The penalty kick rule for that 18:45 situation is a bit gray. Via the official rules Law 14 covers PKs. "...After the players have taken positions in accordance with this Law, the referee signals for the penalty kick to be taken. The player taking the penalty kick must kick the ball forward; backheeling is permitted provided the ball moves forward. The ball is in play when it is kicked and clearly moves..." Sophia didn't 'kick' the ball so it, technically, hadn't entered play but the player 'must' kick the ball on the refs signal. It's probably a good 'no call' from the ref but would be something that would eventually get called if PK takers started using it constantly as a mind game kind of move.
I was so relieved to hear Lynn’s confusion on that PK because I was just as confused in that moment. I came to the comment section in hopes someone had an answer. Definitely gray area there but I appreciate the help ❤

I respect Crystal being willing and unselfish playing in a position that benefits the national team. My favorite player is Rachel Daly and she does the same thing for England as Crystal does. Have to love and respect those players...

I've always loved Crystal, going back to her UNC days. She is such a smart player and is clearly an amazing teammate. Great episode!
