I think its fascinating that all these historic discoveries have happened around the time that people became so fixated on physical evidence. People used to not have such a hard time believing the supernatural, but in a time where people want to prove everything (which isn't bad), God is allowing all this physical evidence to show up. Amazing.

@@sananselmospacescienceodys7308 2 reasons: 1) the bible says without faith it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6), and also that the proof of God's existence is obvious, but through unrighteousness people suppress the truth (Romans 1:18-20). Simply put, God doesn't need to show himself in a physical way. And 2) even if he did, many people wouldn't believe, or else if they did, it wouldn't bring them to repentance, and being genuinely sorry for their sin and desiring to live for God. They might submit out of fear, but that alone doesn't bring salvation. This is actually addressed in one of Jesus's teachings in Luke 16:19-21.

Just because New York exists, it doesn't mean Spider Man is real... Just because some places in the bible existed, it doesn't mean the events describes are accurate or true.

When I was in Kindergarten once every few weeks the school would hold a fire drill. The students were trained to line up and walk out to the playground in an orderly fashion. In other words we were trained to move away from danger. We weren’t told to remain in the classroom and wait for Superman to arrive and fly us to safety because Superman was make believe. Likewise we weren’t trained to remain in the school and pray for God to put out the flames. If we, and the firefighters, didn’t take action we'd surely die. There’d be no help from God. It was then that I concluded that God simply wasn’t real. Like Superman he was just make believe. This revelation seems so blatantly obvious that I can’t understand how anyone could not see it. If God was real what use would we have for first responders?

So either god exists, and he saved this one person and murdered 20 000 people, or he doesn’t exist and it was pure luck. Either way he’s not worth worshipping. Religion is socially acceptable insanity.

Yeah, sure. There were SIX high school students wandering around in a mall on a Saturday trying to convert random strangers. How is it that apologists have these weirdly topical encounters that allow them to look good and make a point?
Evangelicals are having a conniption because pastors are telling other people's experiences as their own, but apologists who've been making up stories for years just get a pass.

    • @hwd7
      @hwd7 2 ปีที่แล้ว

At least Ray Comfort records his divine encounters. When I used to actively do Way of the Master evangelism, I used to have similar things happen to me, so, coincidence isn't a kosher word, now that I no longer do any evangelism these 'coincidental' things stopped happening to me.
Lastly, George Meuller ran an orphanage in London solely based upon prayer to the Lord. In his Autobiography he documents many 'coincidences' in response to prayers to the Lord. Experience beats an argument every time.

Wait... aren't you doing the same thing as you accuse apologists of doing? Someone sent this video to me...
So Sean has no new arguments. He and his dad are two of the apologists I studied before I lost my faith. None of their arguments held up to scrutiny from a logical or historical perspective. I'm going to play the video, then pause for each major point to break down why I don't believe Sean (or the bible he makes apologetics for) any more. This is going to be long...
-Thousands of manuscripts: Any manuscript, THE manuscripts, are literally just hand-written copies of the copies the church decided to adopt as canon. There are millions of copies of Spiderman comics. That doesn't make them true, although their method of copying is exponentially more precise than the methods used by priests to copy scripture. The origins of Spiderman comics can also be traced back to their authors perfectly whereas the scriptures can't.
-Ignoring the Old Testament: The Gospels and the rest of the New Testament are contingent upon the OT being true for themselves to be true. It's a convenient exercise by modern Christians to ignore that Christianity is a sect of Judaism, because there is hardly any consistency between the beliefs of Orthodox Jews and Orthodox Christians, further inconsistency still between Orthodox Jews and modern Evangelical Christians.
-I have literally never heard anyone argue that "feelings matter more than truth". One of Carl Sagan's most quoted statements by atheists is "“Better the hard truth, I say, than the comforting fantasy.” One of Conservative America's favorite mouthpieces likes to say, "Facts don't care about your feelings" and it's one of the very few things he actually gets right.
-The book of Luke was named that, ~100 years after it was written, by Irenaeus when he assembled and named the four gospels. The book of Luke is written anonymously, as is Acts, and it was simply exegetical (traditionally interpreted) that Luke composed both books. The legend of Lilith is exegetical Hebrew mythology, but you don't believe it, do you?
-Luke 3:1 - Spiderman comics take place in modern New York, New York. The setting is contemporary to the time of the writing, the buildings, locations, music, everything is rooted in reality, but that doesn't make Spiderman real.
-Criterion of embarrassment: Two problems with this ideology are that the authors had no choice but to include the embarrassing portions of the story, and the other is the presupposition that the embarrassing parts actually WERE embarrassing to the author. There are plenty of parts of the stories omitted from scriptures, so it would not have been REQUIRED to include the embarrassing parts. There's no reason to believe that these parts lend any credibility to the "testimonies". Specifically, the women witnessing the empty tomb first would be completely expected, because women tended to the dead in that culture. Having men discover the empty tomb would be like a modern story saying that a group of lawyers made the pastries at the deli where Spiderman ate his lunch.
-The deaths of the Martyrs: No one is saying that the apostles knew they were lying. Pretty much everyone understands that they actually believed in it. There are plenty of people who have believed factually incorrect things, but they believed them nonetheless. How many Muslims have died for their prophet? Does that make Islam true?
-J Warner Wallace: If he doesn't solve a cold case, it just stays a "cold" case. Bragging about his hit rate isn't as impressive as Sean wants you to think it is. If you look at his work and his apologetics, he's wrong about a LOT of things. Sean's trust in J Warner Wallace is a good reason to not trust Sean.
-None of the books he says "historians basically trust" are considered to be entirely accurate. On Herodotus's life, Historian George Rawlinson said, "The data are so few - they rest upon such late and slight authority; they are so improbable or so contradictory, that to compile them into a biography is like building a house of cards, which the first breath of criticism will blow to the ground." Historians don't take ANY text as fact on it's own. The text would need multiple factors to pass investigation for it to be labeled as "truth".
-The conspiracy theory that Elvis faked his own death developed in well under 40 years. It's 100% false. The conspiracy theory that Donald Trump won the election developed before the election was even over. It's 100% false. Moon landing conspiracies started less than 10 years after we landed humans on the moon. They are 100% false. Temporal proximity to an event is not evidence that the event happened as told, but no one is even saying that the stories are 100% false.
-"More and Earlier Manuscript Evidence" - These manuscripts are all scripture, copies of the same scripture, mind you, so they only count as ONE source. Multiple copies of something doesn't make it more true.
-Caesar and Alexander - No one believes that Caesar was a god or that Alexander was the son of Zeus. We have a ton of evidence for their EXISTENCE, but no evidence for most of what has been written about them being true.
-"Four biographies of Jesus": all from the same source, scripture, and they can't even agree with one another on the events or details of his life.
-24,000 manuscripts: Ultimate Spider-Man #1 sold over 631,900 copies. Since its creation in 1966, Spiderman comics have sold upwards of 12 million copies (that doesn't include the number of games, tv shows, cartoons, and movies about him). Those figures mean as much to the veracity of that comic as the number of manuscripts means to the veracity of the bible.
-"There's more evidence for the New Testament than any 10 other ancient books put together." doesn't mean anything. The New Testament exists. No one is disputing that. The problem is whether or not it's true, and it's been demonstrated to be false, contradictory, and mistaken.
-Look into the differences in the manuscripts. There are blatant modifications that ARE capable of creating differences of doctrine.
-New York exists, but that doesn't mean the claims of Spiderman comics are factual. There are sculptures of characters from Spiderman stories, there are fans all over the world, Sean being one of them evidently, but none of that lends credibility to the idea that Spiderman exists.
-And he ends the whole thing with emotional manipulation. I won't be influenced to make decisions by emotional manipulation any more. I learned that all of these sermons rely on manipulation of our emotions as much as anything else in order to get us to set aside our logic and reason, making it easier to believe. If you can't convince me to believe with evidence, if you have to resort to threats of Hell, threats of life-long discontent, or even promises of Heaven, then you haven't done a sufficient job to convince me of the truth of your message.

To a great extent I became a believer in Jesus because God said that He would prove His existence by telling the future and never being wrong ( Isaiah 41:21-23 with Deut. 18:20-22). I don't think any human could have guessed that all the listing of things here could all ever occur at the same time. Yet God said they would. Anyone interested in the truth around Jesus would do well to study the following and other links at this site. And , of course, read Jesus words:
      End Time Prophecies:
But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die.
Deuteronomy 18:[21122] And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the LORD hath not spoken?
[22] When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him."
      End Time Prophecies:
Matthew 24:33 Said Jesus: “…when ye shall see all these things (End time prophesies), know that it is near, even at the doors” What is the probability of all these things converging together at any point in history. Most are converging RIGHT NOW.
      1. Israel regathered from many countries - Ezekiel 36:24 - written 6th century B.C.
      2. And around the same time: Persia (Iran), Russia, Libya - allied and all enemies of Israel - Ezekiel 38:1-12 - about 570 B.C. Iran (Persia) has never been allied with Russia until recently.
      3. And at same time: Many will say they are “Messiah” - Matthew 24:5 - Written about 60 A.D. (Christ or “Christ Consciousness” or “God”). Currently proclaimed by many involved in the New Age (ie: Oprah Winfrey’s friends); India’s Gurus, Scientologists, Kabbala followers, Gnostics, etc. Never before the 1960’s has this happened in the West
4.And at same time: Jerusalem “a burdensome stone to all people” Zechariah 12:3 - written about 500 B.C.
How likely that someone could just guess which city among all cities in the world, would be most likely to concern all humans in the end times (because of weapons of mass destruction & radical Islam)? And how likely that it would occur at the same time that those prophesies listed above & below are also all happening simultaneously.
      5. And at the same time: Jesus’ Gospel to be preached to all nations Matthew 24:14. Via radio & Television, most people in the world today have heard of Jesus and His good news.
      6. And at the same time: Possibility of all “flesh” being destroyed Matthew 24:22. Until the 1940’s, weapons of mass destruction didn’t exist.
      7. And at the same time: “Great Earthquakes” in diverse places increasing like Matthew 24:7-8 “sorrows” = “birthpangs” in the Greek. We all know that birth-pangs grow in intensity as the time draws nearer. Mark 13:8, Luke 21:11.
Number of earthquakes worldwide with magnitude of 8.3 or greater by 10 year intervals (From the U.S. Geological Survey website):

      1981-1990 0
      1991-2000 1

Slightly revised figures for 10 year intervals show 2003 to, so far through 2012, a total of 8 earthquakes at magnitude of 8.3 or greater. The rest of the 10 year intervals are almost exactly as shown to our left, with 1902 through 1911 still a total of 4. No other 10 year interval had more than 3, just as on the intervals to our left.
Plus, consider another in Japan upgraded to 9.0 - March 2011. In 120 years there have been only 6 with magnitude of 8.8 or greater. Two of these have occurred just in the past 13 months Japan - 9.0 March, 11, 2011 & Chile 8.8 Feb. 27, 2010. Based on the prophesies, look for more great quakes to be occurring soon.
      8. And at the same time: “And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.” Matthew 24:12. Increasing terrorism, financial fraud, and lying politicians, worldwide, are causing many to be more fearful and distrusting of others.
9.And at the same time; “Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot…Even thus shall it be in the day when the son of man is revealed.” - Luke 17:28-30. The days of Lot were marked by widespread homosexuality - Genesis 19:4-8. Today, homosexuality is being promoted as an acceptable lifestyle in the West. This has not occurred in the west in the past 2000 years.
      10. And at the same time: Knowledge shall be increased & many shall run “to and fro” - Daniel 12:4
      11. Wars & Rumours of wars - Matthew 24:6 Rumors of civil war (usually termed "unrest" by the press) in Libya; Syria, Yemen, Bahrain, Jordan, & continuing in Iraq. Fighting in May 2011- Libyan vs. Tunisian troops, also in Sudan; Republic of Dagestan (against Russian fighters), Taliban against Afghanistan govt., CPI (Maoist) fighters against Govt. of India, clashes between border troops of Thailand & Cambodia, and Bolivia.
      Coming in the Future:
      1. Famines
      2. PESTILENCE (PLAGUE)

You better get born again. It's life and death, heaven and he'll. Saved or not.
It is very simple to be saved and takes only a minute to explain. Please let me show you how to get to Heaven from the Bible, God's Word...
Man is a Sinner in the Eyes of a Holy God.
Isaiah 53:6, “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.”Romans 3:19, “Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.”John 3:3, “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”Romans 3:10, “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one.”Romans 3:23, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
There is a Price For Our Sin―Burning in Hell Forever.
Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”Romans 5:12, “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.”2nd Thessalonians 1:8, “In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.”Revelation 20:15, "And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”Revelation 21:8, “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”
Jesus paid that price by dying on the cross and shedding His blood; Christ was buried and bodily rose again the third day!
Romans 5:8, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”1st Timothy 1:15, “This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.”1st Peter 1:18-19, “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ...”1st Corinthians 15:1-4, “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.” This is the Gospel.
By faith in Jesus Christ ALONE we are immediately saved.Galatians 3:26, “For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.”John 11:25, “Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.”John 6:28-29, “Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.”Ephesians 2:8-9, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”John 14:6, “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”John 6:40, “And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.”Mark 1:15, “And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.”Acts 26:18, “To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.”Romans 10:13, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”1st Corinthians 3:11, "For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.”Galatians 3:26, “For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.”
Salvation is NOT found in a religion or good works, but in a Person... The LORD JESUS CHRIST!
Simply BELIEVE the Gospel and You Are Saved!

I have no doubt we were created for a purpose, but who's purpose does life serve? The universe is vast and we can't tell a story and pass it around a room without it changing, so a couple generations is plenty of time to make the main character to be my uncle?
But that doesn't matter so much. That lead to different religions which also doesn't matter either.
"Forgive them Father, they know not what they do....."
Was that for His executioners only, or was it for us all?
It does not take a God to see that we live in a world where no one stands a chance at Godly forgiveness, including Christians.
God is our fall back. Our reason to enduring suffering. But who asked for any of this before there were planets and souls and people?
This was God's idea to begin with. He created it all, and he did it without any one's permission or request.
    Was He lonely?
Perhaps he feeds on love, although it is in short supply here. Why would He make this place to begin with? Christ is all we have to make up for six billion souls, all hoping for heavenly rest from a place that none of us chose. This was no accident, but we justify it with religions as we hope for something better. We "look on the bright side" because the other side is too horrible to look at.
    Reincarnation!.
God is real but his motives are his own, and always were. Why should we beg of him for a peace that we already had before we were ever born?

Today we have 1 God but we have dozens of different religions, including Atheism. These are all still the "search for truth" and we all do it.
Perhaps God is more impressed by a man's devotion to the search, than to the actual conclusions that we come to.

Also, a major difference between Christianity and all these other religions is that Christianity is the only faith that doesn't require some ritual or good actions to enter heaven. All we need to do is trust Christ as our savior.

Are there any exceptions, that will still get you past those pearly gates, while not being Christian?
Exceptions like babies / young children, or the mentally challenged perhaps? Children forced into other religions by their parents, people who are forbidden by law, to practice any religion....
      Life on other planets!
So that is free exemption for most all of the entire universe, while the "bad" Christians might end up in hell for their inability to truly believe.
People like me, who wish they could simply trust and believe their way in. God knows my heart, and He knows that I wish I was a Christian, but that I have no ability to believe that a human being named Jesus created the universe and all life everywhere.
I absolutely believe in creation. I believe life is everywhere throughout the entire universe. Not just here on the Earth.

So. to help you out. When there are four eye witnesses in court when they report a crime, they never give the exact details of their observations and the stories are not exactly the same (word for word). Usually good reports are not reports that are word by word account of each witness, but correlation of the 4 stories. So, the four stories have to have consistency. Mathew, Mark, Luke & John have a correlation of the Life of Christ. The report is provided and given in a personal account and observation. They did not have a meeting to come up with the same story. I think that is the greatest argument for Christ. Real observations without changing the story.

    • @daironman973nwk7

aarrizon I hear you but at the end of the day it’s all fictional stories. I don’t think your example quite fits exactly because one thing is 4 people observing a crime and giving 4 different accounts. Mark, Mathew,Luke, & John was never there to observe any of this for themselves, they claim they was but it’s just them asserting themselves in their own fictional story. This is more of one person telling a story like Mark, then 15yrs later (according to records) Mathew after reading Marks version rewrites the story but adds his own flavor to it. Then Luke comes along WHO NEVER EVEN KNEW JESUS according to records and does the same thing and so on....basically it’s folklore. It’s like a story of a haunted house where somebody tells u of a man who died and it’s said he appears with a pitchfork, then another person tells the story and they say he appears with a sword...Right from the first book of the bible it’s starts off with a talking snake. That tells you right from the beginning this was going to be a book of stories of great imaginations no different then Edgar Allan Poe or a Stephen King.

Anyone who has studied the NT knows that Luke wasn’t an apostle or something. He simply collected accounts and information and wrote it down. Your phrasing is disingenuous.
Ruling out a book or something because you think it’s not possible is pretty bad reasoning I think. You don’t think a snake being able to talk is possible so you just poison the entire well by saying that the entire book must be full of stories. That’s poor reasoning, and it is based on the assumption that supernatural things don’t happen. Or that a God who can intervene in the world can’t exist.
