Success over here thanks to the video. Two notes: 1) sim card tray has to come out to release the mobo; and 2) I plugged in the charging port to test / phone said it was too cold. Temp sensor must be in the black pieces that go on last. Putting it all back together: 100% working. < $20 to fix the charging port. THANK YOU!!!

Same here. Thank you all for the pointer: at first I thought I had a defective part or did something wrong. As others have said, if you get all the black components back on, then it works correctly. Personally I'd recommend doing that step then plugging in just to verify for peace of mind.
      Great video and great comment!

Great tutorial, just replaced the port with this video guidance, although one point that you didn't show was the sd/sim card tray needed to be removed, thought it was just adhesive holding the m/board in but then realised the sim tray was preventing it coming out. thumbs up though for taking the effort to show everyone how it's done, very useful and have a working usb port again :)

Great video. The hardest bit is removing the back glass without cracking it, but after a few times doing it, you learn! I was pleasantly surprised that everything worked when I put it back together.

Great video! Like others have mentioned the sim card slot was forgotten, and I did freak out when I tested the port and my phone came up with a temperature error. Turns out it was just because the phone temp was low and sorted itself out once it was put back together. I didn't spend long enough heating the back and cracked the rear cover (I have a protective case so no biggy) but a good learning point if I do it again, and I'm sure I will one day. Thank you so much :)

I imagine anyone having this issue has done all the troubleshooting before either trying this or taking it to a shop for a $100 repair. A couple of months ago my port would not work. I did have some crud inside the port which I cleaned out but still not working. I tried the cache clearing but still nothing. I was going to do the save and factory reset but didn't get around to it and just used wireless charging. A few days ago I got the Sept security update and thought I would plug in the cord again and everything is now working fine. I think I had also gotten the Aug 1 update so I do not know if either of these two did the trick. I don't know if I had removed and reinstalled any apps for whatever reason and that could have been the problem. In hindsight, the factory reset may have worked and then I could have reinstalled apps one at a time to check for issues.

If you stop the video at 2.30 following the removal of the motherboard, you can see it lying between battery port and comera hole. It's a small black rod with two blue rings around it. your replacement part is not matching the original (ie different revision) - it might seem identical, but the small connectors are on different locations, and therefore lacking good connectivity
either find a matching part, or try to replace just the usb port itself with heat gun and flux but be VERY careful as the small components WILL fall off from the flex cable
(or you damaged the antenna cables but I doubt that)

My s9 plus when it reaches around 30 to 32 percent it charges the battery extremely weird.
So whenever the battery receives a CHARGE like whenever it goes up a percentage or two the charging then just STOPS! afterwards it would resume.
Then when it charge a few percentage more it STOPS once again then resumes.
