My first visit to Open Studio. I'm in Florida now.
Adam, you are such a great teacher!! Most TH-camrs, post to show off or tease invitation to join a subscription. I know that you want people to sign up, but your teaching provdes real meat for those of us who may not be able to sign up right away, but are thristy for knowledge that translates into useful playing material and skills. Your approach is genuine and you are a natural teacher!! Thank you for videos like this one!!
You’re such a G! Thanks for everything, you’ve changed my musical journey
Keith Jarrett - Things ain’t what they used to be live at the Blue Note!!!!!!
Man, I couldn’t be happier about this session! I’ve been drooling over Keith’s intro of that recording for weeks but haven’t gotten around to figuring it out - now I know exactly what Keith is up to there!! :)
Thanks Adam!!

I am following you from Sicily, Italy !
Thank you so much for such quality lessons, even for free version, the value for beginner like me is just incredible. I wish I could pay for your extra content, but I just can't. But big thanks, sir
Thank you! Watching from beautiful hot sunny Singapore😊….Watching it after the fact but doesn’t change how good it is.. 👍
I had no idea Adam's live streams were available on YT, super excited to watch this.
Piano and I have a long history (Paris conservatoire 48 years ago, I was 6), but I gotta say since I started following Adam 2-3 years ago, things have changed drastically. I practice his drills daily, I enjoy doing it, and it's very, very beneficial. Hugely grateful.
This is brilliant and just what I need to learn!
This compliments the chord connectors video and also the Harmony Games wonderfully.
Thank you. So glad I discovered you and Open Studio.
Hi Adam . Love LOVE these practice sessions. I find ways to use lots of it on guitar and it really spices up my songwriting.
Lifelong learner from St Louis
Absolutely love it. Like to have such content as Open Studio courses.
Wow, this is great. I am seeing this after the fact. I want to know about when these sessions occur. I am at the lower level of professional but these nuances are fresh reminders and confidence builders letting me know I am on the right track.
I love these sessions, please keep doing them and thank you guys for all that you do
Every time I watch your videos I learn so much. It's just mind blowing. So Good!!!
Wow I just learnt so much from you Adam, thank you so much - you are a real pleasure to listen to, both in what you say and play and you are inspiring me as a teacher too 🎶❤🙏

Outstanding tutorial. Thank you. Can you mix C major pentatonic and C- pentatonic in key of C? Maybe play phrases of each at different times in the piece?

I notice in a bunch of videos (including this one) the 5 chord is treated differently. Eg in passing chords, they are inserted for all except 5. Here, it's all C pent EXCEPT for the 5 where i play G pent. What is it about the 5 that makes it a unique flower?

Thank you for everything you've taught me...but it's better not to put the mug on the keyboard!
Strong recommendation from Ron Carter, avoid notes below the "S" in Steinway? So what's that, somewhere around the F below middle C?
I believe this mainly applies if you’re playing with a bassist/guitarist because that range is where they live. Around F-G below middle C
@@RyJohnsonMusic Of course! Steinway builds that end of their pianos for a reason. And as the Maestro said, it's not a hard and fast rule. It's a guideline and it's part of being mindful of contributing to the whole, as a collaboration.
For the keyboardist, working that way is a restriction sure, yet it's also freeing. When someone else takes on that territory you suddenly don't need to be the entire band, not all the time. And as much as the solo pianist can do all of it, letting elements go let's you apply creativity elsewhere.

On guitar, Hendrix did a lot of these kinds of fills too. Of course he stole most of it from Curtis Mayfield.

Nice explanation, but you play sometimes so fast, the software that let you see the blue notes played can't even display it all you do.
Yes, I was going to comment on this also, but it’s not because he plays fast, it’s because the display is out of sync with the playing all the time. It shows the notes BEFORE he plays them, making the display very confusing as a tool to better interpret the positioning. The video feed was probably delayed.
