This is probably my favorite (non-peated) blended whisky, especially for the price. I also consider it a great option to offer people who aren't really into whiskey - it's simple, mild in flavor and unlike most other cheap blends it doesn't pack a strong ethanol sting.
I just picked up a bottle of Naked Grouse and Naked Malt at my local liquor store so I got to compare them side by side. No significant difference between the two. Just an exceptional vatted malt. Always will have one on the shelf. Enjoying your reviews as a recent subscriber.
Naked Malt is owned by the Edrington Group so even though we don’t know what goes into the blend we can guess using the other brands owned by this company. It likely includes Macallan, Highland Park, Glenrothes and/or Auchentoshan
That makes sense, Joel. Thanks for sharing! And since I'm a fan of all those brands, it makes sense that Naked Malt would please my palette as well. Cheers!
I just got this. Sorry for the delay. At first I did not like it, but I added 3 drops of water, let it sit, and that really brings out the sherry influence. I am quite liking this. I am going to try a few drops of talisker. Cheers!
You highlighted the price point. Now , I visited a distillery today (Arbikie) they make rye whiskey. They tell us it's the first Rye whisky to be made in Scotland for 100 years. It's been in operation since 2014 and have 3 expressions. Right, here's the point . The cheapest bottle is £95 pounds then £125 and £250. I think I that's rather expensive . I got the usual explanation of set up costs and the like but I still cant get my head round these prices. As I dont drink I dont know how it tastes but the nose was nothing special. AM I WRONG in thinking it's expensive. How about a major key blues and a whisky to match. Cheers
Since I'm not a fan of rye whisky, most any price is too high for me. ;) The only reason for a £95 bottle of rye is for the novelty of "first in 100 years" and not because of value. But if you love the taste of rye and want a UK bottling, this is one of your few options. Thanks for the music suggestion. Cheers!
That’s a good price. 👍🏻 I’ll put water in some drams, but not all. Certain expressions open up better than others. I hope you enjoy it, cheers! P.S.: Good work on finishing a Dry January. It’s hard for me to do that and still run a whisky review channel. 😄
@@WhiskyRiffs Thanks for answering, recently I find a bottle of Naked Grouse, that is supposed to be discontinue from market, I was amazed to find one. And I have to say that is different. something is different in the new one. Thanks. I'll be watching.
Most of my habits aren't suitable for publication. But I tend to enjoy more "introspective" whiskies, and have the "untrospective" habit of finishing off a cask strength pour without following through on the plans to add a bit of water. So, I can't fault you for enjoying a low priced buzz from time to time. Enjoy.
Highland Park, Glenturret, Glenrothes and Macallan are the malts. The final composition was matured in first-fill and refill American and European oak casks, then finished in first-fill oloroso Sherry butts for a further six months.
I subscribed because of that guitar intro... Lovely review

Good point, Tal. I get more ethanol from grain whisky than malts, but that's another reason to like Naked Malt. Cheers!

It's blended with Highland 12 and Macallan 12
@@bsaw00There were rumors that someone messed up and used Macallan 25 in a batch of this (or maybe the Naked Grouse).
A great, budget friendly sherried Scotch. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks, I'm enjoying it much more than I thought I would. It's always fun when an expression exceeds exceptions. Cheers!
Good review Kevin .Cheers !
Thank you! Cheers!
That's a blended scotch I always have on my shelf
Among many others 😉
I think it'll be one that I'll have in my whisky cabinet now as well. Cheers!
Hi Kevin, thanks for sharing this video. A blended Malt is always a good option. I also prefer to drink my whisky neat. Cheers mate.
Neat drinkers, UNITE! 😂 Cheers!
Might give this one a try when it's time to get a new blend for mixing. Still got some of my Monkey Shoulder left, though.
If you enjoy Monkey Shoulder, Naked Malt is a good one to try. Cheers!
On my short list to try
I'd love to hear what you think when you do try it. Cheers!

It's actually one of my favorites! It's a good blended malt whisky... here in Oklahoma for $35.
Hi, Dean. Don't you love it when you can get delicious whisky for $35? This is a great, casual daily pour for me. Cheers!
@@WhiskyRiffs completely agree… such a good thing at a bargain price! 😊
I picked one up last weekend for $32. I'm looking forward to trying it after Dry January is over. I take my scotch with just a splash of water.

Hi there. Can you make a comparison between naked grouse and Naked Barrel?????
Good suggestion. I was wondering about that myself and will see what I can do about a comparison. Cheers!
Wow really!! thanks. 👍🍺🍹🍷🍸🍵☕

I appreciate your follow up comment. Thanks!
Planning to buy it next month. Need to cut back the drink lol.
I hear you. Sometimes I need a break from whisky… and sometimes my budget needs a break. ;)
Nice Stratocaster, I agree with you on comparing with Monkey Shoulder minus the sherry. OK for 29-30 $. Cheers
Thanks, Mark! I bought that 2016 Fender American Professional Stratocaster after suffering with a guitar that I didn't love for 25 years. Cheers!
Thanks for clearing up the name change subject. I find it delicious and inexpensive.
You're very welcome. Cheers!

😂 Well, now you're just being a tease, Joseph. Cheers!
Majority of the whisky comes from McCallan and Highland park.
Thanks, Corey! That's an interesting combination of malts. Cheers!

@@howardbecdove9780 those are some heavy-hitter distilleries. All producing delicious whiskies. Nice.
@@howardbecdove9780why do you think there's still Glenturret in the blend as Edrington Group sold Glenturret and acquired Glenrothes instead?
@@Michael-kn4oy I’m going by by the notes supplied by the importer to my region.
I can only get the 40% here, it’s good but would’ve preferred the 43% one
I've been seeing more 40% ABV expressions since I've been traveling (findingGinaMarie.com), but I do prefer the higher percentages too. Cheers!
@@WhiskyRiffs I live in Europe, and always envy the tasters who got some slighty few more percentages abv in their bottlings .
Great review, quite a descent malt😋
Thanks. This blend exceeded my expectations. What more can one ask? ;)
Word on the street is that this is made up of Macallan, Highland Park, and Glenrothes. I’m planning on picking this up soon. Cheers! 🥃
Thanks! Whatever the blend, it's a tasty Scotch that I'm happy to have as a nightly pour. Cheers!

enjoy your meal! Cheers!
Thanks, Erkan! Cheers!
Its good malt whiskey.... Tasted superby
I completely agree. Cheers!
Neat neat neat😀😍
That's my favorite way to enjoy whisky! ;)
WElcome to WICC club : no water, no ice, no cocktail and NO cigar (please !) ....
Hah! I didn't even know there was a club. ;) Cheers!
Whyte and Mackay with a little water blows naked malt out of the water for half the price. IMHO.
Whyte & Mackay isn't as available where I lived in San Francisco. Thanks for the comment!
Macallan
Highland Park
Thanks for the comment. Cheers!
