Your issue with the accessibility of the magazine release has a simple solution: reverse it to “left hand” use and actuate it with your trigger finger as one does with an HK USP style paddle release. Additionally, the two metal plates at the 3 and 9 o’clock of the end of the handguard facilitate the mounting of picatinny rail sections in addition to the onboard telescoping rail at the 6 o’clock which can be extended by depressing the forward sling swivel and pulling it towards the muzzle. You’re generally a pretty good reviewer so it’s a bit disappointing you’ve decided to sound off on this gun without all the facts…
I appreciate your input and I comment. I will take it to heart and if I get the chance to shoot one again I will try it. Thank you for sharing this information. I admit I not perfect and will miss things from time to time.
@@thetexasgunvault what an excellent response, absolute chad role model tier youtube interaction. Society would be better if all of us were so civil. As a community, us firearm people should especially be kinder to each other.
@@thetexasgunvault first of all, awesome video, second I have a cx4 Storm and the only issue I had as you mentioned is the sights with ear muffs. I put a Primary Arms magnification red dot and it is awesome. My shots are on top of each other at 50 yards.
I've done the same thing. When I would change magazines I would I would put my left hand under the mag and use my thumb to hit the mag release and I would pull it out.
I have had the CX4 for about 17 years. It has never failed to function. It is easy to shoot and the ergonomics, despite what this reviewer says, are excellent. Maybe because I am way larger than you? It takes all types of 9mm. We run 147 gr for home defense.
I love our CX4 Storm. Been a great, reliable and fun rifle. I like it better than any of our other PCCs, including our Scorpion EVO. The Rak 9/Wasr M is a close second though. I will agree the sights are awful, but we added a red dot to resolve that, since we won't be shooting out to 500yds with this thing.
It’s 2023, you should have put a red dot on it which would have cleared up most of your “ergonomic” issues and helped out your wife’s shooting with her left eye dominance. You also could have switched it to a left handed firearm in about 5 minutes and she could have tried that. Foregrip wise, there’s a bracket available and rail wise, there’s one that fits on the side, that came with it, and one that slides out beneath the barrel that’s installed on every single one. Magazine wise, 92 mags work very reliably and are a godsend to the third of Americans in ban states that have to use pre bans to get more than 10 rounds in a magazine. Regarding the mag release, it is very recessed but using the middle finger on my right hand (wrapped around the grip) works for me. I love your reviews but this isn’t a bad gun, this is a bad review of a good gun.
Managed to pick one of these up for $550 out the door, with a primary arms dot that’s still cheaper then a scorpion pistol. I also appreciate the ambidextrous controls and the ability to change the ejection port is a major plus. There are plenty of options for rails and even one directly under the barrel you can pull out for a light or foregrip. The single pin takedown also makes it a option for backpack carry imo. Definitely a lot of potential in this firearm if you spend any amount of time changing the controls and training with it. I appreciate the video though.
I got mine in FDE for $400 out the door at my LGS. the other day. Got home and realized it was a 10 round mag version (thankfully I had a few 92 mags laying around and picked up a Beretta 30 round mag. Couldn't complain for that price but so much. Originally went to one store because I knew they had it in stock for $799, but they didn't have something else I was looking for so they told me to go across the street and check them out.. Glad I did that before making the purchase.
The thumb stock was not put there for import reasons....ALL CX4 sold in Europe either for police or military have this stock, even the full auto machine guns.....the thumb stock is there for durability same as the Dragunov sniper rifles.
Sierra Papa from Portland. They are the LTT of CX4's. Flat top conversions are something they do for those who don't like the "ears". They also do buttstock conversions.
He's in St Helens Oregon. West of Portland. I took mine down there for Brian to do the work on it. The wife and I got to hang out in the shop with him and bs for a few hours.
To eject magazine easier, switch the mag release to left handed use, use your right middle finger to press instead of your thumb. I shoot with this competitively, and this switch makes mag changes easy
Thanks for the video. The stock ergonomics don’t work well if you used a shotgun style cheek weld mount. A high mount red dot or microprism may work better for you. Mixup98 uses an inexpensive Bushnell red dot mounted directly to the rail above the grip and it works for him.
If the magazine release is reversible then put it on the right side then use your index finger. I also agree that they need to make a pistol version to import.
First you say you want a real sub gun one day... then you say you hate the manual of arms (mag change) on the Beretta carbine, THEN you say it's an artifact of using a single feed pistol mag... The overwhelming majority of submachine guns (and nearly ALL pre 86 transferables) require you to strip the mag with your off hand before retrieving a fresh mag - Stens, Sterlings, Macs, Uzis, MP5s, ect, - all the most combat proven designs work this way. If you don't like it, that's fine. It's your preference and opinion... but the CX4 is just emulating proven SMG design. Ergonomics are largely a square range problem, and don't normally impact real world effectiveness.
I have The CX4 Storm magazine release is an issue but I'm good to left hand drop it no worries. I just picked up a PX4 9mm with 12 magazines and shoulder holster $430.
I own one of these and have seriously considered cutting out the bottom portion of the stock. For some people, it may not be an issue, but for me, it certainly does hinder operation of the magazine release. The newer models also have a raised shelf around the safety which makes it more difficult to engage and disengage. It's very stiff, at least when new. I do not think they come from the factory with a threaded barrel, but they should.
In response to your gripe about using the sites, I think most people would agree that this is a gun that screams for an optic almost like it’s something you should ASSUME you’re going to add.. Think of these iron sites as something to practice with until you get the right optic
@@thetexasgunvault not that I’m defending a rifle that comes with iron sites that are universally considered garbage… I ordered my CX4 yesterday… so happy! Fine review! I have been wanting to buy one to go with my Tom cat and 92, but now I have to question it. As for aftermarket, there are attachments that allow you to put a light and hand grip on it, also a faux suppressor, that I know of
It appeared that your red dot sights are sitting low on the gun that it appeared to me that you really had to slump down awkwardly to sight the gun. Maybe if you could place or sights at a higher level it would have beeen more comfortable to sight and shoot?
I have one and I love everything about it except the trigger that has more travel than is comfortable, but you get used to it…Put a red dot on it and you may change your mind. But I really do think your bias….but I respect your take on it…!

I am glad they work out for you and you enjoy them. That is the most important thing.
It does have rails in can buy weave style they have one bottom and sides so do a grip and flash light they also sell extension for cheek and shoulder
If so, I think those should come in the box.
@@thetexasgunvault I believe at one time they did come with them but they have long stopped doing that.
You can now put an ar15 stock on them. Cost a bit, but you can absolutely do it.
That is good to know.
The Beretta CX4 Storm begs for optics. Mine wears a Holosun HE510C-GR and has yet to complain. That pairing makes for one heck of a home defense PCC.
I can see that perspective.
I cut my thumb hole out and epoxied the buttstock and pistol grip. Very happy with the result.
I bet that works really well
Yes it does and it looks awesome!😀 I would send a pic but can’t figure out how!
