For those of you who want to play Marvel vs Capcom 2, I recommend getting the game for the original Xbox, PS2 and Dreamcast because the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions are no longer available for download. However, if you want to play the online version of the game, there is a downloadable emulator version of the game for your PC.
@John Rodriguez In the Japanese version of MvC2 for the Dreamcast, the game had online play and if the online server on the Japanese version of MvC2 still worked, then you don't need the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of MvC2. I do not recommend the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of MvC2 because they are not available for purchase and digital download anymore.
@@RosyTheRascal15 Yeah, but here is the catch: if the upcoming Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics game requires Capcom ID and QR codes and if the game will not keep track of how many times you win and lose online matches, then I will not buy the game in late 2024. Capcom shot themselves in the foot (Or should I say feet) back when they created Capcom ID and force-fed Capcom ID and QR codes down us Capcom fans' throats.
And soon...Marvel Vs. Capcom Vs. SNK Vs. Fuzzy Door Productions! For the first time, Capcom's crossover series goes all out, plus some funny stuff like: 1. Gwen Ling from American Dad kisses Mai from Fatal Fury after beating her up. 2. See Dominatrix Hayley Smith team up with Multiverse Meg against the Female Fighters team from King Of Fighters! 3. Not to mention Athena Asamiya (?) joins forces with Bertram (Wallace Shawn returns for this one), against Stewie and Brian Griffin. And many, many more! Plus new attacks and finishers like: Team Griffin's "K-Pop Go Home" style dance finisher, Tough Meg and Connie D'Amico's "Lesbian Kiss Shawskank" (defeat and kiss the loser) and lots more!
You must have done alot of; "rinse and repeat" to unlock all the characters on the Dreamcast version! It takes time if you didn't use your VUM down at the arcades on a Japanese Dreamcast and you unlock them all gradually on the console version! you have to have at least; 50000 pts before you start to unlock certain grouped characters at the select screen. To make'em all available eventually.
I did unlock everything legit for the PAL version of this game, but for this Japanese version, I have this: www.genkivideogames.com/capcom-taisen-fan-disk-capcom-dreamcast/6108086 It has save files for loads of Capcom games so you can port them over from the disc to the VMU and instantly have everything unlocked.
I agree, but the Japanese version of MvC2 is nuts in terms of unlockables, I'm not even sure if it's possible to legit do it anymore. The Japanese version has three types of points -D, N and V -you can only get N points by playing network battle mode, and you can only get V points by plugging your VMU into an arcade machine! They changed it for the American and PAL versions by only have one generic type of points that you can get just by playing the game on Dreamcast. So on my PAL version I unlocked everything normally. But when I played the Dreamcast version and found out about the point differences, I realised I was screwed. I'm just glad I had the fan disk already.

@John Rodriguez Ask Capcom.

Cheers, but part of the fun and leveling up is to unlock everything the hard way. Recently got my Japanese version. I'll be fine. thanks anyways!
