Cast netting mullet is way more fun than I like to admit. Not sure about the jeans and boots for surf fishing, though. I think the fried mullet roe is ok, but cured and dried is really incredible. It’s just an ordeal to make.

I love mullet roe.... yellow or white. I have to say the white is best to me, but the yellow is darn good also.

I can't even imagine how many you would have had with a pancaked net! The true value in Mullet are the egg sacks. The Italians salt cure them and shave into dishes. Called botarga.

I eat white trout roe, but the popping is why my wife doesn’t like frying it up. She says it pops hot grease on her. Of course white trout roe isn’t near as thick.

I grew up eating bass and bluegill row right alongside the fillets. Mom cooked it in a cast iron skillet with butter and salt/pepper. Amazing cast net catch!

People tend to trash mullet as a food fish but they are delicious fried. I heard smoked mullet is good but never tried it. When I find big mullet like those I castnet and fry them.

You know i dont beach fish lol, but that looked like a pretty great day there. Cant go wrong with some mullet and grits! The white roe is better in my opinion, not a huge fan of the yellow

That was the biggest mullet I've seen and the biggest catch of them, good of you to release the excess.. Sometimes people kill to much, that was an awesome day of surf fishing.
