Good teaching. Angels do minister to us, but Jesus by his Spirit does so much more, and we should focus on him. And, in any case, when angels do minister to us, they will have been sent by Jesus anyway.
I agree with this statement the most when it comes to angels, I’d like to add though I don’t even believe you’re supposed to pay any mind to angels in life whatsoever
What I appreciate about this response is not only Pastor Piper’s Biblical survey of angelic ministry throughout the Bible, but answers this question in a way that was pastoral. It’s not just affirming the possible presence and visitation of angels in our lives, but Piper pointing out that call to hospitality with Christ’s words in mind. He really delineated for me between a tendency to speculate about “an angelic host” during hospitality moments versus the actual call of obedience. Thank you Pastor Jay.
Well done. God’s interaction with man is the main focus of the Word, while everything else are secondary aspects in service to this main focus. Our relationship with God (or lack thereof), more than any other spiritual reality like the looming presence of angels and demons, is what makes the ordinary life extraordinary.
Without explicit biblical discourse on angels, we don't know if angels, good and bad, walk among us, but we know good angels serve God and His children, the saved ones.
Angels are ministering spirits set out into the world by God, now in this age to serve for the sake of Christians..... everywhere that Angels are active in the world doing whatever God assigns them to do..
For anyone interested, I made a video using the Scriptures to show fallen angels walk amongst us pretending to be humans just like the movie They Live. I believe there is a veil separating the spirtual realm with our physical world. That separation is caused by the restrainer who is restraining back the spiritual realm from us. Once the restrainer is moved out of the way, The Wicked will be revealed, ie the fallen angels and demons will be revealed and the time of the Great Tribulation will begin.
I had two experiences with suspected angels on public transit. 1) a dark skinned lady with an apparent mental illness was crying out for someone to help her get back to her hostel. At times she was scarcely aware of her surroundings, having zoned out and singing "Jesus was a sailor man and he wanted us to go sailing with him." When I volunteered to help her and sat beside her, it was several minutes before she paid attention to me. Out of the blue she suddenly focused all her attention on me and asked, "Do you know Jesus?" I said, "Yes, he saved my life several times." When I finished speaking, she zoned out again and began singing. She wouldn't get off the bus when we arrived at her stop. 2) I was sitting at the back of the bus and there was a middle aged Caucasian man, somewhat unbecoming, and speaking without an accent, who was attempting to engage a young Asian lady in conversation who was distracted with her phone. He was asking her, "What are these things that everyone is holding? Are those the smart phones? What do they tell you?" At that point I had to disembark.
I find it very difficult to believe that an angel would fake mental illness. I also find it pretty doubtful that an angel would ask what smart phones do.
@@jasonamor4785 My only concern is that others reading what you said might think that similar experiences they have had were angelic, and that they might go wrong in some way as a result.
@@maxaplin4204 First off, we can never know for sure. Regardless, we are to focus our attention on Christ, not on potential or apparent angelic encounters. I'm sure Piper means well, but that's a bit of a stretch to assume because Angels aren't mentioned in particular epistles that their roles have diminshed somehow or we shouldn't focus on them. The NT is explicit that there are angels that they do minister and aide believers. This can't be disputed. As far as the letters, what reason would these men of God have to talk about them in their letters? The letters are singular in focus. They seem to talk about specific things when being addressed to specific churches. That doesn't mean that the writers WEREN'T aware of angles or that they thought that angles shouldn't be discussed. It's a false equivalency.
To all Christians Jesus saying ["but the one who DOES the will of my father who is in heaven"] reveals you have to do something to enter heaven. That something is the will of the father. The will of the father is STOP SINNING. Stop sinning or you will be cast into Hell. If you have stopped continue to not sin.
Brother it is impossible for us to stop sinning. We are not saved by works. We are saved by Grace thru believing ALONE. I’m not talking or making excuses for wilful sinning. But the wilful sinner who repents is still saved over one who doesn’t repent. We need not do anything to sin but have a thought alone. The condition of our hearts are sinful.
I commend your zeal but caution you to understand something of real importance that the brother above me is saying. If salvation were through works no one could make the cut. Consider the thief on the cross - he was alread nailed when he confessed to Christ and accepted Him as savior. He never got to do a good work. We never got to see his redeemed Christian walk on this planet. He is the last man to accept Christ before our Lord died on the cross. A more clear way of understanding Christ is that *if* you have truly believed then you *will* change and fo good works and so forth. But no number of those works will in themselves contribute to your salvation. They may however lead to greater (unknown) rewards in heaven by your earthly service to our King. (the parable of the ten minas)
It is true that genuine, saving faith is always accompanied by good deeds. James tells us that faith without actions is dead (Jas 2:17, 26). And Jesus tells us to be perfect as our Father in heaven is perfect (Matt 5:48), which is a goal we should strive to get ever closer towards. But on the other hand, it is not reasonable to think that we will literally stop committing all sins this side of death or the Lord's return. In Jas 3:2 James says: 'For we all stumble in many ways.' Stumbling here refers to committing unpremeditated sins of short duration, and James is clear that this is something we will continue to do. So we should certainly strive for greater holiness and towards perfection. Those who are not doing this demonstrate clearly that they have no saving faith. But it is a big mistake to think that we will reach moral perfection before we die.
@@renlamomtsopoe The will of the Father INCLUDES to believe in the One he has sent, but it also includes acting rightly too. This shows that moral actions are in view in the reference to doing his Father's will. This, of course, doesn't mean that any Christian does the will of the Father perfectly.
"The Angel of the LORD," I just wanted to say, refers to Jesus Christ. This is why when Manoah and his wife saw The Angel of the Lord, they said, "Woe to us! For we have seen The Angel of the Lord!" Because even in Isaiah, he saw The King, but his unclean lips were atoned for by the hot burning coal, signifying Christ's atonement. The Angel of The LORD said, "fear not, make a burnt offering." The need of the burnt offering means that they saw God. When Daniel saw the Angel Gabriel, did he need to make a burnt offering for seeing it? No.

The Gospel: Plain and Simple “But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.” - 2 Corithians 11:3 Ask someone today if they are saved and you will most likely hear responses like these: “I have accepted Jesus into my heart.” Or “I have made him Lord of my life.” “I’ve been baptized.” “I said a prayer.” Sounds all good and churchy don’t it; but it is difficult to de- termine whether or not a person actually knows the gospel that saves them. These useless phrases don’t describe a thing about what the gospel is and has left a devastating effect of people not knowing what it is that they are saved from nor how they are saved; which leaves a more serious effect of people questioning their salvation. Let’s not muddy the simplicity of salvation that is in Christ with vague church sounding phrases that do not communicate anything. But rather present God’s word with clarity and assuredness. So here is the gospel: plain and simple. Sin was passed upon all men by one man Adam, and death is a consequence of this sin (Rom 5:12). Mankind has an eternal destiny of condemnation and wrath - Hell - because of this sin (Rom 6:23). No matter what good works one might do we are still found sinners in the sight of our Creator God. And all unrighteousness and those who follow get indignation and wrath. We cannot be found righteous for by God’s law we are found sinners (Rom 3:19-20). If we have broken even one law we are found guilty. It is for this reason of not being able to create our own righteousness and being born in a sinful flesh that we need a savior (Titus 3:5). Christ is that Savior, God manifested in the flesh, sinless, died in our place on a cross 2000 years ago. Taking upon him the wrath and judgement that was intended for us sinners. And it is through his bloodshed, burial, and resurrection on our behalf that we are able to have peace with God and forgiveness of our sins (1 Cor 15:1-4, Col 3:14). This good news is unto all but only those that believe in it are made righteous in Christ (Romans 3:22). It is then after we have heard this good news of Christ’s righteousness available to us freely, that we are sealed with the Holy Spirit and we are now part of Christ’s body the church (Eph 1:13) There is nothing that we need to do, no good works that are required, and no bad works that can separate us from our new position in Christ (Romans 8:35-39). Faith and belief in this information from God’s word is the gospel. The gospel is not accepting Jesus into your heart. The gospel is not making him lord of your life, it is not saying a prayer and it is not being baptized with water. So next time someone asks you if you are saved. Give them the clear assured answer “Yes! And let me tell you why!” Find more free resources at: www.graceambassadors.com

The Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, was only a messenger of Allah, and His word which He conveyed unto Mary, and a spirit from Him. So believe in Allah and His messengers, and say not "Three". Cease! (it is) better for you! Allah is only One God. Far is it removed from His transcendent majesty that he should have a son. His is all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth. And Allah is sufficient as Defender. Quran Nisa 171
You'll perish without Christ. Seek Him and live.

Say: "O people of the Book, let us come to a common understanding between us and between you; that we serve none except God, and that we do not set up anything with Him, and that none of us takes each other as patrons besides God." If they turn away, then say: "Bear witness that we have submitted." Quran 3/64
And those who believe in God and His messengers and do not make a distinction between any of them, We will give them their recompense. And God is Forgiving, Merciful.

The Gospel:
Plain and
Simple
“But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent
beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your
minds should be corrupted from the simplicity
that is in Christ.” - 2 Corithians 11:3
Ask someone today if they are saved and
you will most likely hear responses like these:
“I have accepted Jesus into my heart.” Or “I
have made him Lord of my life.” “I’ve been
baptized.” “I said a prayer.” Sounds all good
and churchy don’t it; but it is difficult to de-
termine whether or not a person actually
knows the gospel that saves them. These useless phrases don’t describe a thing about what
the gospel is and has left a devastating effect
of people not knowing what it is that they are
saved from nor how they are saved; which
leaves a more serious effect of people questioning their salvation.
Let’s not muddy the simplicity of salvation that is in Christ with vague church
sounding phrases that do not communicate
anything. But rather present God’s word with
clarity and assuredness. So here is the gospel:
plain and simple.
Sin was passed upon all men by one man
Adam, and death is a consequence of this sin
(Rom 5:12). Mankind has an eternal destiny of
condemnation and wrath - Hell - because of
this sin (Rom 6:23). No matter what good
works one might do we are still found sinners
in the sight of our Creator God. And all unrighteousness and those who follow get indignation and wrath. We cannot be found
righteous for by God’s law we are found sinners (Rom 3:19-20). If we have broken even
one law we are found guilty.
It is for this reason of not being able to
create our own righteousness and being born
in a sinful flesh that we need a savior (Titus
3:5). Christ is that Savior, God manifested in
the flesh, sinless, died in our place on a cross
2000 years ago. Taking upon him the wrath
and judgement that was intended for us sinners. And it is through his bloodshed, burial,
and resurrection on our behalf that we are
able to have peace with God and forgiveness
of our sins (1 Cor 15:1-4, Col 3:14). This good
news is unto all but only those that believe in
it are made righteous in Christ (Romans
3:22).
It is then after we have heard this good
news of Christ’s righteousness available to us freely, that we are sealed with the Holy Spirit
and we are now part of Christ’s body the
church (Eph 1:13)
There is nothing that we need to do, no
good works that are required, and no bad
works that can separate us from our new position in Christ (Romans 8:35-39).
Faith and belief in this information from
God’s word is the gospel.
The gospel is not accepting Jesus into your
heart. The gospel is not making him lord of
your life, it is not saying a prayer and it is not
being baptized with water.
So next time someone asks you if you are
saved. Give them the clear assured answer
“Yes! And let me tell you why!”
