@@jessicalyles337 can certainly be true. I worked as a dispatcher for a bit and there was this Russian woman with a thick accent to boot. Think it was maybe 7-8 years back when it was real tough market, too many desperate truckers and not enough loads. Avg rate was only like $1.5 a mile on long haul. We were trying to avg $2 round trip but were struggling to keep it above $1.80. She was a beast though, would ask for $4 $3 etc. Most brokers would laugh and hang up if I asked $2. Endless rejection but she'd manage to get occasional $2.50-3 loads cross country when nobody else could.

I'd like to work as a truck dispatcher while OTR with him. Yet I don't know what tools I can use... Do we have to purchase a laptop or can I use my phone for load board access?
Shalena Brown I’ll be very honest with you, this opportunity requires you to invest both your time and money. Dispatching trucks sound simple but definitely not easy and it requires some investments like load board subscriptions, internet, laptop, office supplies, up front cost ect.
You can also start by working with an established dispatcher, or a brokerage company as a dispatcher using your phone or laptop... You can use their credentials to log on the load boards that they're using until you make enough money to pay your own load board registration and internet marketing fees etc to get started with having your own company.
