I cried, I simply cried. Hans Matheson made me cry. If you notice there isn´t a lot of dialogue in the movie. Just stares that say more than words ever could, portraying emotions that will have you try to reach through the TV to stop things from happening. How could Lara not have seen Yura in the last scene. It´s not fair, life sucks, they belong together. To have so much love, all for what, to die alone? Tragic, simply tragic!
Then you have a beautiful heart. I used to read a lot and Russian literature particularly. Doctor zhivago is the most beautifully written book I ever read. I loved the David lean movie when I was young but now it would make me cry. As time passes great literature becomes like our Christmases the joy of childhood Christmas is added to by the sorrow of the people lost and times vanished. "Though nothing can bring back the time of splendour in the grass, of glory in the flower, We must rather find Strength in what remains behind." ~william wordsworth
I am not the type of guy who has much to say, but this movie is my all time favorite. Your pulled in, and can feel the struggles and passion's which are felt through out the movie. Sound track fits perfectly, moves me to tears at times each time I watch this beautiful story. Movie never received enough praise in my opinion, but none the less, will always be my hearts favorite movie.
I so love this movie. Caught half of it from PBS TV one time and got hook to it. I have to buy my own dvd tape. Can’t remember how many times I have watch it but still enjoy it every time I do.
thanks for uploading. I watched dr zhivago in one setting. My heart is so filled with sadness for the impossible love between Yuri and lara and also the sadness of those other partners. Sigh Hans matheson is so perfect and he's such a great actor. he deserves more attention really.
I watched this film as a child, and was absolutely fascinated with it. Sure, I didn't understand most of it, but the soundtrack, the story (at least the parts I could follow) and the amazing acting. I haven't seen it since around 2010, and I'm going to watch it again ASAP now that I've rediscovered it. Also after watching this video and looking up who composed the music for the film, I've worked out why I love This Is England's soundtrack so much.
@IAmKye I love the music in this Dr Zivago version. Keira Knightly at her loveliest. Look at a montage of her pictures over the years and see if you don’t agree. Her face says it all and I am not thinking of her physical beauty which is amazing. If you like this piece played here, which is taken from the bathtub scene, listen to a piece of music called spiegel im spiegel. There are also many versions on TH-cam. I have not listened to all of them, but writing has made me to thinking about how beautiful they are. I think I will have a listen myself. Be well 🥰
This movie is great! It reanacts the blights of Russia at the time very fully! Russia was completely in a dismay, but this love actually thrives instead of decease. Most beautiful love story I ever watched!
I have the book, just have yet to read it. Look forward too one day. Thanks for your support. Glad to see someone else who love's this story. It never get's old to me. Have a good day. Stephen, Ohio, U.S.A.
I'm not a big Keira Knightley fan but I love the book and the David Lean film is one of my favorite movies, so I'm very curious about this one. If I can find this anywhere I'll be sure to give it a look. Thanks for the video, you piqued my interest. :-D
The book is somewhat different, as are all books when compared to the movie counterparts, but still one of the most beautiful stories ever written. I STILL take it out and read it from time to time, believe it or not. You have a good day as well.
I cry so much every time I watch it. I feel so sorry for the tragedy of Zhivago - he reminds me of Ashley Wilkes (from Gone with the Wind so much) - they cannot find themselves in the new world turned upside down, they cannot adapt to it... The world they come from has poetry and beauty, and the new world is too "real" and weird for them, and they cannot give up their principles and adapt. It is a tragedy, coz there is no wright or wrong, it s just so damn sad.... But honestly, as for the love line, they both dont act like real men, they are way too soft and emotional....
Beautiful heart and soul provoking music. Emily it's been years but please don't forget me... I wish it could of been different but please don't forget me... Maybe in another life, X
It's a great video and a great series. Hans Matheson is such a brilliant actor and so unknown. So, hey, Hans, if you ever read this, go to the casting of The Riddler in the next Batman film, specially if Nolan directs it! That part must be yours!
Doctor Zhivago is a television serial. The serial was produced by the British company Granada Television, with co-funding from the American company WGBH Boston and the German company Evision. It stars Hans Matheson, Keira Knightley and Sam Neill, and was first broadcast on ITV in the United Kingdom on 24 November 2002. In the United States, it was first shown in November 2003, on Masterpiece Theatre
Although I want to, I still havent't watched this film but even if I didn't know anything about it, this video would definetly make me want to see it!*
Come on guys, no need to be so harsh. I will admit I have never seen the original so I can't compare but Knightley was only 17 when she played this part. In my opinion, she did very well for a girl that age. I am only 17 now and I know I could never do anything like that.
Yes, Omar Sharif never looked Russian at all, although most Americans did not realize it at the time, because most Americans did not know many Russians at the time. Other than that, though, I think he did a great job playing the role.
HM is like a chameleon. He looks wild with his long hair and beard, a stark comparison to his early smart appearance. A compassionate doctor, who loves Lara tenderly!!!
beautiful video, i haven't seen any version of this movie. but this video makes me want to see it. if it's possible could you post the movie or tell me where i can get it? thanks, and again great job.
Yes, I do. I think anybody with a heart feels sorry for Tonya. She really got a raw deal. I think the story is somewhat autobiographical of Boris Pasternak's own life, as he also was torn between his love for his wife and a mistress. As for him having an affair while his wife was pregnant, I guess it had something to do with her not being able to satisfy his sexual needs while she was pregnant, not that that's a justification.
omg that part made me cry sooo terribly :'( and the part wen yuri tried to get Lara's attention and he ended up having a heart attack and lara tells the boy to run as fast as he can :'( Can anyone tell me why Lara was being taken away?
Lara viene portata via dall' Nkvd la famigerata polizia Sovietica come nemica del popolo accusa molto in quel periodo rivoltoso..... Sono comunque d'accordo con te la storia è bellissima loro sono drammatici e teneri
reminds me of the time when I was only 12 years old watching on BBC in my cosy bedroom and everything was good to watch on the tele
I cried, I simply cried. Hans Matheson made me cry. If you notice there isn´t a lot of dialogue in the movie. Just stares that say more than words ever could, portraying emotions that will have you try to reach through the TV to stop things from happening.

Still the most moving, hauntingly beautiful song I’ve ever heard
Ludovico Einaudi s music is like that
Einaudi Is a genius
This soundtrack is so touching... my heart almost bursts into tears everytime I hear it ;)
Ludovico Einaudi s music is pure magic
Completamente de acuerdo contigo....Amor incondicional!!!
Probably the most influential show I've ever watched. The story has always been relate-able to me, and my heart aches
LoL
Same here....will always hurt
play of Hans Matheson ist just amazing!!
This piece captures so much...the tender moments, the parting, the sorrow those unforgettable moments which only the two lovers know of...
❤
The film was just beautiful and the novel is even more hearthbreaking...
So Beautiful. The Book, and both films
There was a reason i cried for an hour watching this movie. It's just so powerful, I am in love.
Then you have a beautiful heart.

I've watched the original at least 50 times. I haven't had the opportunity to view this version. It certainly is on my bucket list.
i could this rewatch a thousands of time. the only thing i won´t forgive is that he wasn´t together with tonja at the end .-. i felt so sorry for her.
beautiful film and such a touching composition, I love it!
Simplesmente maravilhoso magnífico !
This music is deeply moving, thanks for uploading.
i really liked this version. hans was amazing, as usual :)
Knightley and Matheson in my opinion are better couple for Dr.Zhiwago than Omar Sharif and.......❤😢

Сильная мелодия.
Россия проклятая богом страна.
the composer is Ludovico Einaudi, and this track is called Zhivago
Essa história é esplêndida e bela!
La secuencia final aunque diferente del libro y de la adaptación David Lean, fue simplemente demoledora.
Sergio Durán super
The best movie so far ? You obviously haven't seen the Sharif-Christie-Lean one.
Zoooo mooi...
Yes, Omar Sharif never looked Russian at all, although most Americans did not realize it at the time, because most Americans did not know many Russians at the time. Other than that, though, I think he did a great job playing the role.
