Right lane is travel lane. Other lanes to left of that are passing lanes

@@idk-kz2jg why would you sit in the middle? youve essentially turned it into a two lane highway, forcing people to go on the left lane to pass you. stay right unless passing. it goes right lane is slowest lane, and each lane to the left is passing.

@@IamMortui allow me to give some support to the mindset of left-lane-passing, middle-lane-cruising, right-lane-merging/exit:
I AM SPECIFICALLY TALKING ABOUT 3 LANE HIGHWAYS FOR THE ENTIRETY OF THIS COMMENT
ALSO THIS IS IN THE UNITED STATES
note for following example: i dont need to pass anyone or take any exits, i just want to stay on the same highway
      example:
-i stay in the RIGHTMOST lane
-i cruise on this highway that alternates between 3 lanes and 2 lanes
-when the 3 lane highway changes to 2 lanes ill have to change to the middle lane
-when it changes to 3 lanes i have to change to the rightmost lane
-there is 1 lane change for each switch between 2 and 3 lane highways.
      VERUS
-i stay in the MIDDLE lane
-i cruise on this highway that alternates between 3 lanes and 2 lanes
-when the 3 lane highway changes to 2 lanes, i wont need to change lanes since ill be in the right lane
-when it changes back to 3 lanes i still wont need to change lanes because ill be in the middle lane
-there are 0 lane changes for each switch between 2 and 3 lane highways.
just to add onto my argument,
staying in the MIDDLE lane on a 3 lane highway leads to these scenarios:
-if your exit is on the rightmost lane, you only need to make 1 lane change
-if your exit is on the leftmost lane, you only need 1 lane change
-if the majority of people stayed in the middle, it frees up the rightmost lane for people merging (making merging safer for them AND you)
-if the highway changes from 3 lane to 2 lane, you dont need to make any lane changes
staying in the RIGHTMOST lane on a 3 lane highway leads to these scenarios:
-if your exit is on the rightmost lane, no lane change needed
-if your exit is on the leftmost lane, you have to make 2 lane changes
-you have to watch out for people merging
-if the highway changes from 3 lane to 2 lane, you have to change to the middle lane
to sum things up, while in a 3 lane highway, staying in the middle lane is safer than staying in the rightmost lane because it results in less lane changes when you want to stay on the same highway, or when the highway lane count changes, or when you make an exit thats on the left or right.

wrong. This is not true. Keep to the right of the highway if you are not passing anyone. If you have to pass someone then you go around them in the left lane or the middle lane. You are never to drive in the left lanes while "cruising" this makes the highway more dangerous for everyone.

The middle lane is the passing lane for the people on the right lane the left lane is the passing lane for the middle lane and then traffic kinda makes a pattern if it keeps going and it keeps the traffic fast

    Connecticut law
C.G.S.A. 14-230 drive in the rightmost lane except while overtaking.
( exceptions include, helping people merge, from ramps, pedestrians, obstructions in the roadway, slower traffic, then return to the right most lane).
This kid is not sharing legal facts but rather the wishful feelings from his paranoid parental teacher that was not comfortable with his merging.
Rightmost lane except during passing as per Connecticut law since this is Connecticut this video was made in
but it's still the law in your state as well.

I dont know about your states laws so sure whatever you say on that but I do not see how that makes any kind of sense at all. the left most late is the passing lane the rest of the highway is just fine to drive on, if you are not able to go the speed limit or you are going the speed limit but flow of traffic is faster then you belong in the right lane, faster moving traffic in the middle and then passing on the left. by your logic when you hav e a highway with 6 lanes you are trying to say only the right lane is for driving then all the rest are for passing.....that would be ridiculous.

What if on a three lane there’s a merge in the middle, meaning you merge into the inside lane? Or the middle lane? And in this situation is the outside lane the fastest

@@WNicole1993 Why are you so mad that I said factually that faster cars belong in the left lane as that's the lane designed for passing? You must drive a Prius. A passing lane more often than not is a lane for vehicles who are GOING FASTER than the other vehicles to PASS them. Passing another vehicle would required them to be going at a higher speed than the vehicle being passed.
