What made USA a super power is its military industrial complex. They export everything . With India's defence exports rising we are headed in same direction. From. Humble beginnings to largest exporter one day. 🇮🇳💪❤
That is not true at all. The military has rarely been a significant part of the US economy. The US became a super power and then global Hegemon because of over 9 million Km2 of untouched territory far away from the “waring” parties of Europe and Asia separated by two oceans. It has one of the largest river networks in the world and currently has relatively benign neighbors on its borders who aren’t trying to kill them. The US can at any time dismantle its military and allow the rest of the world to burn if it wants to do so, but it hasn’t since WW2.
ADA should use AI while designing the planes. Means any changes of LRUs or Components or Engines. Redesigning should be quicker. Then Blackmailing or Arm twisting by suppliers will reduce.
@manisherande4568 My intention is before designing, they must consider various type of engine options Or You make is so modular that swapping of engines is not much issues. Actually ADA wanted to develop Tejas on EJ 200. But IAF force to use GE 404. Now US is arm twisting. Suppose at this stage, GE delay GE 414 deal also, what will happen to our Tejas MK2, AMCA and TEDBF projects.
Imagine how many orders 20-30 billion dollars earmarked for MRFA could be of Tejas MK1A, MK2, and acceleration capital and more lines for AMCA. And Netra, which we need more of desperately. This decade would be lean as production ramps up but we'd come out of it far more self reliant, and with the joint venture on AMCA engines giving us full capacity there.
Tejas MK2 is only in prototype stage. They have enough engines to build 5 prototypes and testing. It will take another 5 - 8 years to build first jet. By that time local manufacturing of engine will be there. AMCA is not even in prototype stage. So no issues.
Buying Rafale seems the most logical option, but in hindsight it is the most risky endeavor for us right now, because we all know the backlog of orders Dassault already has. Therefore I believe we should go for 2-3 squadrons of Su-57 5th gen fighter jets, but with the latest engine config and a comprehensive weapons package with considerable amount of indigenization.
No one is even considering Russian equipment anymore, we are just trying to keep them happy for our legacy equipment. You don't see the Air force recommending Russian Jets nor are they happy with the current one.

BEL and DRDO can do that. Also please try for flat nozzle for indigenous fighters. One more step towards stealth.
IAF RFQ for 97 additional Tejas Mk1A is perplexing. By the time the initial 83 Mk1A order is fulfilled, Mk2 would be operationalized and in production. So why not divert the money for 97 Mk1A for an additional production line of Mk2?
