It was the right call in every way. When GB tied it with a field goal Detroit started at their own 30 yard line. 6 seconds later with one throw to Jamo, the clock stopped, and they had moved 20 yards to the 50 yard line. You give Green Bay the ball back with 40 second on the clock they only need one throw and a step out of bounds, one throw and a spike to stop the clock, and they are in field goal range. Campbell was already 3/4 on 4th down. Give it to D-mo and end the game with a win.
Right. With touchbacks off of kickoffs starting at the 30 now and kickers having ranges of nearly 60 yards consistently, a team only needs like 55 yards to get into decent FG range. On the first or second play of the second half, Jordan Love picked that up on one play. He might not be the most accurate QB, but he has crazy quick strike ability. People don't understand that going it for 4th and short more aggressively was PART OF THE GAME PLAN for THIS game. It's not every 4th down in every game. People that have actually been watching know how it is.
Have not been watching because they have not been nearly as aggressive as the past. That game stands out amongst the rest of the season and it made sense to do it in that particular game when you consider health
Thank you, Rex.. Even after explaining the defense situation with the multiple IR and bringing in players the week or less of the Thursday Night game... Mr Teddy is either not listening or attempting to move the goalpost about last season or other games! Does Coach Dan Campbell fail at times, yes....but it is his Kahoonas that has the Lions in the winning position and standing they are now! As Rex indicated, the team knew the mission...Teddy acts like DC is making these sporadic decisions based on emotions. The team's defense performed admirably in the 1st half and while the 2nd half was not as successful. Dan ran with the strength for his chances of winning and that was the offense. The defense did their part and the offense brought home the prize. So until, the Lions get back some players (starters) back on the field from injuries, we might continue to see more (extra) aggressive measures! Detroit vs Everybody All Grit, No Quit
People are acting like it’s an impulsive play when they converted 80% of their fourth downs. I don’t agree with everyone of the decisions, but losing double digit starters on our defense does make me very nervous giving Jordan Love 40 seconds and just needing to get 30 yards. He told his team earlier in the week that he was going to be aggressive on offense and he was. Rex is making some decent points.
We've kicked way more FGS than last year and Campbell is the best coach in the league and had the vision to build the team this way and many other teams are trying to replicate it.
Rex and DC are very similar. Both passionate defensive guys who helped two franchises win. Glad that instead of questioning his motives, you just see it as being gusty and progressive coaching.
I still do not understand why people are upset about going for it on fourth down on their own 31. Based on the time left in the second half, a punt could have jeopardized their ability to have the ball at the end of the game-which was crucial to clinch the win. It was a gamble, but it was also a smart strategy to use the Packers' growing momentum against them to lose the time of possession stat. Give the opponent an advantageous position to score that will not waste time, and in return, it securely provides the Lions with the advantage of at least 2 more possessions before the 2-minute warning. It wasn't emotion, it was strategy.
The lions have been on another level the whole yr ,it took the whole season to give the lions credit ,they been a top team the last two yrs in nfc, the hate is reel ,nobody wants to play the lions this season in playoffs, the whole team is in kill mode
Rex is the only one that understood what Detroit was doing out of every other analyst ive heard about talk about this game... well done sir for explaining it to those who just don't get it.
I agree they don't have to go for it every time, but I think the analytics specifically for that game swung in favor of the Lions to go for it on basically every 4th and short. Why? #1 is the defense like Rex Ryan calls out, but #2, and the bigger reason to me, is that the Lions convert 4th downs more than anyone in the league. They convert 70% of the time going into that game and they converted 80% during that game. They had 17 points from drives they went for it on 4th down and possibly gave up 7 points from a failed conversion. So they were +10 points going for it on 4th down. I think statistically, for where the Lions are at, it made a lot of sense.
Bruschi didn’t do his homework. Relying on a defense that has only played together for 4 days, is insanity! Look at teddys face when Rex is stating his opinion, Teddy just hates it…and can’t stand it. Dude took too many shots to the head!
It’s pretty obvious that Rex has been watching the Lions and Teddy watched this game and the NFC game last year. MCDC hasn’t been going for it and Rex knew exactly why MCDC did this time.
How many coaches have won Super Bowls? Like 1% of all of them? Yet you have all these guys losing their minds about what you "should do". If you always do what you've always done you'll always get what you've always got. A huge part of what makes the Chiefs so special is what Andy Reid does. There are some really creative plays that he pulls out that work more often than not but he's given credit even when they don't because he's winning Super Bowls now. The Lions may not win a SB. It's really hard to do. If they lose it'll probably have nothing to do with a 4th Down play but if he wins, he'll suddenly be a genius.
And THIS is why I love Rex Ryan. He gets it where as so many "experts" don't. Stand on business my dude! This is who the Lions are and they aren't super bowl bound without Dan being his authentic self.
Teddy, the lions are going to play like the hunters, not the hunted. That’s their team personality. He’s gonna have those guys playing hungry every week. Wouldn’t work any other way
You alk say you've been watching DC all year but clearly you have not. Earlier in the year, when the defense was cooking, the offense wasn't going for it on 4th down all the time. In THIS game when the ENTIRE FRONT 7 save 1 one player wasn't even on the sideline 2 months ago HE BET IT ALL ON HIS OFFENSE AND IT WON THE GAME. You all clearly are NOT paying attention.
DC has barely gone for it on 4th this year. That was the only ultra aggressive game they’ve had all year, otherwise Jack fox and Jake Bates wouldn’t be having the career year that they are both having
Dan Campbell is a warrior a general a colonel he has no fear anything no body a 6 7 giant looks like he can get out there on the field right now and crack some heads open a great coach he has a intimidating look it was good call by him on that 4 and 1 and they made it won the game 💯👍
As a Lions fan I understand both sides. I definitely didn’t agree with going for it from our 30. But every other time we went for it was necessary for that specific game.
Exactly! All the idiots that think he is “gambling” ignore the fact that we have the best o-line in the league and an offensive cast thats near automatic. What casino in the world would allow players a win rate of 85%? Thats the Lions 4th down conversion rate. Who WOULDNT take those odds? Especially when the alternative is leaning on your defense that was already on 4th stringers who just arrived a day ago AND they lost BB and McNeill in the game.
If Dan had a healthy defense that game hes not going for it on his own 30 yd line. They had 18 players hurt on defense, and a Defensive line with only 1 starter, the rest were ruled out. You had 3 or 4 players called up from the practice squad that weren't even on a nfl team a week prior. Also GB only punted once in the second half. He wanted to win with his offensive.

I love the way they checked him over the Dan Campbell disrespect 🫡
Rex Ryan is cooking
Rex Ryan is just it man
Change your coaching style because you're winning now? What a bad take
People don't understand that going it for 4th and short more aggressively was PART OF THE GAME PLAN for THIS game. It's not every 4th down in every game. People that have actually been watching know how it is.
Have not been watching because they have not been nearly as aggressive as the past. That game stands out amongst the rest of the season and it made sense to do it in that particular game when you consider health
Dude was hatin on the lions
Detroit vs Everybody
All Grit, No Quit
@@fAnaticZpodcast dc is an offensive coach
I still do not understand why people are upset about going for it on fourth down on their own 31. Based on the time left in the second half, a punt could have jeopardized their ability to have the ball at the end of the game-which was crucial to clinch the win. It was a gamble, but it was also a smart strategy to use the Packers' growing momentum against them to lose the time of possession stat. Give the opponent an advantageous position to score that will not waste time, and in return, it securely provides the Lions with the advantage of at least 2 more possessions before the 2-minute warning. It wasn't emotion, it was strategy.
Dude just a hater. Dan Campbell is crushing it
This is the lions year.
🔥 Finally A Real Perspective Coming From A Actual Coach.👋🏾. Not Commentators Masquerading As Coaches.🏈🔥❤️🙏🏾✌🏾
So glad they all jumped at Ted for his take
Lmao 😂 fr
Spoken like a Bill Belichick disciple - not saying he's wrong or right, but I'm with Rex because MCDC knows how to get back up when it goes sideways.
Why is teddy yelling like that? Lmao
Rex gets it!
Love it Rex!!!
Lates face it....Dan Campbell is exciting to watch...Are you NOT entertained????
@@chrisdelfyett2644 They didn’t get 5 prime time games for no reason
Teddy Brewski must have drew the short straw. His take makes it obvious the he hadn’t been watching the Lions. He made that up.
And THIS is why I love Rex Ryan. He gets it where as so many "experts" don't. Stand on business my dude! This is who the Lions are and they aren't super bowl bound without Dan being his authentic self.
So many teams going on 4th down this week.
DC setting the trend...
Dan just coaches how everyone on madden plays
Teddy, the lions are going to play like the hunters, not the hunted. That’s their team personality. He’s gonna have those guys playing hungry every week. Wouldn’t work any other way
Teddy’s CTE is really showing.
You’d think everyone in this video outside of Rex was never involved in NFL football
It's astonishing how many people are lions fans in Michigan now that there good.
Lmao tedi why u so mad bro😅
Thank you for everything you said Rex! Detroit fans have known this for years. You play to WIN the game!
Gosh I love Rex Ryan. He actually gets it.
"There are no more kneecaps and ankles to bite."
You have no idea who and what we are.
“You’re on top start playing and coaching like it” how about we keep playing and coaching how got us on top?
Sorry Brewski….Dan knew if they didn’t get the 4th down that they didn’t we would get the ball back with a chance to keep it
Bruschi is always anti, anti sam darnold, anti dan campbell - funny how these guys are winners
someone tell teddy calm tf down😂😂
DC has barely gone for it on 4th this year. That was the only ultra aggressive game they’ve had all year, otherwise Jack fox and Jake Bates wouldn’t be having the career year that they are both having
Detroit vs Everybody! Love you Rex Ryan!
Dan Campbell is a warrior a general a colonel he has no fear anything no body a 6 7 giant looks like he can get out there on the field right now and crack some heads open a great coach he has a intimidating look it was good call by him on that 4 and 1 and they made it won the game 💯👍
Thank you COACH
As a Lions fan I understand both sides. I definitely didn’t agree with going for it from our 30. But every other time we went for it was necessary for that specific game.
Rex. Awsome.
He's a motivator, brilliant he doesn't have to explain himself now, even if he doesn win a super. He is winner in Detroit.
Bruschi is lying about watching the Lions all year otherwise he would know it's not everytime. Also, it's not a risk, it's a strategy.
Oh, and btw that one d-linemen had just left the game injured as well. Along with Brian Branch their star safety
