Five new original ghazals inspired by the iconic 20th-century love story of writers Amrita Pritam and Sahir Ludhianvi.

“There is a saying in India that if you want to express love, you resort to Urdu,” declares poet Ajay Sahaab, author of the emotive lyrics beautifully sung by Pratibha Singh Baghel on LAFZ BHEEGE HAIN (“words drenched in tears”).
Album consists of five songs, modern in sound and conception, yet following the traditional form of the ghazal: a poem with rhyming couplets in prescribed patterns, usually sung in Urdu, the “love language” par excellence of the subcontinent.
About the "Lafz Bheege Hain" Album of ghazals
The poet of these intensely emotional ghazals ,Ajay Sahaab is paying a humble poetic tribute to his most beloved writer duo ,Sahir Ludhianvi and Amrita Pritam in these ghazals .The excruciating pain of an unrequited love and it's subsequent ordeal ,has been vividly painted in these Ghazals .Sahir and Amrita both loved each other immensely but while Amrita was quite vocal about her obsession with Sahir, Sahir was quite reticent and tight lipped about his feelings. whatever he wanted to say ,he would say indicatively through his nazms and songs .it is said that Amrita was so engrossed and obsessed with Sahir's persona that the noted journalist Khushwant Singh once remarked " "Amrita can write her entire autobiography on a stamp ticket as it is only about one word Sahir " and Amrita actually named her Autobiography "Raseedi Ticket " In the first ghazal "Lafz bheege hain" , Ajay Sahaab narrates this particular incident beautifully
"Sirf tu hai ,teri hi baaten hain
Aur kya hai meri kahaani me ?
( There is only you and you in my story ,what else is there in my story ?).it is also said that Sahir would go to meet Amrita ,sit with her for hours without uttering a word,go on smoking and leave the half smoked cigarette pieces at her place ,which she would collect and smoke later to have a feel of Sahir ..such a divine attachment of these two literary legends finds a reference in one sher of the ghazal Lafz bheege hain as " kuchh na kah ke bhi kah diya sab kuchh,kitni baaten hain bezubaani me ( I uttered nothing yet said everything,this silence has a myriad words)
The very pain of this lachrymose story finds utterance in the Matla or the first sher of the ghazal as " lafz bheege hain mere pani me kitne aansu the is kahaani me ( so tearful was this story that all my words are drenched in tears ). the ghazal continues to refer to this story in metaphors and similes like when Amrita hears the saddest news of her life of Sahir's sudden demise on 25 October 1980 on phone and gets numb ' kho gaye saare humsafar apne ,tez Rau waqt ki rawaani me ( all my fellow travelers were lost in the fast flow of time).this utter helplessness of a loving heart,the conflict of dreams and reality and the fetters of compulsions all have been poetically narrated in this Ghazal.

Couldn’t decide which was my favourite aspect of this glorious project from Sufiscore. Loved all the elements but ultimately every one of them succinctly and elegantly support the music and message from poet Ajay Sahaab, composer Rajesh Singh and filmmaker Parasher Baruah.
Seamlessly shot and edited to never linger too long but just enough to convey the longing and quiet frustration of these two historical figures.
This is not a documentary but a beautifully crafted picture of all the arduous work that has gone into making this super sensitive masterpiece. The way all creators are narrating their views is simply awe inspiring and the way it has been edited is simply marvellous. Sufiscore is lucky to have such great artists who are simply the best in their respective fields . Its the evolution of the most iconoic ghazal which I rate as the finest ghazal I came across by far , heart rending words , very sensitive composition, painful voice , brilliant acting , soulful music and a great camera ❤❤ all told its a sheer delight to watch . The very first line lafz bheege hain makes my eyes flow everytime I listen to it .God bless you geniuses ❤
