My mother was always adamant that nobody could have any pie until Thanksgiving day. I changed that in my house. I always make pies on Wednesday and if you want a piece of pie on Wednesday, go for it. There’s so much food on Thanksgiving day that we’ve never ever run out of pie. happy Thanksgiving.
My Mamaw made this day old cornbread chicken and dressing almost exactly like yours. Sometimes (depending on who was coming or not) she would add sautéed mushrooms. My absolute favorite part of holiday meals. She has been gone for 2 years now and this year I will attempt to make this in her memory. Thank you! 🙏
I've always made cornbread dressing, what my mom did, but never added soup or chicken. Momma from the South, poor folks can't image spending the extra money for soup. It was always delicious.
I'm southern and no soup in our dressing, either. I can always taste it if someone has put it in there. My Mama taught me, and it's been made the same in our family for generations. She was famous for her dressing. She's been gone for 8 years, and now it's me holding up the tradition. I still baked it in a black speckled pan, just like she did.
You can lay a wooden spoon across your pot of potatoes while they boil. You can even boil on high, and the wooden spoon will stop them from boiling over
her is an egg hack.. I take the egg, on the rounded side, I take a back of a coffee spoon and tap the bottom you will here a lil crack sound but it won't be broken.. Then I boil the water for 10 minutes with the egg in there shut off the eye , cover and let it sit in the hot water for a good 10 min.. cracking the bottom makes it easier to peel and cook with out burning..
This recipe looks so good, just perfect! I never would of thought of cream of chicken but it probably was just the thing needed for extra moistness and flavor.
Just take your hot eggs and dunk them in ice cold water, they will peel without any trouble, the contrast between expand and contraction works every time. I like that recipe for mac and cheese
Tammy, An idea for adding paprika to your deviled eggs. I worked at Chick fil A and we served a chicken salad plate that had just a hard boiled egg with paprika on top of the yellow. We used the top of a milk jug like a funnel and sprinkled the paprika just on the yellows and not on the whites. Worked like a charm.
Tammy , I love you and your husband ! You are so real and down to earth ! You both are awesome cooks ! Your Mama taught you well ! Happy Thanksgiving !
Hey Tammy , where have you been ???? You do not put much out anymore.. Miss seeing you cooking good stuff . I'm especially missing you doing your Thanksgiving Dinner . That was the first Live that I saw, the first time that I actually watched and got hooked . I know that I can watch anything that you've done on you tube , but it's not like watching in Real Time .... Hope that you and your Family have a very Blessed holiday !!! Hope to see you soon "Live"!! Thanks for sharing !!!! 😊
I always put a can of cream of chicken in my dressing. Keeps it so moist and creamy. NO SAGE yours looks delicious. I always put 10 pieces of white bread toasted and crumble with corn bread.
Hi Tammy. Hope u & family have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Good idea putting extra foil around ur turkey. And turn breast down plus apple juice down under. Going to my daughters & family early Xmas Nov. 23 to 26th cause the roads can be dicey with snow & ice. It puts me in the holiday feeling. Thx for being u. ❤️🙏🏻
When boiling anything like potatoes, pasta , chicken. I rub the inside top of my pan with butter or oil . preventing it from boiling over , even with a lid on . Try this tip .
Have you ever boiled your eggs from cold in cold water? Add a tsp of baking soda to the water and use an ice pick to make a tiny hole in the end of the egg. The peel will fall off.
I understand where you are saying your mama’s dressing is the best but I disagree. My mom’s family recipe is the best to me. No cream of chicken soup. We are Slovak and Croatian. I learned a lot from my grandmothers and mom but I watch you because I love southern food as well. Just sharing my opinion.
I’m from the north so gre up on traditional sage dressing with white bread etc, sausage dressing or wild rice dressing. All are excellent. I don’t know anyone who likes cornbread stuffing, but I’m sure there are many. I stuff the bird and always have. I’m not dead yet and I’ve never killed anyone.
I post this every year, Tammy’s recipe is the best! It is almost identical to my Kentucky mother’s recipe. The eggs, bread cubes and milk all three keep it light and fluffy. Some southern cornbread dressings especially when cold are hard and brick like. Some may like it that way, but this is light and fluffy. DELICIOUS !
Kathie says…I sure hope and pray that your shingles are very short lived and not causing you too much pain…also I pray that they are gone before you know it with no side effects! Hi Tammy! I love this video! I do, however, have a question before i make the mac & cheese (which looks DREAMY by the way!). The recipe ingredients you use in the video are different from your cookbook recipe?? Im not sure which one to go by?? If you could help with this, I'd greatly appreciate it...want to take this to a party!! Thank you so much!!!
@kimberlindula7563 I was wondering the same thing, too! It looks bigger than a standard 9×13. Looks delicious!! I'm gonna give it a try for Christmas. My DIL made the dressing for Thanksgiving and used Jiffy cornbread mix. I couldn't even make myself try it. It looked dry, bland and clumpy. Tammy's looks very close to my great Granny's recipe (God rests her soul), so I'm curious to see how hers tastes!! ❤️ Merry Christmas to you and yours! 🎄
You Look beautiful Tammy! Thanks so much for sharing so early! I know it's a lot on you but I'm planning my menu, and this is the perfect time for your video. I plan on making several of your dishes. Thanks again and much love to you and your family!
My momma only used toasted bread no cornbread. I’m going to try your recipe this year. I would like to know what you cook ahead and what you save for the day of.
oh my gosh I have boiled over potatoes more than once by leaving the lid on the pot too! What a mess!😮 your recipes are always great! Thank you for the menu ideas!
I’ve been watching you on and off since 5:00am. You starve me to death watching you cook all these goodies. Your dressing is basically the same recipe I’ve used for years. I’ve never added the raw eggs but I will definitely try that this year. I prefer mashed potatoes. I like a few lil chunks of potatoes. I’m sure I’d love your green beans and I will try them. I make my mac and cheese with velveeta cheese. It’s my family’s favorite. For my deviled eggs I use slices of olives on top or nothing. The turkey wasn’t brown any more after you wrapped it all up & finished the baking. Your pecan pie is the best I’ve ever made. I will always use your recipe. I bought a pumpkin pie this year, too much to do in too little time. This was an amazing video. I hope you rerun it every year. Love ya! ❤❤
Tammy ,I love these long combined videos!!! I can watch a little while then come back and finish!!! love looking and remembering all your different houses!!! Everything always looks amazing.
I made an apple cobbler tonight in my biggest iron skillet. It was so good. My husband and myself both ate a big serving of it. He ate vanilla ice cream with his. When we finished, we let our boxer, Roxie eat the remaining food. Donnie had his on a paper plate, so we didn’t mind to let her eat the rest of it. Just got finished cleaning my iron skillet and drying it, so now I’m watching you cook now.
Oh yes I see where your going with this dressing and I make mine just like my mama did and its almost just like yours to the tee. Maybe just a tee different not much . 🤔
Hi Tammy, This was a very thoughtful collaboration of your best recipes caught on video over the last years. I enjoyed watching as you shared step by step instructions for each dish. Im sure this will be very helpful for the young cooks out there who are just learning how to make an entire Thanksgiving Dinner.... Desert included! Everything looks so Delicious & made with Great Care... Thank you for sharing your favorite recipes... I can't wait to try them all! 😊⚘️ Michele

I think the food we grow up eating is the best to us. But I’m open to new things to cook, and I don’t take it personal.
We don't put milk or cream of chicken in our cornbread dressing. I live in North Alabama. This dressing also looks good. 👍
Sometimes when I’m out of sour cream I’ll use a little bit of buttermilk. Delicious.I love creamy potatoes.

FYI - Ms. Tammy - Don't know where you get your butter from..but...Costco has a Butter Recall.
The butter recall from Costco has to do with a mistake made in the printing of the ingredients. The butter is perfectly good.
It was recalled because the label failed to say it could contain milk, if all things!
