- Every aquarium should have aerated water. But not all aquarists know that there should be a check valve between the air compressor and the aquarium. Otherwise, water may return to the compressor and make a short circuit. This is especially true during a sudden power outage.

Take a styrofoam ball of the size you want and using the pvc pipe of your choice as a guide, cut a cylinder out of the ball, make sure the cylinder has a smaller diameter than the inside of the pvc pipe. you can discard the cylinder. then anchor or glue the top of the ball to a handle to help you turn it, make sure that the hole turns parallel to the handle. After that take some sandpaper and press the side with no grit against any part of the ball, now using that sand down the pvc so that it conforms to the curve of the sphere. Do this again with another pvc pipe. Then line up both pipes to the ends of the hole of the ball, and secure them such that the ball will rotate but the pipes will not. You may want to secure the ball such that it only moves how you want it
