Never understand why teams come out trying to throw against Indy repeatedly during the Dungy Era. Dungy’s defense was BUILT to stop the pass.

Funny that Peyton crushed Kubiak in this game, who he’d go on to win a 2nd SB w/ in Denver 9 seasons later.

Peyton’s 2006 season gets disrespected b/c he started the playoffs w/ back to back bad games vs Baltimore & Kansas City (though two miscommunications w/ Harrison made this look worse than it was as he was 30/36 w/ 268 yards 1 TD 1 INT 95.4 Passer Rating on all his other throws) that crucified his final playoff stats.
He was as good as any QB could be in the other 18 starts & was extremely far ahead of 2nd place Carson Palmer in all QB metrics. He had a 119.1 Passer Rating on 3rd Down that year as the Colts converted 56.1% of their 3rd downs in 2006, which was highly important given they only averaged 9.2 non-kneel down possessions per game on offense that year.
Probably the greatest carry job ever for a SB winning QB given how inept his defense was (173.0 Rushing YPG allowed - worst since 1970 NFL-AFL Merger) (5.3 YPA allowed - worst since 1943) (31st in Red Zone defense (58.8%) & points per drive allowed (2.08), 30th in Rushing TDs (20) allowed & 4th down conversion rate allowed (78.6%), 28th in 1st downs allowed (325), 32nd in Rushing Yards allowed (173.0 YPG), 3rd down conversion rate allowed (47.1%), Rushing YPA allowed (5.3), Time of Possession Per Drive Allowed (3:07), Plays per Drive Allowed (6.4) and Yards Allowed per Drive (34.1)) that whole season.
The 2006 team had zero business starting 9-0 & finishing 12-4 that year w/ a defense that bad. Could easily argue this is Peyton Manning’s best season even if the numbers don’t jump off the page as much as his 2004 or 2013 seasons did.

1999 Week 14 (Peyton's first win vs. New England)

I have the 1999 game, I was also thinking about doing the 2007 game even though the Colts lost

@@coltsarchives I have mixed feelings about watching that one again. I saw it, live, back in 2007 and it was apparent that the Colts were the better team. The only reason that New England was able to get back in the game was because Brady started tossing jump balls to (the freak) Moss halfway through the 4th quarter. That Patriots team is overrated.

Peyton should’ve completed a 17 point comeback win but Johnson allowed Ninkovich to hit Manning’s wrist & the ball floated on him & got picked to end it. He was 38/51 for 396 yards 4 TDs 2 INTs prior to that play. He thoroughly outplayed Brady, who mostly just checked down vs Colts Cover 2 defense all game & threw what should’ve been a game-sealing INT on his 2nd to last offensive drive but Hagler dropped a pass that hit him between the 5 & the 6.
