Love the great harmonies of Seals & Crofts. They were an American soft rock duo who had a lot of great songs in the 70's such as "Summer Breeze", "Diamond Girl", "Get Closer", "We May Never Pass This Way (Again)", "Hummingbird", I'll Play For You", "Castles In The Sand", "You're The Love" etc.

This song and "We May Never Pass This Way Again" remind me of long road trips in the 1969 Country Squire station wagon, when I was a kid.

I was born in 1970, this among others is some of the earliest music i can remember hearing. My mom always played the radio in the house and yes we had no AC so the summer breeze, which could be very hot in the mid-missouri summers, was all we had but it was simple and pure.

Perfect title for the season we've just moved into in this part of the world. A band whose music evokes those feeling of summer, cruising down the road with the top down, sun on your face, wind in your hair, stereo turned up. L.A.B & Six60 are the biggest bands in NZ right now because they've gone back to their roots, real musicians playing real instruments, real singers and they're bringing back that old skool music we grew up listening too. L.A.B - In The Air, Six60 - Up There, Sons Of Zion - Love On The Run ft Jackson Owens.

In 1972 these guys played at our all-night high school graduation party in eastern Ohio. Nobody knew who they were. They didn't have any hits on the chart yet. Soon after we became aware of them and were shocked when we remembered they had played at our party. Our graduate class numbered less than 250.

This is a beautiful song from 1972/73.
    The lyrics paint a picture.
I love the " Jasmine blowing in my mind "
This song was released at the same time that I connected songs on the Radio with something called a TOP 40 Chart.
This blew my 12 yr old mind.
Simon & Garfunkel would've been in awe of Seals & Crofts.

"Summer Breeze" was a big hit in 1972, which was a great year for music. But I must say, never in my life have I ever heard anyone associate Seals & Crofts with the Bee Gees. That's pretty much out of deep left field. But there is another duo that does sound pretty similar to Seals and Crofts. If memory serves, I believe one of them was related (cousins?) with one of the members of this other duo: England Dan and John Ford Coley. Look up their song "I'd Really Love to See You Tonight." For a long time, it was my favorite song. They had a few more solid hits as well. But nothing to ever top that first one.

Written about the West Texas Oilfield home of Jim Seals ( brother of Dan Seals of England Dan and John Ford Coley) in the little town of Rankin. Their Dad Wayland, and his Dad Fred before him, was a oilfield roughneck and part time musician who handed his passion for music down. Maybe it was something about the isolation and wide open spaces, but back in those days it was said you couldn't throw a rock out there in any direction without hitting a dozen ( insert instrument name here) players. By all accounts, Jim and Dan were crazy about their Dad... : )

Back in January '82 while on my Christmas break during my senior year of college I worked at a busy gas station in my hometown. Well, I don't remember the exact date but I know it was the same Sunday that the Bengals & Chargers played in the Freezer Bowl in the AFCCG and the Cowboys and Niners played in the NFCCG which came to be known as The Catch due to Dwight Clark making an overhead catch in the final seconds to send the Niners to the SB. Anyway, the chill factor in Cincinnati during the game was a "balmy" 55 below. I live in South Jersey and it wasn't much better in our area as the temps hovered around zero with howling winds which plummeted the windchill to "only" 42 below. I worked in it for nine long hours and then I had to go back outside for several more hours to help my dad fix an elderly couple's heater which had stopped working. Talk about a brutal day. I took a hot shower for at least thirty minutes to thaw out. I'm quite sure people who live in Minnesota and other similar Northern states have similar stories.

This was one of those rare tunes which was played on *MANY* different-genre radio stations. It could be on a rock 'n' roll station, an oldies station, a "nostalgia" station, a low-power local AM station, an easy-listening station... This song was played continuously from its debut in 1972 all the way up through the mid-1990s on many of the oldies stations.

Two more great songs by them are "Hummingbird"and"Diamond Girl" I remember suggesting these guys to you. At the same time I also suggested Crosby Stills Nash and Young, another group that harmonizes extremely well.
Now let's talk about Cold weather. I live in Wisconsin and don't drive, bike all year long. This morning it was -11 below zero on my way to work. This time of year 20 is considered a heat wave. I've been in -110 below zero (with the wind chill). I grew up in the deep south. One gets used to it, just gotta dress appropriately.

I love the smell of jasmine. I grew up in the 60's and 70's. I'm thinking jasmine must have been a popular hippie plant. I really don't know. Only that it seemed to be everywhere at the time. When I smell it today it takes me back to my childhood.
