Excellent list!! -- my 3 sons (college and HS) have asked for many items listed!
Things I've done -- One year I gave each son a leather item - nice leather watch, nice leather belt or a wallet -- they loved those. And a few times I've given each one an 'excursion packet' - in it will have 3 things to do with dad or with a friend. Tickets, meal cards included. Our 21 yr daughter really love it too! As they get older they loved looking forward to events. I even try to think out of the box on this -- not just typical baseball tickets or whatever. I bought murder mystery dinner tickets for our daughter - camping trip for our son - a couple guitar lessons for another son and so on. Some were grand slams but all created great memories.

A “STEAM” gift card is great for kids who play games on their PC. They can buy and download almost any game directly to their computer. And a definite yes to a monitor designed for gaming.
You nailed it! 100% on everything, and a lot of it goes the same for girls teens too. I have an unusual add to your list...For my 14 year old nephew that loves to game, I got The Comfy, a big fleece lined plush hooded blanket poncho thing. I thought it was funny and more of a joke gift for him, but all 3 of my kids (13, 16 & 18) instantly grabbed it and begged “I want one too”! Who knew!!! Of course, we are in a cold, very cold, climate, but there you go.😊

LOL yes, so easy to buy the toys, but teen boys....My son was a skateboard and snowboard kid, so not too bad to guess on clothes and parts for his boards, ski lift passes etc. I switched it up on him and made treat boxes wrapped up real nice, movie tickets, a new department store cologne, skin products were also appreciated. Boys are terrible taking care of their skin, got to get them around 6th grade. Also a good travel mens bag. Lots more tech stuff now so that helps. I also got my kids new blankets. You have some really good ideas!!I got my son the Sephora cologne sampler, he loved it! No more annoying AXE spray! LOL
All are GREAT suggestions! Thanks!!!! I have 7 girls and 2 boys and the boys are sooooo hard! Like you said, the girls just like everything I do and anything girly or makeup related. The boys in our house are asking for Vans sneakers, Stance socks, gaming keyboard, drum set (ya right!), Flojo and Rainbow flip flops, Adidas sneakers and joggers, and cash. For all the drivers in the house, including the girls, I purchased an emergency kit from Costco to put in the trunk of their cars.

My son (21) loves Socks by Stance. My husband is hooked on them too. They come in every pattern imaginable, sports teams, etc. They're pretty funky looking if your kids like that sort of thing. This video and comments are great! It's going to make my shopping easier.

Great List Marnie! This year I’m doing smaller priced gifts and spending more on “Experience Gifts.” For example, my daughter’s birthday is a week before Christmas so we decided to send her to NY City with some friends and they will be singing at Carnegie Hall. An experience she’ll never forget!

First time to comment, but as a mother of an 18 year old freshman college student (Baylor!), this is awesome. He’s asked for stuff to “mod” his car (which will = cash), an Apple Watch, Birddog shorts, or Lululemon shorts. His birthday is also in December, so it’ll definitely be a combo of events to get some of those presents.:)

Having two teen boys myself (15 and 18) I agree with a lot of your ideas. Each year my boys want another fleece blanket to add to their collection.
Yes- cash! We also do “date nights” with our kids so we’ll buy tickets to sporting events and take them separately. Echo products, beats pill, headphones, and portable chargers. Pop sockets and phone cases are easy stocking stuffers.

Three boy mom over here! Great list! Agree with everything. We do stockings in our family and one thing they all like to get as former LEGO lovers are those little Nano Bloks sets. Just like they love a fuzzy robe, jammies, and blanket- they still like building something when it’s staring at them. Also, recommend those Apple AirPods. They can run and workout with them without them falling out. Also, when you’re trying to talk to them- they can just take one out and the music stops and only resumes when they pop it back in. Haha. Any fisher boys out there- Salty Crew makes some cute caps, tees, and hoodie jackets. Also warm ugg type slippers. Surfer boys- a cute changing towel or new wetsuit, booties. We are in Southern California so the boys here really like nice flip flops too. And of course, fun socks, like Stance. Sorry so long winded!

I think a great gift for sons or hubbys are phone charging cases. They cost about $100 for a good one, BUT, I have one, and it is DEF a worthwhole investment. Plus you can charge it during the same tme you charge your phone(all in one). It's so much better than lugging around those heavy battery pack chargers, and making sure that they have charge still left in them!!!!!!!!!

I think all your suggestions are on my son's (16) list! He has just started dating a girl and they often go out to fast food places and a movie - so I'm getting gift cards to their favorite spots. Also, my son has just discovered clothing (he wears a uniform) and so I'll probably pick out some things from Patagonia and Urban Outfitters and keep the receipt! Cash, sneakers, and airpods top his list.
This is a terrific list! I always find it interesting that their wants are the same no matter what part of the States you live in. My son is in college and I got him a couple Patagonia items. I get he and my husband tickets to a National Drag Racing event every year that is in July. They love it (and I get the place to myself!) Thanks again for all you do. Have a fabulous Thanksgiving.

My 18 yr old son is getting a new Hydroflask, XBox one system with 2 games, XBox live gift card to be able to play with his friends, gift card to his favorite fast food, black Vans sneakers, a Nike hoodie sweatshirt and tools. He is a mechanic at a dealership and wants to add to his set of work tools. Every year he also gets an Axe giftset. Other ideas are light up phone chargers for his car, car wash stuff or gc, floor mats, dash mat, Drone, slippers, he has a custom scooter that he would like new parts for (deck, wheels etc). my teenage son is heavy into drawing and art, so he's asked for art supplies. He also plays soccer and loves to work out so at home gym equipment and portable soccer nets are at the top of his list. I bought him a blender for his protein shakes. My pre-teen son (he'll be 11) Is really into robotics and STEM so he'll be getting gifts in those categories plus he's a big xbox fan, so a subscription to xbox live is on his wish list. they will also both be getting movie theater gift cards and gift cards to their favorite fast food places, so they can have a fun weekend out with their friends or a family day!

Another idea would be some apple gifts, maybe even mountain biking gifts, im a teen and I’m a mountain biker, if that’s their hobby, maybe get them some mtb related gifts or maybe even a custom Xbox one controller, you can design it specifically on Microsoft

I have young adult boys junior and senior in college doing internships and such. They wanted nice shirts specifically UNTUCKit’s. My youngest also asked for Patagonia. Food gifts cards to like chipotle is useful and what I’m telling relatives. My husband and I decided this year we are going to start giving them tools to get them out of dads! So probably tool box and some starter sets this year and will add on the next few holidays.
My son is a freshman and still wearing athletic clothes all the time so we’re all about UA and Nike. Xbox controllers and headsets! I just bought him a new fuzzy blanket for his bed. What he really wants is the latest iPhone but we have a rule that he can’t have a nicer phone than me!

My son is a huge gamer. He has a ps4 but primarily plays his XBOX one X.. there are yearly subscription plans for XBOX live gold, PS4 Plus..depending on the console he uses.. it gives them access to things and discounts on games. That would be a good gift if he doesnt already have it.

Wonderful list of ideas! My son and his friends play a game called Warhammer. It is a war strategy game. You buy models (like Space Marines) and you build the models (armies), then paint them. There is also terrain that you build and paint. There are many armies and lots of different rules and strategies to winning this game. They have starter sets with everything you need to start playing. You are playing in real time with real people in person. They have a tournament in Las Vegas. My son and his dad participated in it last year and with the exception of food poisoning had a great time. • How’s his mobility? Are there any aids/assists he needs?
• What’s he into? Does he like to read? Get a book! Does he like history? Get a documentary about something he’s interested in. He like tools? Look for something that’s an upgrade for something he has used to death or is outdated (I would say something he doesn’t have, but at 80... that’s a long shot).
• He need a new TV? Phone? Or, other electronic products?
• What about a keurig or something similar (if he’s alone)?
• Slippers and blankets for 80+ is always a good idea.
• Does he need socks or some other clothing item?
• ... when all else fails, ask! If he won’t disclose it and his wife is still alive, ask her what he needs!

Something to keep in mind - I was asking my teenage son and some of his thoughts...As far as brands, preferences tend to be what is "The" brand at their school or with their friends - so Patagonia, for example, isn't in for his high school friends. Big with his friends - hoodies (why wear a coat when it is 0 degrees out when you can wear a hoodie...ugh); joggers (nike, UA, adidas); something for their car - carwash pass, satellite radio, car detailing; an elite sports camp for the summer; a NBA/NFL or whatever game tickets; phone accessories - chargers, new case, etc.; sports gear; Restaurant/fast food gift cards; Sports store gift cards

Yes my 17 year old wears a hoodie no matter how cold never a coat. Patagonia is not the "in" thing for Indiana teenagers either. (Under Armour, Nike, American Eagle, Holister are the brands for our school)
Yes! My son is 18 (senior in HS) and loves his hoodies. He will wear his letterman jacket but usually a hoodie. He’s all about ANYTHING UA as far as brand. Clothes, shoes, backpacks. Definitely food gift cards. Those are HUGE hit.

I agree...cash is what my 17 year old wants. I have stopped giving him gift cards. When I give him a 50 dollar card, there is usually a small balance left on the card that never gets spent. The only exception is Spotify. Both my son and daughter like Spotify premium.

like the "tile" idea...saw on Fox and Friends a company called Milspin, veterans making baseball caps, metal plates, etc. maybe for older guys and husbands...bought all our guys caps with significant metal plates and helps veterans & first responders with PTS, just a thought as my guys aren't gamers anymore.

I asked my son who just turned 15...a watch (like fossil) thin wallet for front pocket carrying (not like an old man back pocket one like dad's), happy socks, bow tie, Hershal dopp kit, gift cards for Starbucks, movies and Visa, cord organizer for electronics, sneakers, tech touch gloves (it gets cold here) and yes, always more headphones and Patagonia Nano Puffer
