Japanese to Engish translation is always problematic. Especially with gender pronouns. Many articles on Yuzu translated to English changed he to she, him to her back and forth constantly in just a few paragraphs.
Just turn off the commentary and enjoy the visuals, which are quite funny in places and very touching in others. It was Johnny Weir's last performance with this group. The commentary is a weird attempt to emphasize a controversy which will soon be forgotten.
I'm glad FAOI is over for Johnny. I don't think his over the top American lifestyle was a good influence for Yuzu. I do not want to see a man skating in a tutu unless it's comedy routine. Yuzu is, after all a Japanese gentleman in all respects and he lives his life by the rules of Japanese culture. I wouldn't have it any other way. The pop culture influences on his skating are my least favorite. I think it takes away from the charm and magic of his emotion connection to his skating and his soul connection to the fans. I realize that there is a certain segment of his fan base that likes this pop culture skating. And it is nice to see him play and have fun now and then. But his legacy is going to be the beautiful heartbreaking and soul touching masterpieces he has given us over the years. He belongs to Japan, to the people and to the culture and we are honored to be able to see his skating and how his life is unfolding.

Hanyu is a true friend. Inspirational source for him.
So many changes.😢❤🎉
One might add at this point that Yuzuru Hanyu's life is his very personal business and the public should not feel obligations to interfere with it.
Very moving farewell for Johnny and the skaters.
Translation nuances can be misunderstood or under nuanced.
Hope hebenjoys his retirement.
