Fun fact about Indy shooting the sword guy in the market fight: originally it was supposed to be one big choreographed fight. However on the day for that take, most of the crew, including Harrison Ford, had dysentery. So Harrison walked up to Spielberg and was like, "Can't I just f***ing shoot him?" Spielberg loved the idea and the rest is history.
I am glad you watched this now and liked it... Because in season 7 of TBBT, Sheldon makes Amy watch it and Amy... has some comments that I won't spoil here, but it's fun watching Sheldon's brain melt!

The guy in the opening who was in South America with Indiana was played by Alfred Molina, who you might know from Spider-Man 2 as Doc Ock. This movie was his first performance, and the scene where he’s covered in tarantulas was his first day on set. Brutal!

17:32 In this part, Indy is supposed to whip the sword off the swordsman. Harrison Ford came down with food poisoning and couldn't do it, so he asked the director to shoot him instead

It was supposed to have been a gun fight. But when it came time to shoot the scene, Harrison Ford(and a lot of the cast and crew except for director Steven Spielberg) had food poisoning. How is that so the Indiana Jones The Raiders Of The Lost Ark came out in 1981. Indiana Jones And The Temple Of The Doom came out in in 1984 3 years later after the first one.
I watched this movie for the first time when I was around 10, and the scene where the Nazis opened the Ark scared the absolute CRAP out of me! The bit where Toht's face melted had me in tears for the last five minutes of the movie, and I never watched it again after that! If I ever watch this movie again, I'm following Indy's advice and keeping my eyes shut!
Harrison Ford preceded this with the first two Star Wars films, then followed up with Return of the Jedi. Other films starring Karen Allen include Animal House and The Sandlot. The actor playing Salah, John Rys Davies, had two starring roles in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. This was followed up with Temple of Doom, The Last Crusade, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and the upcoming Dial of Destiny
The Indiana Jones franchise takes place as follows: The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles: 1908-1926 Temple of Doom: 1935 Raiders of the Lost Ark: 1936 The Last Crusade: 1938 Kingdom of the Crystal Skull: 1957 Dial of Destiny: 1945/1969
After seeing you get PTSD from Lenard having an accidental discharge into his leg (you were in the army so I know you know what an accidental discharge is), I hope you went into this movie prepared and it didn't catch you off guard.
36:45 Only people specifically chosen by God can open and look into the Ark. Anyone else who does will die. That's why all that happened to the Nazis. It's in the Bible, in the Book of 1 Chronicles 13:9-10, while the David and his followers (they were on the run from King Saul at the time because he wanted to kill David who God said would be the next king) were transporting the Ark to a new location, only certain selected people were aloud to carry and touch the Ark. One of the oxen holding of the Ark slipped and someone instinctivly tried to catch the Ark. The second he touched it, he died. He just dropped dead. So yeah that's why the Nazis died when they opened the Ark: they defied God.

Fun fact: There's a submachine gun carried by several German soldiers in this movie called an MP40. In real life it was first built in 1940 (hence the name) but this movie is set in 1936. A small inaccuracy but an interesting one too
Actually, the cobras were just behind a glass window when they became face-to-face. However, one staff crew actually got bitten by one and died on the set.
24:45 Cody: And that’s a King Cobra. Me: Actually that’s a Monocle Cobra a member of the Elapedae family (Cobras) that is native to Northern Africa and Arabia.
Have never seen the movie in English, but it's interesting that the German is actually really good ... So why is it, that in modern movies and tv shows, if someone speaks German, it's always with a very heavy English accent and/or broken German? Why were they able to hire people who knew actual German back in the day, but now it's apparently impossible? >.
The German dialog was just as badly done for the original theatrical release and subsequent home video releases on VHS and even Laserdisc. However, all of the German dialog was re-dubbed with actual German voice actors in the early 2000s for the first DVD release in '03. So it's been much better ever since. It was easy to hide this since most of the spoken German is done either just off-screen, or with someone's head turned so you can't really see their mouth movements. While the main characters that play a German mostly speak English with maybe a word or two in German sprinkled in.

That scene where he shot the "Boss" guy he was supposed to have a big fight with him but Harrison Ford was tired so he shot him and they kept it in the final cut.
Ok so fun fact. The scene where he shoots the guy with the sword was actually improvised. Harrison Ford fell ill during this. They had a 3 day shoot planned for an amazing battle between them but Harrison Ford quite literally came up with the idea and told the director, "Do we really have to do this? Can't I just shoot this guy" And that's how they got a bit ahead of schedule and gave us all a very funny scene to laugh at!!
No one can see the Ten Commandments inside the Ark of the Covenant without God’s blessing, and survive. Jones and her were able to survive cause they didn’t look. Destroy it, are you crazy?!
29:08 I’m pretty sure that guy was a wrestler but I do know for a fact he was a stunt man and also did you know he was in the bar scene in the beginning he just wore a fake beard, it’s also common for him to play a character to die in nearly every movie except for the last two
It is true that Hitler had a fascination in the occult, tuetonic myth in particular, which he used in his loud-mouthed speeches👎😡(That's Norse and Germanic myth if you're wondering).
Nothing short of the serialized films that inspired it even comes close to how well done Indiana Jones is When you do see one they imitate or reference it. However there are some to shout out the good ones The Adventures of Tintin The Goonies DuckTales the Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles TV series (actually canon information) Parody UHF Cheese bit worth a look Dora and the lost city of gold Legends of the Hidden Temple The Adventures of Briscoe County, Jr. TV series sky captain and the world of tomorrow Didn't see National Tresure The DA Vichi Code Tomb Raider any film with a mummy in it new or old Romancing the Stone uncharted Allan Quatermain and the Lost City of Gold
Amazing movie, temple of doom is pretty good, last crusade is my personal favorite, kingdom of the crystal skull on its own it’s fine but compared to the original 3 not so much hopefully the new one is good because I think the new one is gonna be Harrison fords last time as Indiana Jones

I was 10 when this came out. If you can believe, I watched this opening night by myself! I was ok until snake coming out of the mouth of the skull and the end when their faces melted. My mom couldn’t get a sitter and had to work the theater that night doing surveys, so I got to watch movies. This is the only one I remember from that night.
It's not sand. It's ash in the Ark. The Ark contained except for the smashed tablets Aarons staff and a jar of manna. The relics burned on the ship to be kept away.
"reminds me of the mummy movie" well the mummy was inspired by this movie I think. considering it was made in 1992 I think, 12 years after Raiders.I wouldn't be surprised if it did get inspired by this. having fallen in love with this movie since I was fourteen I know everyhting about this movie. however I can tell you that Marian was abner Ravenwood daughter and that she and Indy were in love. This is a movie if you're not careful you'll miss things. and in the days before the internet if you missed or didn't understand things in the movie when you first saw it you were left dazed and or dazzled and or confused, and would have to see it again. That's the "trap " of these fast-moving Blockbusters.

Belloq: “It’s a radio for talking to God!”
God: “DON’T COME BACK TO THIS FREQUENCY EVER AGAIN-“
This is literally the most fun and enjoyable reaction channel I've found on TH-cam 👍
Wow, thank you!
That scene where he shot the "Boss" guy he was supposed to have a big fight with him but Harrison Ford was tired so he shot him and they kept it in the final cut.
18:50. Way in the back, on the left, there is one of the most famous movie goofs ever.
24:45 Sorry Cody but that's and Egyptian Cobra not a King Cobra, you can tell it by that 👁 looking symbol behind it's head.
Can't I just shoot this guy"
And that's how they got a bit ahead of schedule and gave us all a very funny scene to laugh at!!
The fact that I actually said “there are cats in Cairo” out loud just gets me
Thanks for the Gimli connection! I never noticed!
Nothing short of the serialized films that inspired it even comes close to how well done Indiana Jones is When you do see one they imitate or reference it.

That movie was not good. I played the games and they did horribly with the movie adaptation. But thank you
Amazing movie, temple of doom is pretty good, last crusade is my personal favorite, kingdom of the crystal skull on its own it’s fine but compared to the original 3 not so much hopefully the new one is good because I think the new one is gonna be Harrison fords last time as Indiana Jones
Hey Cody
100% thank u for getting into Indiana Joans!
Love all of them
Hope u react to them all my favouite is No 3 Last Crusade
Should warn you though.
Because you're reacting to Big Bang Theory. There is slight episode that may ruin Raiders of Lost Ark for u
And it Involves where Sheldon forces Amy to watch Raiders
So brace yourself for a shocker
I was 10 when this came out. If you can believe, I watched this opening night by myself! I was ok until snake coming out of the mouth of the skull and the end when their faces melted. My mom couldn’t get a sitter and had to work the theater that night doing surveys, so I got to watch movies. This is the only one I remember from that night.
Fun fact: the next Indiana jones movie is actually a prequel
The Mummy was made in 1999.
