I started two varieties of tomatoes indoors and one of the varieties germinated a couple of days ago. I ordered another variety and will be starting that this week. I can’t wait to get some tomatoes this year! ❤🌱

those trays are invaluable for moving plants. Well worth the initial investment in them.

I hate tomatoes but I love growing them!! BUT those ground cherry are sooooo good!! I managed to grow two plants last year. MIgardener has them still and that’s where I got mine.

    Hi Ben,
The Grand Marshall tomato did very well for me last year. They are a super meaty tomato. I am experimenting with its replacement this year, the Jolene Tomato. So far, I am not impressed, too many week seedlings, 25 percent. Hopefully the mature plants do better. The summer heat in Alabama is bad, so I have to have my harvest in by mid July, else I am wasting my time and resources. I am down to twelve seedlings, the exact number that I need for my garden this year. It is a good thing I over planted.
I just sowed seeds for oregano, marjoram, mustard, Romaine Lettuce, assorted mixed leaf lettuces, Pak Choi, and Swiss Chard. Next on my list is cilantro, and flowers. I just took apart and moved two GreenStalk towers, and took another apart to put a stone base under it-not fun when the soil is wet. I've been bringing my seedlings outside every day it is over 38F, and leaving them outside on nights when the forecasted temperature is above 40F. Only the strong survive! That may be why I lost so many tomato seedlings. Well, weakling seedlings are not allowed in my garden! Babying them is too much work.
I just released Net Zero Asea Saturday. I am writing the last two chapters of Net Zero in the Wild Wild West, and then it is off to editing. Dang, I'm getting them out fast. Next week, I'll start writing Net Zero Star Crossed.

Up-potting gets exhausting fast. I fear myself burning out if I were to do it more frequently.
My goal is 1 up-pot before going into the garden. Usually peppers, tomatoes, onions... stuff that needs a huge head start in my zone 5 climate.
I just up-potted a dozen indoor trees over the past couple hours and I'm so burned out today that I'm considering skipping the seed starts I was supposed to get on this weekend. No good!

Ben, I’m pretty sure I have some ground cherry seeds left over from last year. I’ll look through my packs and get them out to you tomorrow. I’m only 3 hours north of you but who knows with the usps

I prefer to pot up my brassicas as well as the tomatoes and peppers. I look at it this way, this allows me to start extra and choose the most vigorous seedlings to keep. That is worth the extra work for me.

I don't like the stress it puts on them. I find they grow better without potting up

I have drains built into it so that it drains when ever there is not water pressure to it.

I have been growing tomatos for years. So last year I tried San marzinos and had the worst problem with blossom end rot. Tried everything to fix it but fix them, ended up pulling them out. Don't know if I will try again.
