Awesome kimura escape. The gold nugget from this is the demonstration and explanation of connection. That is a huge piece that is not being taught to people. Great video!

This type of “simple” principles (in the sense that they are easy to follow and to implement) is what helps you to become untappable at your own level. And once you get the conviction that you are untappable (again, at your own level) your confidence grows and suddenly you have the peace of mind to be able to think calmly about your next 3 steps because you are not concerned about surviving (how can one tap that who is untappable, as they say in the far east…).
The direct consequence is that your overall strategy and your offense become better. Your partner’s offense also becomes better because they need to be more crisp to get you. And in this manner, everyone is safe and everyone progresses immensely.
Thanks so much for posting this, what a great lesson!

This is a mindset too and is a major milestone in BJJ. When you’re not worried about winning or losing your jiu jitsu seems to hit another level. It flows more and your energy expenditure goes way down. You learn to move around weight and strength and use connection and angles instead. I had a big guy (260 lb rodeo cowboy) pass my guard this morning and I was just super calm and waited for him to move. I knew I couldn’t escape by casting him off so I waited. Threatened the buggy choke and a wrist lock from the bottom just to make him move. When he moved I turned to my knees and came out to his back.
Jiu jitsu is fun when you make that transition. It goes from a fight to a roll.

Wow simplicity at it's finest. Sometimes we think too much in Jiu Jitsu. The connection concept is amazing. Make Jiu Jitsu work against them let them reach over committ then attack.

I will do this everytime now. I watched this video like Professor Jean-Jacques was about to levitate. The hand positioning is golden but the bottom side "glue" to your opponent I mind blowing. 🤯
