sense than the actually cannon explanation. Reason being it seems strange that someone could just double their energy with some technique, where does that extra energy come from? To me, being able to have a sudden flush of power from taking control of all the KI they have in their body in a single moment better explains how the move is used in the show.

Honestly I'm surprised Goku didn't use Kaioken with his super saiyan forms before Super. Imagine if he busted it out during the cell games or something. The ability to multiply your power as much as you want at the drop of a hat slapped on top of a form that already makes you 50 times stronger seems like it would come in handy when he was fighting Cell or Buu, or anyone really. Granted the Kaioken is very risky and most would probably avoid it because the super forms can also be pretty straining, but Goku definitely isn't the kind of guy that would think like that. I guess he must've been stricken with the same plot-induced sickness that kept Minato from using Sage Mode against Obito

Main difference between Kaioken and 8 gates, besides 8 gates being generally a much more extreme of a power multiplier, is that Kaioken makes you more powerful out of thin air, while 8 gates just utilizes the power you already have but your body naturally forbids you from using
For example if it wasn't for our pain receptors and multiple subconscious reasons to stop, you could easily rip your fingers out of your own hand as if they are mushy old carrots, your grip strength is just naturally that strong, problem is you'll rip your tendons and probably get a bone disjointed in the process
8 gates serves to shut down those subconscious stops to let you utilize your full potential at the cost of potentially damaging yourself, gate 8 in particular tells the body to stop "wasting" energy trying to keep your heart beating because you need that energy somewhere else
Kaioken on the other hand doesn't stop any body process it just spawns more ki out of an unknown infinite energy source, possibly your soul since people with a halo are known for having unlimited ki reserves, so theoretically if you knew how to do it you could abuse your soul's halo for power without having to die
Kaioken for this reason is a superior technique, firstly because after enough training you'll be able to use it no problem without ever hurting yourself while 8 gates will always hurt you, and secondly, even though at first glance 8 gates is a bigger multiplayer of power it has a limit, you can't unlock a 9th gate, after you open the 8th that's it, this is your absolute peak, but Kaioken since it's power from nowhere has no limits, if you wish for eternal youth to the dragon then dedicate yourself to learning to use the Kaioken, you could eventually reach Kaioken x100, x200, x500, etc etc, you'll eventually become so good at using kaioken that the super saiyan god forms will look pathetic compared to your x1.000.000 kaioken

I think the kaioken functions the same as the gates, it makes sense, basically overdrive to the body, otherwise why would gokus body be more prone to damage, the kaioken is just poorly explained, ssj3 is similar with how gokus forcing his ki to be in a way that overdrives and is unnatural, maybe ssj evolved the ki, but yea the kaioken is basically 8 gates, also just 20, the limit is kaioken x20 if im not mistaken, theres two possibilities, either A kaioken uses nature energy like Spirit bomb but you're just using the ki for yourself and not a ball, or you're using gates and forcing your body to somehow overdrive the adrenaline? It's poorly explained in the show, it very well could be infinite energy

If it wasnt for Super Saiyan giving a flat x50 without any negative consequences, Goku would've continued to improve kaioken indefinitely, he found a way to use it with along side Blue meaning once again he could focus on improving the multiplayer but as soon as it becomes useful again, Goku learned UI and made kaioken and Blue look obsolete in comparison
People gotta understand Kaioken is superior to all other techniques but only if you dedicate an infinite amount of time to constantly improve it, with a limited mortal lifespan you're better off trying to learn other techniques that give better up-front benefits without that many negatives
I consider UI, UE and Kaioken to all be on the same realm of potentially giving you access to infinite power, but kaioken is the one that hurts your body the most so no one is actively trying to improve it/learn it

Your body would feel like it was on fire. It would be agonizing to use the technique. It would be incredibly difficult to maintain a coherent thought while using it. Your attacks would be powerful and viciously fast, but your movements would lack grace and finesse. Now do it x20 and imagine your body is basically numb. You would need the focus of a holy monk to even stand.

How I understand, or understood it, is that you would direct your power inwards to strengthen yourself. Hence why loosing control of it would mess up your body because you would be essentially shooting your internals with a ki blast.
